Nice hotel stay ruined by terrible staff

My gf and I stayed at the hotel for a weekend. We had driven up from Toronto. The only 2 parking options are a municipal public parking lot and valet parking which actually isn't owned or run by the hotel but they imply differently. We chose the valet parking because we assumed there would be some security there however that is not the case. When checking out we noticed that everything in the car was rifled through and thrown on the floor with some items stolen. The lock wasn't picked and there was no damage to the car at all. ... When we reported the issue to the valet parking service and the hotel they did nothing to try and help, pointed fingers at each other for the issue and blamed us for leaving something in the car. Upon talking to the valet further it turns out that in the past month 4 other cars were broken into with items stolen. There is no gated entry, it's wide open and anyone can walk around and help themselves to the car. We have no evidence of who broke in the car but we find it suspicious that the car was not broken into. The valet attendant also told us that the hotel is aware of the issue and implied that no one is really doing anything about it. The hotel itself is nice and in a good location but if you are driving to Montreal I recommend you use the municipal parking(cheaper and looked safer) or stay at a different hotel like the Sheraton that actually has their own secure parking lot. If anything does happen to your car the hotel will refuse to help in any way. read hotel review

Stayed for six nights this month while attending a conference at the same hotel. It is a large hotel which has seen better days in the past, but is now aged and in desperate need of a renovation. The conference facilities are ok. It is very centrally located, making it easy to access all the important areas of the downtown. St Catherine's St. is very close by with all the shops. The room was OK in size, but with two queen size beds it felt very tight. The room itself is also very dated. The curtains are dirty, obviously have ... not been washed in year. There was a lot of dirt on top of the tables and cabinets, and even on the cans of potato chips. Things get even worse in the lobby where one would expect a lovely clean welcoming lobby in a Fairmont. The carpets are very old, and look filthy. The sofas in the lobby are so old. I don't think it costs so much to put new sofas in the lobby to make it more inviting. The surprising thing was also the charge for wifi. I was lucky to have been provided wifi by the conference organizers. read hotel review

Very well known hotel within Montreal and prior to my stay I had high expectations. The decor of the room and the lobby was extremely dated (think 1960's) and they put me in a "smoking room" which smelt horrible. The bathtub was dirty and the bathroom in general was not very nice. read hotel review

I stayed here for a conference. The hotel is definitely upscale, you notice that as soon as you stand in front of it, or when you see the bill. Staff was very respectful and helpful, and if you count English as a foreign language, then they were all extremely proficient. The hotel is in the heart of Montreal, a short walk to bars, restaurant, shops and incidentally the Jazz Festival, too, on St Catherine St. Room and bathroom were surprisingly small, and the TV was surprisingly small and old, but the beds were comfy, the TV worked, and the bathroom ... was clean and functional. read hotel review

This hotel is centrally located in downtown Montreal. From the airport in about 15 -20 minutes away by car or bus. valet parking at the hotel 28 CAD. Direct access from the hotel (elevator/escalator) to "Basse" and Centralstadion. Numerous restaurants and shopping possibilities available. It is a good value for breakfast. Nearest underground metro stop is about 10 minutes walk. The rooms are not very large, but sufficient. There is a separate smoking floor. Internet access via wireless in the room for 15.5 CAD/day. Our bathroom was small and somewhat worn in contrast to the rest of the room. ... The air conditioner was adjustable. There are restaurant and bistro. read hotel review

Grande Dame hotel in the middle of the city just right in between the shopping and the entertainment district. Unfortunately much gone lost demand of renovation - very good. Ambience in the typical US-hotel brown/beige. Room rather spartan and class not appropriate. Bathroom clean, but small and not inviting. No in-room safe. (But super-hair dryer. ) Pool (at least 10 * 5m) together with the fitness center in the basement (well equiped). Dingy locker rooms with closet space. Pool environment unpleasant dirty and the underground, fairly subdued atmosphere is crummy. Only a handful of plastic chairs to relax. At least ... a very warm jacuzzi for about 6 people. Parking in the garage under either or next door in the railway car (cheaper, about 20 C$ / day); both dark and with narrow routes. In sum: for about 108 EUR per night, per room given the location OK, but a bit of luxury, you will be able to find another hotel. Due to be in accordance with brochure "modern" is me incongrous. read hotel review

The hotel is very centrally located. Many attractions and the shopping streets are within easy walking distance. Directly from the hotel gives you access to the underground city, so that one could not before the door is in winter. The outside of the hotel is not really a beautiful sight. Inside was very much value on attractive design, high-quality materials and plenty of space. The hotel features the over 1000 rooms over several event rooms and is often booked for conferences and congresses. read hotel review

The rooms have a city hotel normal size and are very well appointed. Air conditioning, satellite television, coffee maker, clock radio, hair dryer, wireless Internet access, bathrobes and minibars are standard. The rooms are very clean, and the decor but partly already a bit old.

  • Gastronomy
    5.0

The hotel has two restaurants and a bar. The gourmet restaurant "Beaver Club" is known far above the city limits, but there were only three days (Th-sa) open. The main restaurant "Le Montrealais" is open daily and offers breakfast (weekend brunch), lunch and dinner. For a 3 -course menu at night you pay between 30 and 40 dollars. The choice is large and the quality was very good.

As to effectively all Fairmont hotels the service is excellent. From the friendly and quick check-in, to luggage service, the concierge, the cleaning staff to bartender and servers met very helpful people. Also on special wishes B. Flowers on the rooms) we reacted quickly and effectively.

Here you have everything you need, whether you will find restaurants, boutiques, workmen or grocery shops. Especially in the winter it is very helpful, since the temperatures well below zero down and snow time piles. Central station from Montreal right under the hotel. stops directly outside the hotel a shuttle bus from the airport (7 CAD per person).

The hotel looks very ugly from the outside and you'll think this gray box but hopefully it won't be the Fairmont is. From the inside is very nice, right next door is the cathedral. The parking costs CAD$25 as well as the breakfast, although a very rich. The lifts in the hotel are a special experience, at least two are basically dark and don't go. The Vieux Port is only a short walk away, with a taxi it's much more comfortable but read hotel review

The hotel is very centrally located in the downtown Montreal right next to the cathedral. Both the main shopping street rue Ste. Catherine and the old town are very convenient for walking distance. The hotel also offers a direct access to the "Ville Souterraine", the underground maze of shopping malls and restaurants - this especially when the weather is extremely convenient. The place is friendly-furnishings dignified and seemed clean and well maintained. This goes for the public areas as well as for the rooms. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. read hotel review
