It's a big historic building in the heart of Amsterdam. A bit too old, you can feel the dust of the centuries there. There is also a lot of corridors, so it is not that simple just to find an elevator, or, for gods sake, toilet (it's somewhere downstairs). Decoration is beautiful, decorating with fresh flowers every day. We had room on a top floor overlooking a canal, beautiful. Extremely high ceilings - so lots of light and air. Everything was good until we got a cab. Reception assured us that there is fixed price to go to the airport. ... However, taxi driver said its not. So he called the hotel, long discussion and it ended up with nothing - we payed according to the meter. Otherwise it all was good. Not excellent, but generally very very good! read hotel review

We had an amazing week long stay at the Amrath Amsterdam. Quirky hotel is charming. It's a design jewel, and a signature piece of the Amsterdam School of design. A masterpiece. It was a headquarters for shipping companies, and has been lovingly converted to a luxury hotel. The rooms are huge especially for Amsterdam. The layout is quirky, but totally worth it for the design. It's in the heart of Amsterdam, and is definitely worth a visit. The staff are friendly and helpful. The concierges were especially good.. Both Peter and Jeffrey went above and beyond. Highly recommended. read hotel review

Perfect location few minutes from central station. Very nice rooms with free mini bar. Delicious breakfast. Special computer room with two computers, free internet and printer. Sweaming pool not very big but clean and nice as well. read hotel review

A Grand Hotel with the charm of the past! Not modern but with a touch of the classic. Very 'full of nooks and crannies'. The hotel seemed to me like a set for a film at the turn of the century. read hotel review

We really liked the look of the hotel in the old style. With high ceilings and windows that you can open (not a matter of fact), the climate of the room in our deluxe room could be controlled well. The king size bed was very comfortable and invited you to slowly begin the morning. BEWARE! The parking service costs 50 Euro per started day (not per 24 h)! We were not informed of this! We did not use the breakfast offer for 25 Euro/person/day. However, there is an unbeatable, delicious sandwich shop Prinz Heerjkes or something right across from Central ... Station (3 minute walk), which greeted us every morning with a very good attitude. We enjoyed eating there! The wellness area from the hotel is big enough for us and invited us to relax. Starting at 18:00, there were a lot of young men who played very loudly. The cleaning staff was MISERABLE! Day 2: they threw our sleeping clothes on the ground and there were dirty rags on the night stand, the bed wasn't made and neither the mini bar nor coffee capsules were filled! The mini bar and coffee are actually a free part of the room. On day 3, we had a large stain across the blanket. (spinach or pigeon poop, I could not define it. The stain was there until our departure. Other small things and big mistakes also stood out, but I do not want to list them all her.e Nothing was explained to us during check-in and we had to ask for all of the information. I must offer praise for the concierge, who, in contrast to the rest of the hotel, was VERY interested in our wellbeing! read hotel review

    The city and the 'Meilen' can be reached within a 5 minute walk. A nice parking garage for only 10 Euro per day (a deal in Amsterdam) is 5 minutes away. Train station and bus stops can also be reached within 3 minutes! The location of the hotel is great! We had a view of the canal from our room and we liked it a lot.

Good location, everything else sch. Check-in took too long, breakfast (25 Euro per person) much too expensive. Additional 'city tax' per day 9 Euro at the end of all nights will be charged. Rooms: for clothes is only a eintüriges, halbhohes schrankabteil with 3 clothes hangers available, also otherwise hardly place, little space, broken door in shower cubicle (water sprayed on the floor in the bathroom, dangerous), water in shower didn't drain, it was in the showers in the own dirt, furnishing generally dated, hair dryer was broken (but was replaced), carpet in the room was dirty, in the corridor ... at 2. floor, where our room was, has continuously after hashish smell; because the room door lock is leaking, did they sometimes also in the room noticed. Some equipment in the spa/fitness center did not work properly (for example, the rowing machine). We ask ourselves, why this hotel 5 stars and especially. Where the 'good' reviews, we unfortunately left. This hotel we would never book it again, we are disappointed. read hotel review

This is a nice hotel, not far from the central station. While it is a little bit outdated, facilities are good. The rooms are very large (but noticed a smell though). The staff is wonderful and will assist you the make the best of your stay. read hotel review

A good solid hotel for a business stay. The location is near to great cultural attractions (the Science Center and the Maritime Museum for example) and good restaurants and is walking distance to the train station and the business district. The hotel is located immediately adjacent to the train tracks however, so travelers should request a room on the far side of the building to avoid the noise of the trains - especially the early morning commute trains. The rooms are standard, clean and functional with no frills. Definitely a better business trip hotel than holiday hotel. read hotel review

It is a nice grand hotel which has aged badly over the years. The hotel itself is placed in a very amazing historical building and the public areas of the hotel still have the flair of an old grand hotel. The room was big but the design was just done with a bad taste. The service was good but the hotel needs some work done to regain the standard of a luxury hotel. read hotel review

Window the room were not to open, blanket much too warm, otherwise : hotel with great atmosphere- if above points do not disturb : definitely recommendable! For my birthday there was the tastiest chocolate cake, we've ever had ☺ read hotel review

The setting in the shipping house 1914 in the Dutch art Deco style is unique. It is a mixture of office building full of classic Elements such as booking Stoomboot Maatschapij the Koninklijke, meeting rooms for the magnificent Directors, stylish and art Deco elements in interesting connection with today's comforts and hotel standard. Severe forms of construction of the hotel are not familiar with or perhaps a little threatening and gloomy. Overall appearance as long corridors and premises I personally thought that was a little drab and there is a shortage in the warmth. read hotel review

    Very beautiful size with a view of the canal. Also here again reflects the art Deco, dark wallpaper and stubborn colors. Through the very high ceiling everything looks a bit dull, dark and threatening. As mentioned everything is a matter of taste. The bathroom was OK, not overly on the tub was missing a separating wall, after showering was the bath Hopelessly wet. Toilet seperrat is, was okay, however the room is really small and Spartan. There is no for example a washbasin for the cleaning. Mini bar was during my stay inclusive, NESPRESSO capsules with, and slippers ante bathe, as well as safe in the room. Condition of the total is still new.

    There is a bar where during the day also small court offered us snacks. Restaurant with buffet breakfast area is not inviting. Very dark and a space without window or natural light. Everything is clearly too dark and breakfast it is impossible a newspaper to read. My taste is missing positive Colors and does not contribute to good mood in. Breakfast is good but not spectacular. Warm egg dishes to wish to table friendly and competent served. Staff in the restaurant very friendly.

Check was absolutely a disaster. Young lady totally overwhelmed. In a small Adjoining made at 2 old desks from the shipping Cantor the check. To take his place was initially not offered, I felt I am requestor in an office and a guest. Proceduur took 15 minutes the whole. Then wait for a page which I friendly escorted to our room. Ihne monitoring this leg bent courses never your room. Cleaning of the rooms invisible, very well and tidy.

    the location is great, a few minutes from the train station Centraal, metro station and the bus station. The city center with great options for shopping in a few minutes to reach.. The boat landing and water taxis are also in immediate nearby. From here you can the city without any problems on foot discover. All very good Starting point for tourists but also people on business trip. The airport Schiphol airport can be reached easily by train in about 20 minutes there are pleasant dining and drinking options and expensive not necessary. Also the surrounding Cities like Haarlem with very beautiful Franz Hals museum and great old town, the cheese city Alkmaar and the IJsselmeer Hoorn and Enkhuizen Hansesädten are good and easily reached by train reachable.

The hotel makes an interesting impression. Somehow it reminded at Hogwarts. Everything is winding, somehow resembles the architecture of a castle. Everything very clean and in great condition. The average age is multicolored mixed, the nationalities. Too many are people with higher incomes accommodated, but also the average traveler! read hotel review

    The rooms are super!. Perfect size, the bathroom was very nice. Tv was perfect (little German channels). Mini bar was also class. The coffee machine was OK. (Returns better coffee). Safe is also available... The bed was divine ☺ & the view awesome! Especially in the evening!.

The hotel exudes the grandeur of the past, you feel rather like you are in a historic company or administrative building. The room was great, lots of space, good facilities, quiet. The hotel is amazing and is located directly at a canal. On foot you are within 5 minutes at the train station, from where trams go in every direction. The staff is very friendly and the service great. The room was big and beautiful, the bed super comfortable. Our summary: ideal place in Amsterdam, but unfortunately too expensive, as a lot is outdated and rather 4 stars would be appropriate. read hotel review

The complex sadly seemed very dark and dingy. Marble, plentiful, and dark carpets give it a dark wood antique impression. The cleanliness were generally good.     Unfortunately, we have to give this point extreme drawbacks. We booked this hotel in particular for its "wellness centers" chosen; the gym too small, the equipment and the floor wasn't clean and only limited usable, still three good cardio machines (a treadmill, stationary bike, and Crosser), free water sports station; the real spa with a swimming pool, a jacuzzi, two saunas, an infrared cabin and steam room is new, but unfortunately the cleanliness on closer inspection to be desired. The few sitting and covers were replaced fresh towels were mostly with lounging, although the users were partly not available anymore. Guests and unfortunately the staff were the wet-area with shoe entering; the spa offer from timing reasons we didn't use

    5 mins walk from the main train station (Centraal station), airport from there a fast train in 20 minutes (4€ simple/ adult) walking distance, public transport facilities, such as bus, S-Bahn, metro also very easy to see (Open 24h/ticket for 7 euros / adult), access to the boat tours also very well located. The hotel is very centrally located, so it is a perfect starting point for all kinds of activities and excursions

Location is OK, but cleanliness and value does not match a 5 star hotel. Reception overwhelmed, reservations with the hotel do not take place, rooms are dark and partly face to a major road. Categorization needs urgent re-adjustment. read hotel review

Great hotel, but no 5 stars for the service. You have to know the hotel is almost a museum, but with new furniture; it is all very dark, you sometimes feel like you are in a haunted castle. But everything was very clean and the mix of new modern furniture with old adornments on the walls, ceilings, floors, makes the whole into something special, but gloomy. In short, really recommendable for Amsterdam, but no 5 stars, centrally located and there are much worse hotels for this price in Amsterdam! read hotel review
