This must be our +10th stay in this hotel, now mid October. To our surprise there were many german and even more belgian visitors. At previous stays in this period we encountered mainly spanish guests, especially in the week-ends. Not this time. As reported before, we could again see some low cost improvements in the hotel. Small things, but accumulated over the years, and knowing the magnitude of the Spanish crisis, this is to be applauded. Also to be mentioned is the excellent and very friendly welcome at reception. We were again given one of the rooms we had asked ... for. On request we got extra pillows before we went to bed the first evening, etc. As previous years meals still offer a large choice and are of a good standard with an excellent buffet every Saturday-evening. Prices of drinks are still very reasonable. We usually have 1/2l of house wine and 1/2l of sparkling water at a cost of 7.45 euro in total. As previous years the hotel still offers cocktails of the day (Pina Colada, Margarita, San Fransisco) at only 3.00 euro per cocktail. On top they have a happy hour from 17.00 till 18.00hrs. Pay one, get one free. Conclusion we have never been disappointed in this hotel and our next stay is already booked. read hotel review

    Very good sleeping quality. We got extra pillows when we asked them. Daily cleaning and often bedsheets replaced (minimum 2x per week, sometimes more often). Many TV-channels. Rooms with seaview are great and often offer stunning sundowners.

    This last stay we were mainly impressed by the speed and effectiveness of the maintenance department and of the cleaning staff. During one night we experienced a heavy storm with very strong winds and massive rainfall. In the morning we noticed water damage on several floors. It turned out that a hot water pipe on the roof got damaged in the storm and caused water problems on several floors. 24 hours later nobody could see anything anymore from these problems. The pipe was repaired, the water damage was cleaned and during these 24hrs we never had any problems with the hot water supply. A few days later we found out (by talking to other hotel guests) that we were missing some TV channels on our flatscreen TV in the room. We reported this at reception (around 8.30pm) and withing 5 minutes there was somebody from maintenance with us and he fixed the problem (reprogramming the TV-channels) within minutes. Impressive service, even outside normal hours !

AT walking distance you have the city park, the beach boulevard, the city castle, the tourist visiting centre? .... Within less than one hour driving you can visit Granada, Motril, Malaga, Nerja, Competa (white village),....

We were there from March 24 till April 1, 2015, which was part of the Holy Week. We did know this is a special week for Spain, but we did not realize this is so wide-spread. During a full week there are processions in allmost all cities in Spain, including in Almunécar. If you wish you can go and see some 12 parades/processions, sometimes 3 or 4 on one day. Pretty impressive to see, irrespective of your religion. In our hotel we could indeed notice some small (low cost) improvements. In the past years of crisis, especially in Spain, this ... is in my eyes rather surprizing. As such we could see new cushions in the chairs of the central hall. In the suites and junior suites (I do not know about the other rooms) there were (2) flatscreen TV's with multi-media possibilities: we watched movies and listened to our music from USB-sticks on these large flatscreens. We reported twice a small problem at reception (once our room airco and once a lift) and both problems were fixed within the hour ! As previous years meals still have large choice and are of a good standard with a very good buffet every Saturday-evening. Prices of drinks are still very reasonable. We often have 1/2l of house wine and 1/2l of sparkling water at a cost of 7.45 euro in total (and these are the new prices from April 1, 2015). My partner and I have had a short winter break in January-at the Almunecar playa spa hotel we enjoy the heated,indoor swimming pool and gymnasium.Use of both is free. We have an upgrade of room as we love to have a sea view and sun in the afternoon on our terrace. We enjoy the buffet meals provided by the hotel as there is a wide variety of foods for every nationality and the standard is good. There arre many interesting places to visit, in and round the town, and a variety of bars and restaurants where coffee can ... enjoyed. A pleasant stay during the Halloween period

We are regular visitors of this hotel, but we never traveled so late in the season. Actually the hotel closed on our last day there (Nov 2) and reopens Dec 20, 2014 for their next season. We were somewhat wondering if we would notice the fact that they were closing 6 weeks during the buffets. We would understand that they would try to avoid many left-overs from the last 1 or 2 days opening, but this was not the case. The magnitude of food choices varied with the hotel occupation (wide choice at high attendance periods in the week-end) but ... the nearby hotel closing had no impact at all ! The hotel has also again made some small improvements / renovations since our previous visit. We noticed the plants in the terras borders of the suits are being cleaned / renovated; there were new cushions in the terras furniture of the suits and there were now 2 flat screens (one in bedroom and one in living room). All by all we enjoyed our stay as we did all the previous times. And also good to notice: in spite of having to work till the last opening day all personnel we again very friendly and helpfull as ever. read hotel review

    We always go for a junior suite. It costs more than the standard room, but you have excellent advantages like : all on the higher floors (5th and higher), beautifull views, very nice terras, etc...

    Breakfast is very good with a wide choice. Dinner varies with the attendance. At high attendance (e.g. during the week-end) there is much choice and variation. Especially the Saturday is always very good. This time it was completely in the Halloween theme. Very nicely decorated platters and stands with "fun" like scary eyes (decorated cold eggs); spooky sausages (sausage wrapped in bacon with black dots as eyes); beautifull sculptured scary pompkin head; ... The guests took hundreds of pictures and it was great fun for children too. There were special Halloween coctails (for children and with alcohol for the adults) at democratic prices.

    As usual, the personnel is very friendly and they are all doing their very best to talk to you in foreign languages. Room cleaning is perfect. Sometimes even to the extreme. We got twice new bed-sheets in a 4 day period. I got an extra pillow within minutes after my request. We got the room we requested,... I can go one for a while giving positive examples.

    There is a very good and extended entertainment program, even in low season. On Nov 1, with Halloween, the entire day was focused around the children, with a scary dressing party before the dinner and a Halloween dance party after. Great for kids !! But of course the parents enjoyed too.

As said in the title, this has been our seventh time so far at this hotel (and it won't be the last). We're a Spanish family and we've always liked Almuñécar. We booked a room at Almuñécar Playa Spa Hotel for the first time in 2002, and since then we've returned to this hotel over and over again. The place is just lovely and the hotel and its staff and facilities are excellent. read hotel review

Very good holiday. We had an excelent vacation with the 2 childrens. The buffet is great. The night entertainment is a little bit nasty as the music is too loud, but day activities are fine. We did almost all activities and managed to keep the same weight at the end of the vacaction in spite of the excellent buffet. Children enjoyed a lot the MiniDisco and the MiniClub read hotel review

Littles and bigs pools, with bubbles, with slides and inside a cave (spa) , the best animation team and knows Delfi (the friend of the boys) , have got my childrens thinks the hotel is magic. The food is varied and very good. It,s possible very much trips to near little beaches. read hotel review

Giving this hotel an excellent rating could be somewhat exaggerated, but when I would purely consider value for money, than I would certainly rate it excellent. There may be more luxurious hotels than this 4-star spa hotel, but than the price is always also "luxurious". Our trip was for 4 nights of which we stayed 3 nights completely free of charge in half-board as a result of using our loyalty Club Playa Vip points from this hotel group (Senator Hoteles). You might expect a somewhat more basic stay because of this "free of charge" stay, but this was certainly not ... the case. Our entire stay was to the same high standard as usual. Some customers have complained in their reviews that the hotel needs some "refreshment". While the hotel can indeed use here and there some renovation we noticed several elements that have already been improved over the past year. Furniture in the hotel hall is old, but was renovated recently, old TV's in the suites were replaced by modern flat-screens (1 of the 2 TV's in each suite), leak in the hall roof seems repaired, partial repainting of part of the hotel Knowing what crisis Spain had to confront, I would call this an achievement. If the hotel continues its efforts for the future, this should no longer create an issue. Food is good with a wide selection possible. Free cava and water are offered during breakfast.     Rooms are comfortable and very clean. Sheets are replaced frequently and towels daily if you want to. Extra pillows can be requested easily. Floor was swept daily as were the bath, toilet and shower.

    Excellent service of loyal personnel. Most of them work there since our first visit 5 years ago, which I consider a good sign. All hotel personnel is very friendly and they make an effort to help you in French/English.

    Giving this hotel an excellent rating could be somewhat exaggerated, but when I would purely consider value for money, than I would certainly rate it excellent. There may be more luxurious hotels than this 4-star spa hotel, but than the price is always also "luxurious". Our trip was for 4 nights of which we stayed 3 nights completely free of charge in half-board as a result of using our loyalty Club Playa Vip points from this hotel group (Senator Hoteles). You might expect a somewhat more basic stay because of this "free of charge" stay, but this was certainly not the case. Our entire stay was to the same high standard as usual. Some customers have complained in their reviews that the hotel needs some "refreshment". While the hotel can indeed use here and there some renovation we noticed several elements that have already been improved over the past year. Furniture in the hotel hall is old, but was renovated recently, old TV's in the suites were replaced by modern flat-screens (1 of the 2 TV's in each suite), leak in the hall roof seems repaired, partial repainting of part of the hotel, ... Knowing what crisis Spain had to confront, I would call this an achievement. If the hotel continues its efforts for the future, this should no longer create an issue. Food is good with a wide selection possible. Free cava and water are offered during breakfast. You can ask your omelet made-to-order on the show-cooking counter, etc...

    The hotel is located next to the beach and you have a nice promenade between hotel and beach. View from the hotel -especially if you have seaview - is nice. Public market (on Friday), city park and city castle are all within walking distance.

We were not for the 1st time in almunecar Playa and as with the previous visit very satisfied. The hotel could at some places a renovation, special. The carpet in the hallway on the 3. floor. That was really not acceptable. Since the hotel was in the november for some time, there is hope, that with our next attendance (probably in february 2015) on the floors in the corridors work has been done. We enjoyed the food both the breakfast and the dinner mostly good. The selection was plentiful and good. We had a while and at the beginning of ... problems with the hand towel change. The towels were in the bathroom not dry. After the hotel manager asked at the front desk had switched, we could the towels when necessary with the zimmermächdchen exchange. With the cleaning, 2 times a week, we were very clear. Unfortunately, this good assessment not for the tour operator v-tours As our rückreisetag in nrw the rosenmontagszüge moved, we had a abendflug booked, the of air Berlin painted and on the lunch was moved. But the travel agent nothing. Family friendly hotel with an international audience in direct beach proximity. The place is good to foot to reach. Playa-guests are already when entering the impressive lobby with a great foliage, aviary and waterfall at home, new customers probably not much later. Also in the restaurant the famous variety and quality. The starters and obstfan i had no wishes open, everything very appetizing and also immediately refilled. Animaionsprogramm versatile. My room was spacious and nicely decorated with a view of the pool area and partial ocean view. It was clean, but the stone floors in some spots a speckle removal ... use, so that the original beauty again effective. Receipt and consultation in the spa are friendly and competent. The spa area was in order, but i would like to see a haubenpflicht. I can recommend the massage. Overall, a pleasant stay. read hotel review

This is now our sixth visit and we intend to go back next year April. Food is very decent with a wide selection of cold and warm vegetables; fish, meats, stews, pastas, fruits, dessertsFood is partly prepared in advance, but includes also show cooking and includes even made to order cooking (e.g. omelets at breakfast, pancakes in the evening). Everyday you can have cava at breakfast. Rooms are kept clean, our linen was changed 3 times in a week and towels daily if you wish so. We booked a suite (of course somewhat more expensive). This has ... frontal seaview and we had a beautifull view over Almunecar castle too (with superb sunrise in the morning). Booking a suite has some advantages like reduced cost in the hotel parking (and in some periods even free of charge) and a nice attention in your room at arrival (or in our case when we returned from our souper). Go for a room on the higher floors (5th and higher). Views are beautiful and streetnoise is limited (if any). Drinks are priced very reasonable and there is also daily a happy hour between 17.00 and 18.00 hrs. Buy one, get two ! We will certainly go back. read hotel review

    There is a public market every Friday at walking distance (about 1.5kms) which is worthwhile visiting. Hotel is next to the promenade and opposite the beach. The city park and the castle are very nearby (at 5 minutes walk).

A hotel of the have already gotten very old is. I would recommend a star off. But one must still say that it was clean. The rooms and bathrooms are large. In the hotel there were almost only spanish guests and so it was incredibly loud. The staff in the dining room spoke only spanish and a simple order like pineapple juice was almost impossible in english it was not understood. The food was ok but unfortunately not warm enough but i think that everyone could find. The breakfast was very to praise large choice so here's a big plus. ... The pool very small and beach chairs were very close together and a lot of noise. However on the beach just across the street is, it was beautifully quiet and for chair you paid there 4 Euro per person. It was a great vacation overall and one can the hotel further-recommend. read hotel review

On closer inspection, the decision 3 stars wãren more appropriate, not spa, but savings hotel. Pool and beach chairs are available only in limited number for the size. After 3 days poolbaraufbau there was also finally there something to drink. The course to the rooms, carpet was the whole time not cleaned stained and full mutzel smelled a little musty. Toilet paper there was 2 days not tissues. In the restaurant you felt like in a großraumkantiene too loud. With the food and the staff you could be satisfied. Further spa offer i cannot judge were once in the basement ... durcbgegangen the only thing which was a gym at lunchtime. My conclusion, it is a lot of renovation the pictures always looked better! Otherwise top position right on the beach the area really enjoyed. read hotel review

The hotel is ideal for excursions to Granada, Ronda, Cordoba etc. Definitely book a rental car (in the hotel). The town of almunecar pleased us totally well, nice small tapas bars and pubs, narrow streets for shopping. Necessarily the castle look at. The beach is a mixture of gravelly and coarse-sandy. The water is crystal clear. For all inclusive guests there was at the bar no cheap fusel, but original brand (for example Bacardi, liqueur 43 etc.). Genuinly the hammer!
