The hotel from the 80.-Jahre-Serie has gotten a bit old and especially because the story and its good location located on the top of Nob hill. The rooms are spotless, you feel but the patina of bygone era. The hotel has a own gallery of the most famous guests. For breakfast the café Cento in the basement with free Wi-Fi ( internet in the room is subject to a charge). The Polynesian restaurant/ bar Tonga room is totally overrated and a visit not worth it. It's perfect that both cable car lines right on the hotel hold. The shortened ... the waiting times opposite the bus stop major. read more

From the outside the hotel makes a beautiful, noble impression. The lobby is typical USA very ornate decorated. Unfortunately it looks in the room passages and rooms not as spectacular and everything seems very musty and damp. In the price inclusive is in this hotel nothing at all. Not even wi-fi is offered for free, but to bargain prices sold. All nationalities are in this hotel and it was very busy. read more

The room was big and offered enough room. The carpet, however, worked rather filthy and musty. There were already some käsefüsse drübergelaufen. The bathroom was very large. In the shower there was a bench but disgusting of soap and lime covered was. The two beds had its best days already hinder and you sank proverbial in the dream.

Friendliness we were young unfortunately not brought. Only the customers with better rooms were preferentially and smiled. Even the bags were at the entrance not from the porter decreased, which was actually from such a house is to be expected.

The hotel is located convenient in the middle of town on a hill. If you on foot on the way is, can the climb quite strenuous. Everything is but nearby and even a cable car stop is directly in front of the hotel.

We, three men in the twenties, have spent 4 nights in the Fairmont. Venue: good&close to market street. However, the staff: extremely unfriendly i would say, $18/day for wifi. It seems that the staff is just looking after guests in the crownroom or presidental club. Pay attention, to minibar, any food in your room, it will be charged directly, as soon as you take it out. read more

The Fairmont was very well known and popular in the USA.It was a beautiful hotel in a beautiful area and was part of the luxury hotel category. The whole hotel was tastefully and elegantly furnished and equipped. Very clean, we felt very comfortable. In my experience, very international guests, businessmen as well as tourists. The guests were more "elderly" probably because of the prices. Stores and restaurants were available, but we did not use them. Altogether, the hotel gave a very nice impression. The magnificent lobby was impressive, and thus maybe for some students a little intimidating when normally ... staying in middle class hotels. read more

The room was rather old-fashioned but furnished very elegant and chic. Large TV, desk and a large bed, some seating possibilities and a walk-in closet (very large). The bathroom exactly like the whole room, very neat and perfectly clean. There were, as usual, some products such as shower gel etc.A minibar was available, but as mentioned, at high prices. We however had hoped for better views! We only had a view of the courtyard, nevertheless we must say that the room was furnished simply very beautiful, and we felt as in the whole hotel very comfortable.

We did not use any of the restaurant offers in the Fairmont. I could only report that the room service prices, as in any hotel of this price range were very high.

  • Service

The service was very good. The concierge was able to answer all our questions quickly and satisfactorily including ordering the bus service. Also the check in and check out went quickly and uncomplicated.Since we only spent one night in this hotel, I am not aware which service areas were offered in the hotel. There was definitely a restaurant, several stores and a gym.

The distance to the airport with the shuttle service was about 30-40 minutes depending on how the traffic was. However, we booked a Shared Van Shuttle service to drive us to the airport, which then drove to some other hotels in San Francisco and the drive could be 2 hours and longer. The hotel was located on Nob Hill and had two cable car lines at the door, the one for example drove to Union Square. As tourists we enjoyed every ride on the cable cars, so we were not disturbed that it was the only means of transportation in our area. You could reach the shopping possibilities, and everything that belongs to it quickly with the cable car. Whether Chinatown or Union Square!

Two excellent restaurants, one in the upper floor and the original decorated in polinesian style, the Tonga restaurant also offers very good food at moderate prices. On Thursday and Friday evenings also a Happy Hour with (modest) buffet for about $10. Tonga is located in the former indoor swimming pool area of the hotel, with a pool in the interior, designed the periodic rain storms. Original.

A short 20 minute ride by taxi from the airport, also in 20 minutes you are on the pier. Located in the Nobs Hill neighborhood, pretty much on top in the city. Chinatown is just a walking distance away, also next to the hotel were all three cable car lines. (Note: in the evenings they were very crowded, so expect long waiting times for purchase). Bus and trams are also available. However, the walk back up the hill is a bit cumbersome.

Public transport connections to and from the hotel are satisfactory. The service was pretty good. The check-in process was easy. The atmosphere and the furnishings in the dining and bar areas were pleasant. There was positive feedback about the quality and taste of the food. Fairmont hotel is one of the most beautiful hotel I have ever been. It's like an old palace. It is in the center of the city, only a 10 minutes walking from Union Square. The staff is very kind and helpful and breakfast is tasteful. The only problem is that the every day cleaning isn't as good as it has to be. Moreover there aren't mules in the room and water boiler as it is used in other 5 stars hotels. However, it is worth all the money and I highly recommend it to couples for a romantic trip or ... families! read more
