Very beautiful, peaceful hotel, ideal for relaxing, the guests were on high level, without the i now arrogant want to be, but we had already, especially in ssh unpleasant international flair. Here a clear plus. The staff was very friendly, courteous and very pleasant art reserved, the location corniche is ideal, a few minutes walk to the diving station, very nice reef, / beach here you can get a cooler and bottles provided! We were very satisfied. However, there was next to the great relaxation also points of criticism, i would like to mention:
Staff needs for a very long time to serve, partly we had to the day without coffee start, since we didn't always the service pursue wanted
The prices are partly very rude. In the bar 5 Euro for a local beer is i think rip-off
Gym is ok, but for a top -5 star hotel, i do not wish to molten free weights (at least they had which), the taped and need a bank to sit or chairs for ... the exercises
Spa massages are very expensive, we prefer our masseur at home
Room: the door signs were almost broken; the door locked not really only after multiple open; tv was great, remote control worked but poorly, edge protection for the bathroom glass door went down.

Leisure: there is an activity center, Bowling, billiards for a fee. Table tennis for a fee (with advance reservation!). I actually wanted to free table tennis and then if i spontaneously want to do so.

The hotel convinced through its simple and symmetrical architecture. For rest and relaxation search exactly the right. The spa 'six sense' use, it offers comfortable and quality massages etc. at. This hotel is just fabulous! First of all, staff is so kind and knows immediately your preferences, their service is topnotch. I spent a week on my own and they would be very staff yet not at all inclusive intruding way. They made me feel very welcome and safe. The interior and exterior decoration is beautiful. Beautiful tapestries, lights and furniture. The rooms are spacious and quiet. Food is wonderful with enormous selection and every evening there was a different theme. Having b'fast and dinner at the terrace overlooking the pool area, the sea is heaven. The lookout bar (view ... over the lagoon) is a nice, relaxing and an elegant spot to have a nice cocktail. The private beach has many beds, separated by fenches that protect you from the wind. Snorkling is nice. The pool is heated: very welcome. Thus the spa provides wonderful massage.
If you look for a relaxing time and no loud music and entertainment the whole day through, yet peace quiet and quality, i (and a frequent traveler and visitor of high end hotels) would highly recommend this sublime and elegant hotel. read more

Were 2 nights for relaxing in the hotel. Went there felt really good, there absolute peace prevailed and we not animation were disturbed. The room was a dream. Had this time booked a suite, but the last visit we had a normal room, which was also very good and spacious was. Good service the coolers at the beach with small bottles water.
The only what really bothered us, was the air conditioning in the breakfast room. It is very cold and you had to be careful, that one is not caught.

We felt very much at ease. It felt all very friendly welcome. Despite hanykapp (broken foot ) we could the week and everyone with a lot of commitment and care to cared. The hotel has a great location and is also in terms of size great. Despite being close to the airport, the airplanes could hardly notice. The complex is very large, after a couple of days you'll find yourself but well. The cleanliness would I also a 'excellent' get, we were just passing through. The hotel was my opinion not fully booked, there were enough chairs available, and during the day one hardly saw people. The entertainment has in the neighboring hotel ( Crown Plaza) took place, which we found to be very pleasant. The food could have been a bit varied can be, it was mainly arabic food-that should you like. The staff were always friendly and helpful. Strolling is very recommendable, although port ghalib ... is still in its infancy-after an hour you pretty much everything, nevertheless very nice. In port ghalib there is a German diving school, also snorkeling excursions offers - also very recommendable. The guests in the hotel, mostly Italian, french, German and also a few Russian guests. We will definitely come back again, a relaxing vacation the unfortunately too short was. read more

The Intercontinential the palace is a the best hotel in port Ghalib. Locals see it with 7 stars! On the surface it is really an excellent hotel on an international chain, however on Egyptian level: the pool margins are not so clean as expected, the sun screens have stains and napkins and towels you see several Saisons on. Although the food good, is especially the dinner buffet little varied and the Oriental night distinguishes from the other Büfettagen hardly. In the hallways is often used plates and glasses longer than a day.
On the positive side, that the hotel, since ... there is no all inclusive and also a bit more expensive than the surrounding hotels only 1/3 is busy. The hotel is also on couples without children specialized, there is no slides, animation eTC. What for relaxation provides, if you're looking for peace and quiet. The diving station Eperor divers is only conditionally recommendable.
In short: the hotel is good, for a intercontinental, even in Egypt I would have however expected more. read more

Personally I know on the red sea the Mövenpick in El Gouna, the intercontinental in Hurghada and the Sheraton in Soma Bay. Because of the proximity to Aswan etc. We have this time for port Ghalib and the intercontinental decided (, although we then no trip to assuan did).
The place has a airport, from Hurghada you have good 2,5 hours drive to the hotel-good.
Port Ghalib is like El Gouna and Soma Bay a' normal' Egypt separated department, that any patron was built. Normal Egyptians-up to the employees the hotels etc. - have no entry. The establishment of ... port Ghalib is like El Gouna so big, that dozens of plants are being built may. Currently - in the summer 2012-there is only the intercontinental, the considerably more on mass-oriented Crown Plaza, as well as in the Hafenmall a small further hotel.
The hotel lies directly at a fantastic reef, as though we are sea turtles on hotel's own reef and I have a tuna seen, as well as Rays and barracuda. The reef edge is accessed by the hotel's own jetty. The beach is however no classic bathing beach, the falls to the coral reef and you can practically only directly at the water's edge into the water or over the jetty to get into the deep reach. For breakfast, there is water and freshly squeezed orange juice without limits, into the room morning half liter -water and the beach is a a cooler with ice and two small bottles of water enough. Otherwise must drinks during dinner times paid to hotel prices ( we had the half board).
Since we from the breakfast buffet discreet a few Croissants for the beach packed had enough half board fully-daily came the costs for the dinner-drinks extra.
For breakfast were the eggs prepared as you like it, juices were freshly squeezed, tomatoes, the usual sausages and bacon, yoghurt everything was there. Ham and sausage would have fresh looks can, but probably not at 25 degrees - inside ( outside almost 40!). Actually only thing missing was a newspaper and a glass of sparkling wine - with the newspaper also for sale not to purchase was. Internet there were for a fee or to the drinks at the bar included. The dinner there was also in buffet form, whereby one the plate after the show like the waiters at the table were. Even the chair with the planting was foisted and the napkin on the lap placed - as long as not fought. Every day there were another themed buffet ( Japanese, Indian, French, grill.). We were due to the other Comments very concerned, and initially critical and really would have on one day ( the French) the soups and a few other things a bit better. The chef was very Fettliebend. In the result was but everything was great and we have any food without restrictions and without digesting problems enjoyed.
To the audience: Bizarre! We were at the same time probably no more than 30 (THIRTY!) guests. At the buffet we have new arrivals asked where they are, the food you knew practically everyone nationality the other guests. It was like Agatha Christies' the mean under the sun '. A small circle pleasant persons - however with more staff as guests. Total peace - Remmi demmi and snakes at the buffet there was at the neighbors in the Plaza. Parallel to us was a German couple around the 40 there, a further German couple around the 50, a Italian family with a small child, two further Italian and two French couple, as well as a traveling alone Frenchman to 35 years. Other guests then probably other Times dining-it was so quite intimate and because of the lush buffet almost comical. But you can guests from the Crown Plaza to eat invite (3 Euro extra charge, a joke). The thought it fantastic times peaceful atmosphere and something Frank Sinatra in the background instead of loud hustle and crowd.
The people said, that the hotel two years ago busy had been. Something must as happened? A Strandpage said, the guests have to remember, that the new President business-friendly is? Why also always, we were never more than ten guests at the same time in the lofty dining room or during dinner on the fantastic Steinpolierten terrace. This bizarre, informal atmosphere ( nice welcome each guest for the food etc.) have we enjoyed.
However the hotel is not on German guests focused - on the contrary - Italian, British and French are in foreground. There is no German Translations. Russians were not present. I think it a great shame, that not German the hotel for itself discovered. The empty didn't very busy.
All three days a hotel manager at the beach and asked, if everything is perfect, whether what was misplaced, which about the food be improved could etc. What is in the intercontinental port Ghalib just happened? We puzzle and find it almost mystical, because actually it's all true-only guests there were hardly any.
But, one thing to upset there-we took it with humor: a nice man at the beach, Hammoud, had cosmetic treatments of the hotel sold. However was not from the hotel, but a shop in the catacombs of the hotel the rented was. Well, that was a atmosphere like in Berlin-Kreuzberg, only more expensive. No matter, the perfect reef and the great hotel have everything compensated.
If you have time a better hotel allow would like to, additional drink prices during dinner does not shrink from and who no animation and no hustle and bustle to have would like, the is in good hands here. This is a good hotel on a perfect reef with Schildröten etc. - only without classic Badesandstrand and not really cheap. read more

Arrived at the airport we were greeted by a hotel staff with a sign greeted friendly. After a short but exciting journey, we reached the hotel complex. The check in was very smooth and, thanks to my status in the hotel group we received an upgrade to a room with a pool and view of the sea.
Unfortunately you could in the hotel only between breakfast and half board choose, so we went in the neighboring hotel in order to eat there.
The direct access to the sea from the beach is not possible, but only over a footbridge the ... neighboring hotels lodge Marina.
I the hotel can not for swimmers or for travellers with children recommend there at the beach large corals couches and a direct access to the sea is impossible.

Travelling to Egypt just started to get going again. All guests where in this hotel to avoid empty lounges, beaches and restaurants. So the situation was different than it would have been with only guests having booked this one hotel. Guests from the nearby Marina Lodge (4 star hotel), which is a childfriendly hotel were also in The Palace. This caused during the day noise around the pool and on the terrace of the restaurant. But this cannot be held against the hotel.
Friendly and very helpful staff everywhere.Receptiondesk knows how to take care of a smooth and fast ... check in. Excellent personnel in the bar. The room was kept spotlessly clean and fresh. On the beach the service is outstanding, you even get served fresh fruit during the day.
The restaurant does need some attention. The lunch and dinner buffet did not have a lot of variety. The food was tasty though and fresh. It was a pity that it most often took some time to take away the used plates. In the morning the serving of coffee and tea was not too fast either. Sometimes it seemed that there were more managers than waiters.
But the restaurant was very clean, no complaints there. read more
