We visited this hotel now for the fifth time or so and we will continue to return for several reasons.
The hotel personnel is very friendly and helpfull and this is the case everywhere at reception, in the restaurant, the bar, etc We have always asked for a room on the highest floors (great views and very quiet) and this request was always granted, but it helps to send a mail with your request in advance.
There are huge price differences when booking your arrangements. We booked through Jetair (with own transport) and with early booking reduction and this deal ... is very interesting. But also the hotel chain (Playa Senator) has interesting offers when using their early booking reductions, etc. Compare prices (also with and without transport at same travel agencies)
We consider our arrangement as extremely high value for money.
Some people complain that there is not a lot of variation in the meals. However, when the hotel gives you an extremely wide selection every day (e.g. daily 3 kinds of paté, english breakfast, daily cava at breakfast, 2 kinds of fish, 2 kinds of meat, 2 stews, etc. every dinner) than it becomes difificult not to repeat some platters during the week. But we were there 9 days and we never ate the same. Food is not luxurious (except on Saturday evenings) but always very decent. Also, you can order your own eggs with the fillings you want, the same is true for pancakes.
The hotel could indeed do with some renovation, but all important functionality is working properly. And knowing what a crisis we have in Spain I personally think they do pretty well. Also important is that they keep their personnel. Only seldomly we see new faces under their personnel which is for me a good sign conserning employer-employee loyalty.
The drinks are of good quality and prices are very acceptable (e.g. 1/2 liter of house wine is only 5.05 euro, 1 liter mineral water only 2.45 euro). Also remember that from 17.00 till 18.00hrs it is happy hour in the bar and you get 2 drinks for the price of 1.
Location of the hotel is at the promenade and at walking distance from the park, the historical castle, the tourist information office.
We can strongly recommend this hotel. Best proof we have booked already our next stay coming October. read more

I will recomend you this hotel because I think it is a very good hotel to spend your holiday in family. Children can do sport and enjoy with other children in the teenclub. The rooms are big, we were three adults and one child and we dind't have any problems to be good. The staff of hotel is expecially pleasant and if you have any difficult they are always able to help you. We will again go to there next year and I notice a lot of people repeat this hotel because they like it. read more

Mega-hotel offers non-stop in 100 metres distance to the sandy beach, good overall impression. Wi-fi only for 45 minutes/day including in the lobby, partly very slow, otherwise fee. We had only booked half board because of flexibility for day trips. The guest structure was very mixed! First we nearly only native spanish, then came suddenly squadrons of german and english. Average age 50 +. When booking of the hotel wanted hc preisnachschlag 200 €enforce, alleged price increase, here you have to be careful. read more

The hotel has a pigeons plage on the balconies-pigeons, the you can see, the you can hear, the one smells. I felt that these critters massive troubled. Sitting on the balcony was not possible. Alone because of the pigeons i can this hotel not recommend it and will certainly never stay there again.
Positive emphasized should be the one-hour free internet access per day in the (architecturally very interesting) lobby.
Otherwise was the hotel in all average. read more

Thanks to the many Vorbewerter we knew what to expect. A lot totally matches, as the pigeon droppings on the balcony, the rocky beach and the guest structure. Overall the hotel is but when middle occupancy in the late season definitely recommendable. We found the complete staff guest and child-friendly and communication tried. The food was fresh, varied and more than enough ( although for the German taste partly took some getting used to). The Economy -cleaning of the rooms (2 times per week) was excellent. The warm indoor pool ( with a large jacuzzi) has a low ceiling, but ... great, if the days outside chilly. In the 2 large beds we have four of us slept well. The large bathroom and the towels have been positively mentioned. Our points of criticism: 1.) the glasses in the restaurant were not always clean (lipstick.). 2.) the extensive entertainment was despite many present children only for adults planned, that (as many 50 +) hardly interested. It would be more flexibility appropriate. The evening entertainment ( Flamenco, Parrot show) we liked, was at 22 o'clock to us as a family but also very late. read more

Good hotel, which has gotten a bit old, felt a good three star hotel. Breakfast and dinner absolutely top class. Bed in the room 2,80 meters times 2,0 meters, safe had to extra for 5,25 Euro be rented. Parking spaces outside from the hotel not a problem - parking Fees from the hotel too high. Happy hour daily 17 until 18 o'clock on the complete bar menu included coffee, price absolutely okay. A staff by the pool is very negative, apart from that I can recommend the hotel. As mentioned a hired car is very important. read more

The hotel was in the low season very quiet, may be too quiet, until then from thursday until sunday the spanish arrived were in large groups and it was much full and extremely noisy that you only had to flee! The staff were very friendly. The rooms were well equipped and the double room with 2 extra broad beds was adequate for the three of us. We booked half board and lunch self catered for and right next door at the large supermarket go shopping, the was perfect convenient. Bars there were too few in this area however restaurants there ... were enough. If you 10 to 15 minutes walking one came however in a small town with many shops, bars and restaurants. The beach was not nice, as many rock there were and therefore we were not even in the sea baden. The large pool was way too cold for swimming but the hot tub was at least very pleasant. The swimming pool is also very clean with pleasant warm water. In short of our stay: it was ok. But we would not again come back and the hotel only for a short break ( outside of weekends) recommend it. read more

The hotel is directly at the beach, the rooms are talk large. The bed is about 2.80 times 2 meters large. Breakfast is very plentiful and absolutely fresh. Staff are very helpful. We had unfortunately only one night, because our vacation home on the day of arrival not finished yet was. We can definitely recommend this hotel. read more

My second trip to this particular hotel but my 12th trip to hotel of the Playa Senator chain. I am never disappointed! this hotel lives up to the usual standard of cleanliness, exceptional kindness and friendliness of the all the staff., Wonderful situataion, opposite the beach and within easy walking distance of the beautiful village of Almuñecar. A great holiday for all. Good offers in the spa and beauty and massage treatments. Great for children with plenty of entertainment all day in the Kids Club. Nice pools outdoor and indoor outside summer season. Jacuzzis beside both pools. Very useful to ... have beach towels supplied free of charge.
In general, highly recommendable and don't forget to take out the VIP card because you'll be sure to repeat in this or one of the other hotels in the chain. read more

What I especially noticed, how bad foreign languages skills the employees are! Hardly a could, or wanted to, a other language except for Spanish. Partly very unfriendly staff in the restaurant.
The waiter Patxi has correctly with friendliness and language skills rausgesstochen. Front desk also good. The dining room is very old, small and uncomfortable. The guests had to at the entrance wait until space was. How goes it only in the peak season to? There were only 2 elevators for the large 8 story complex. Too few! Oh all inclusive is the joke. Had only half board me but ... the regulation of all inclusive read. For example everyone gets only a hot drinks and a piece pastry Afternoon allocated. Those found in breach of the rules, with various disciplinary measures punished!:-)
Was fun to read. The food is average. Have it better but also worse at such locations experienced experienced. Almunecar is a nest. Unbending car rent. Sights which I personally thought was Sevilla! Just gorgeous! Afterwards Granada, Cordoba. Important! Who Alhambra see wants must long before the tickets reserve leave. I am not walked. The day pass was the whole April fully booked. Is actually impossible as the matters are to be handled. So a Einlaßprozedur must be made more widely known. To my travel time there were about 90% Spanish as. Altogether 80% retirees. read more

We were there for the 5th time and we will certainly be back.
This hotel provides excellent value for money. With a travel agent or when you book directly through the group and make use of their special promotions, you can have excellent deals.
The hotel staff is very friendly and competent. Rooms are cleaned and towels replaced daily, bedsheets are changed regularly. Very good choice of breakfast and dinner buffet, and even more so during week-ends. The show cooking is available daily and individual orders for omelets, pancakes, etc. are always possible (but take a little more patience of ... course).
Hotel has nice outside and inside pools, fitness room, etc. Location is very good hotel is next to the beach and in walking distance to the city centre., park, castle, shops, weekly market
There are all sorts of activities during day and evening activities such as mini-golf, shooting, bingo, dance, music, football matches on large screen, and much more.
We cannot wait to book our next visit. read more

The hotel is very good, lies at the 'paseo' zlong the sea. In general the hotel is very clean.
We had half-board, meals were good with plenty of choise.
Guests were mainly elderly people, a.o. 'Spanish pensionistas'... During the weekend there were quite some Spanish families with children. read more

Except for small faults in the foreign languages skills of the staff and the one or other chamfered corner-a great burst hotel with friendly staff, fair prices and in a beautiful location.
You should however now in winter spring a rental car have, in order the area to explore. Granada, Malaga, Nerja, Seville, where appropriate, Gibraltar reachable.
in the summer Caution-if you like beaches, is in the wrong place here. The beach in front of the hotel consists of flat stones, not unpleasant but took some getting used to.
the main beach of almunecar( about 12 minutes footpath) is however ... a sand beach.
the hotel pool is clean, the indoor swimming pool not overly large, but OK.
all together a good recommendation also for families and seniors (the way partly the whole winter time). read more

Hello, we were at the beginning of of September in this great hotel. By a previous short stay I knew the hotel and its surroundings have a little. However, I was at the time of the January in this hotel and corresponding it was much quieter. The hotel is in a good condition. It was a few years ago in certain places Renovated as a heavy storm some floors were fully run. Now of course nothing more to see. We had a room on the second floor with direct view of the sea. The room was more than big enough ... and with two queen size beds equipped. There was a large mirror closet with many coat-hangers and drawers. The bathroom was very large and the toilet was extra separated. On the balcony there was a table with two chairs as well as a possibility to hang up your wet towels or similar we read several reviews' pigeons '-the problem. This we can't confirm. We didn't see any doves on our balcony or pigeons mist on the table or chairs had. The food in the restaurant always tasted. As we have many vacation in Playa hotel spent we have the food quality and selection. This was in this hotel in our opinion, the best of all the hotels we have visited so far from this chain. The waiters and waitresses where there is very friendly and understood German. At the hotel bar, the friendliness and we always felt welcome. The location to the beach is great. Just by the front gate and you're practically on the beach. We always got a pool chair rented since we as the partial bigger stones but very hurts back. The price for two beach chairs with cushions and umbrella with 8 euros in the normal area. If you have a good command of the Spanish language you can bargain with the gentlemen also a convenient weeks rate. For those walk in the evening is also provided. If you are driving from the front gate left you in the beautiful old town of almunecar in the bars and restaurants with moderate prices. You can relax in the narrow streets sometimes easy to get lost, but in the end brings you back to a point. The bus station for trips to Nerja or Malaga brings you this way. There is also a mountain to climb which probably what to do with the shipping. Unfortunately enough to correct my Spanish translation of the boards at the gate from. The steps of jogging in the morning and in the evening gladly used and also otherwise, you had a fantastic view over the place if you want to stay hauled has ☺ all in all, we can recommend this hotel without problems and we are sure won't be the last time I go there former. Small tip: we had no tour operator and the transfer from Malaga on vacation transfers. 30 euros one way is for those long transfer a more than fair price and the shuttle was very reliable. Book early, the prices are more expensive or had only very expensive private transfers might be available. read more
