The hotel sees really great from the outside from, also the entrance area. The outside area is clean and tidy. There are many palm trees and other nice plants, several ponds, which partly on rocks traversed Unfortunately the rooms are totally out of date and had to be urgently renovated. What quite annoying was, the restaurants could be visited or buffets verlgegt were, because private events on the grounds were. You got on the same day is usually a short message to the room. Very often was married at the beach or in a landscaped open houses on the grounds. ... There were a lot of russians there, otherwise all kinds of different nationalities.     The rooms are unfortunately totally out of date and had to be urgently renovated. It was clean but everywhere are shortcomings. In the bathroom in the shower is mold in the refrigerator, the plasterwork between the tiles was already very dark stained, around the air conditioning it has dark edges... Etc. The air conditioning is but pleasant and well installed. Unfortunately you must around the hour let it run, as the rooms very fast again to warm. The balcony is nicely designed. Our room was on the 2. floor. We had direct view of the sea which was really great. The size from bathroom and room was enough. Unfortunately, there was not enough storage space in the closet for the luggage. We lived out of the bags. We had a relatively large samsungfernseher which even a german channel.

    We booked half board. In the morning there were two possibilities for breakfast. Once you could from 8. hours in the restaurant breakfast or from half to seven right in the restaurant palmgrove under the front desk. Better choice in the palmgrove. The breakfast had a great selection of pastries, jam and fruit. In addition there was yogurt, muesli with different cores and a hot buffet. You could also have eggs freshly prepared. Depending on when you came you had to wait, because it is degrees was full. We however always got a place. At night we had the possibility between 4 restaurants to decide: zicos (brazilian and bit outside from the hotel), palmgrove (international), spice Iceland (thai) and japanese. Unfortunately there was at all restaurants abridged extrige halbpensionkarten. Since we had a starter, a main dish and dessert out. The food was always very tasty. Only bad i found unfortunately, that the palmgrove unfortunately no very international halbpensionskarte had. You could also a-la-carte to eat, the you had to but pay. But there was at 5 days the week different buffets in the evening, which really recommendable are. (japanese, italian, thai, brazilian, bbq) During the day there were also small dishes, very good dishes at the pool bar. The price was rather expensive.

    The hotel staff is very friendly and willing to help. You speaks nearly all very well english. The cleaning of the rooms was always fast to the place. We once drinking water back ordered and there was no 5 minutes later on the door and we had it. Also you can go to the doors and asked, wether everything is okay. Per person one has daily half a litre of drinking water made available.

    The pool was really great laid out, with lots of greenery and a nice pool bar. Everything was very clean. You could also of the pool directly on the sea see. There were two pool with a short bridge connected with one another were, one to swim and one to 'splash'. There was also a small separate area for small children. There was also a small erwachsenenwhirlpool. This was very pleasant laid out. %blank% at the beach, as well as by the pool there were mostly no problems beach chairs with umbrellas available. From about 15 hours was the beach rather in the shade, since you needed not any umbrella anymore. The chairs and screens were almost without exception well maintained.

    Directly opposite of the hotel is a small supermarket and a pharmacy. Otherwise in the immediate vicinity lots of small shops with all kinds of. To the shopping one must only the road hochgehn.     Room on the 2. floor with a balcony, beautiful view of the garden and with a view of the sea. Room in general well maintained, even if already somewhat older, as already mentioned if one wanted to find something, then one finds also a bit. Rooms are but very clean and very spacious.

    Directly at the beach (the cleanest on chawang beach) on the southern, quieter section. Transfer from the airport circa 15. minutes. Shopping street starts directly behind the hotel and is 7 kilometer long, restaurants in all categories abundant. Excursion possibilities almost on every corner bookable, drive is recommended only with restrictions. Taxis and sammelpickup's gives it plentifully.

Centara grand is located in a quiet section of the beautiful Chaweng Beach in a large, well-kept garden. It has approximately 200 rooms and suites. The two rooms, which we saw, were in a good state.     We had a deluxe pool suite. It is rather a big room (about 40 square meters) and less for a suite. In the back part of the room there is a spacious bathroom with three closets (separable by sliding doors, otherwise from the room visible). Flagstone, geplättelte walls and furnishings are dated. Next to the free-standing bath and a sink, a big shower stall and a separate toilet available. There are numerous amenities (including sunscreen and feuchtigkeitsgel ) offered. It is both an english newspaper and in the evening something sweet to the room brought. In front of the room is a umfriedeter' hof ' (about 18 square meters), in the plunge pool.     Upon our arrival we were friendly and with a cool drinks received. The check-in and the room was easy. The staff is with a few exceptions very friendly and helpful. The english of the staff let partly to be desired, that other foreign languages were spoken, we didn't found. The cleaning of the rooms was cleaned to our good satisfaction, often the room was already cleaned or the cleaning was in the way, if we from the breakfast returned. The cleaning could be a speedy show, if two people as team would work.

    There are offers in the and at the pool, which we didn't use. At the pool there is a bar, where the entertainment is. There is a gym and a health club, and a spa, in the various treatments. The beach section in front of the hotel is very nice and clean. The same goes for the park. Also later show are in the garden and sometimes also at the beach nor free chairs. It is important, that it is also enough natural and cooling shade under trees gives. Sun screens are numerously present. There are two sorts of beach chairs, the elderly should be replaced. The swimming pool pool is beautifully laid out. It is partly also in the shade, so the water not too much is heated. Showers are present several; they have with one exception every day works. The sea was in the first days of our stay, noisy. With boards on the strong current attentive and the red flags were hoisted. Also in the place, the towels are spent, were evidence appropriate.     The hotel is located set back in a large park directly at the beach. The airport is with the taxi about minutes away. Directly behind the hotel the Chaweng Beach road, the a lot of shops (7-eleven, family mart, massage salons, tailors, pharmacies, opticians, dentist, hairdressers, banks, travel agents, etc.) And restaurants. To the rather fair center (bars, restaurants, shows) the Chaweng Beach it was about 15 minutes walk.

    Also here is the deferred maintenance clearly. Old calcified bathrooms and fixtures. Nassrasur is the 'modest' the lighting conditions and the enormous distance to the mirror a real adventure. I am willing to bet, that in these bathrooms still no one from the management shaved (or painted) has. Everything seems to be dated and dirty, worn and in need of renovation. Beds are good, selection of pillows is exemplary!

    Pool (as the rest of the plant) is definitely not a vorzeigestück. Enormous traffic (as in the whole hotel) recognizable. Rich variety of sports with a fitness centre, 2 times per day yoga, 1 times daily fitnesseinführung, daily soccer and water polo, as well as water aerobics. So for who wants it, the can! The chairs at the beach and on the lawn are always dirty or so old and broken, that you are actually already long on the garbage include! Moreover, the comfort (without editions ) much to be desired. Not great of the hotel accordingly. Same goes for the old and defective umbrellas and the calcified shower heads. Very annoying! The beach itself and the sea (when it is quiet) are spectacular.

    Directly at the beach, nevertheless just a few strides the 'centre' with the lots of shops and restaurants! Tuk tuk and taxis are directly in front of the hotel always able to be reached. To the many massage shops it is just a few steps.

Huge hotel am Chaweng Beach with great beach. In general the hotel is still in very good condition, even though the rooms urgently a renovation need, especially the bathroom. The guests are international, mostly in the middle ages. The internet works mostly reliable, although very slow. read more

    As already mentioned the rooms are in need of renovation. In the bathroom needs to be done. Everything seems to be a little old and used. Nice shower, but if you take a shower, the whole bathroom almost underwater, because the door down't close. The size of the room (premium) is ok. Disturbing for me was the partly very late room cleaning, often after 16:00, what i did not find it acceptable The air conditioning did not rules. You could only on or off. After 2-unique unsuccessful complaint i the accepted... , although sometimes a bit too cold.

    Large pool area where you can swim. The garden directly at the beach is very well kept and generously. You can always find somewhere also a quiet spot. Beach chairs are sufficiently available. Direct on the beach, there was too few chairs. The issue with the beach chairs-reservations are also, although it everywhere written down is that not desired. As from 10:00 in the morning are already about 50% of the chairs occupied with towels.

    So the rooms... Yes there are not the newest that is true... But that is not for me the problem... I 8. rather on the cleanliness and the was right... The furniture is a bit dark and the bathroom was really not at all my taste and somewhat in need of renovation... Schreckiche tiles and a large window in the bathroom... That was really took some getting used to... But a huge bed... Wow

    The location is great:-) Great beach and if you're at the front of the door has bars, restaurants, massage salons and shops... On every corner a excursion office in which one really book without thinking can... Also a scooter we rented... These worked great and i would recommend.

We thanks to the previous descriptions with some expected, but that the rooms in such a bad condition, not. We are against midnight arrived and our 'premium deluxe room' bed linen. It was terrible. Our room was in the building 6. the beds were nonuniformly pushed together. You could from the a into bed to enter. Only a bedside table. A defective electrical outlets/switch location on the bed. We had to pears from the lamps turn, since otherwise a krichstrom on the switch was. A connecting door to the room next door. In the bathroom was dripping water from the ... ceiling, mold everywhere in the ancient bathroom. A not closing sliding door to the balcony, through the wind loud pfeifgeräusche prodozierte. We have the next morning another clean room in building 8 changed. The baths are but everywhere worn and partly ekelig. The doors are not sealed vanes. The bed linen, the bathrobes and also the mattresses were with covered in stains. The upholstery on the furniture on the balcony was completely moldy. According to the guide are all rooms same size (except for the suites). Why different preisige room? All rooms have a sea view. The outside area of the hotel is beautiful and with the best, the we on the island seen. Pool, pool chairs and beach were very well-kept. The breakfast was okay. However, we have butter seen, the partly 2 years butter was expired. After our complaint was away vacated. Dived but on the next day in 2. breakfast area again. Trips are worthwhile themselves to the in the angthon marine park is not. Prices in the hotel way too expensive, since the prices still 17% taxes. This room for 5 star to offer was really an isolence ( and we had already a better room booked), before the seaside holiday, we have a large below average made, in none of these middle class hotels we had a dirty bathroom, such old, dirty and vergrauten towels or vergraute and dirty sheets, the maid service was Nice and friendly, the can for the conditions in the rooms nothing, even the ants in our room had it alone 'combat', we had the 'club' booked, since we were with the food always very friendly and accommodating served - in comparison ... to bored staff at the reception and in the restaurants, in this hotel deserve just the prices 5 stars read more

We spend beginning february for two weeks this hotel our vacation. Because of the poor previous reviews, we would like to provide our stay at centara comment. We can this not so confirm. It is true the this hotel a bit dated and in some respects, must be revised. The hotel was very good visited, seemed but never felt crowded. Enough chairs by the pool available. Guest structure was international. The currents (see previous review) we can so confirm. The sea was very rough. But we must clearly comment on.     This is our only real complaint, where we truthfully also disappointed. We had two deluxe room booked for location next to each other. Unfortunately this desire only emphatically met. Very bad organization from the hotel as rooms with a connecting door gave. This should have been for the planning of the layout with could take into account. So was a access only on the hallway possible. Caution deluxe -room is not what it promises. There are simple standard room. Much too small and worn. Really needs some redecorating. Only plus soft, very comfortable beds. We were already much on the way to the world but these are definitely not worth 5 stars room. Cleanliness alright.

A very nice at the beach. Great atmosphere. We have 3 times in the hotel eaten. Unfortunately it was the taste was somewhat tepid.     The staff in the hotel was, with one exception, very friendly and courteous. Wether for breakfast, in the restaurant, with the entertainment, maids, everyone tried very hard our wishes to fulfill. Like everywhere, of course if you're friendly, with a smile on their face queries. The only criticism we express here is to the front desk. Rather bored. We had two situations where you can call it service. For us a bit of the front desk deposit which was not possible us this within several days to the room concerned. With demand had with emphasis in the counter to be searched. The commissioned wake-up call for our trip was not taken care of. Furthermore would, with a german urlauberklientel of 25% (in a somewhat advanced age), at least one german-speaking service coworkers at the front desk for emergencies in use to have.     Activities and sport possibilities were very many available. The gym with spa, Volleyball, soccer, a very nice kids club, children's playground, yoga, Boccia, table tennis, entertainment for both children and adults. Very tasteful not intrusive. Our son has this very used. It was very much trouble with it. Children were very welcome. Beach chairs and umbrellas at the pool and the beach were sufficiently available. Unfortunately these be renewed also times. Were from the staff at the desired body brought and set up. Also orders for food and beverage were of the couch and delivered. Towels were from the hotel provided. The whole area was best well-kept. The whole day was expected, poured and blended. Evening entertainment was in the restaurant instead.

    The hotel is relatively central yet very quiet at the end of the Chaweng beach. The beach is very wide and neat. From the hotel one is relatively fast in the center from Chaweng. There you could get everything which your heart desired. Shopping possibilities, bars, hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, car rental and so on. Are within reach. Either by foot, taxi, shared taxi. From the airport we were within a quarter of an hour in the hotel. Air traffic was the whole day on times more times less (for us was not annoying).

The hotel has already better days had, before some years 'Sofitel-management. ' the general impression was, that small repair work not taken, and not so well maintained seemed. Front desk/concierge upon arrival not present. Part of the staff understands little english and made in comparison to earlier a reserved impression. The garden is as always, very nice generous and spacious. The sunbathing area -/ pool area around is now on the bar, themselves to order. Sleep was noisy singing guests disturbed. The staff at the hotel has quickly remedied. Urlauberstruktur accordingly too many russian. Also english, scandinavian and german guests ... available. But then passed things, you cannot ignore. On the first day there were number of cries for help from the sea. There would be almost a woman drowned. No help from the hotel staff in sight. We later learned, that one day before because of the strong current already two persons drowned were. On the final day is unfortunately a person, the later at the beach lag, drowned. There is at the beach a sign, that the current warns. Apart from that there is obviously not trained hotel-staff, the bathers to help can. You get the impression, that the accidents dead silence or ignoring them?! A woman meant ironically' the seem to believe, that tourist ja grow again. ' the current is certainly the time january/february very dangerous, since also a strong wind. Reluctant to complain we to. But this time we feel ourselves simply to a instruction at other tourist committed. read more

Our trip took us this year over Bangkok after Ko Samui to the many good rated Grand centara on Chaweng Beach. The location is OK. Directly by the hotel entrance the shops, bars and restaurants. Opposite are 3 nice young boys from Burma, the scooter rent. The hotel is in the entrance area and in the garden very clean, however you get the first shock, when the old ones shabby room enters. The wooden floor was scratched, the furniture relatively old and badly cleaned. On the 2. day our room to emphasis then generalgereinigt. The bathroom is with ancient tiles ... from the 80. And abgespiltertem washbasin. Sometimes smelled it strongly after the sewage, this could not be eliminated. The beach is very beautiful - chairs and umbrellas ( also ageing) are available. In short: the hotel does not, which the catalog promises and give not 5 star-large plus point is the friendliness of all of the staff - however this is for a five star hotel too few - we can, from the above mentioned reasons, this hotel unfortunately not recommend. read more

    The rooms were big and spacious, but totally worn. From the bath came a terrible smell, everything was old. The air conditioning was so loud, that you at night could not leave it on. The balcony was large and very comfortable. This had however the result, that some guests there at night the chairs comfortable and either loudly the whole night with the love home telephoned, or loudly but chatted have. Next to us stayed longer time a few from Greece, that the whole night discussed and argued has.

    We had only booked breakfast, it was very extensive, I must however say, that it was not our taste. Who however like fat, fish and meat, brats, white beans, fat roast, fats soups, roasted noodles, sharp food for breakfast like, is in the right place here. Also the cakes was too sweet. The bread (different kinds of) has bland taste, the three ( uncooled) types of sausage saw at 30 degrees heat already in the morning after a short time everything but appetizing. We then every morning egg ( is freshly prepared, omelet or fried egg) and jams eaten. Furthermore, there were but also pineapple and melons. Afternoons and evenings we ate outside, because the food in the hotel ( also the beverages) very expensive was. I know guests, there once in the evening ate, that you the whole night were ill, and other, the same buffet participated, also. Another tip: in the hotel there was a small bakery. The is extremely expensive. The pure rip-off: a coffee in paper cups to go costs almost four Euro. A cheek. The same baker there are still times in front of the hotel right: here it is much cheaper.

    We had a pool suite. The room is very large and equipped with everything that you need. Although the tiles not more in the newest style but nevertheless in good condition. Shower-walk-in closet-bath-huge mirror/coffee maker, mini-bar... And so on what else could you want?! The pool is not huge but always good for a dip. None can with its private schwimmgang in the pool watch! The disadvantage by the pool on the doorstep are the mosquitoes. And since the pump day and night runs, for those sensitive to noise people perhaps not just returned from plus. But if you went out of the door and a few steps at the beach.

    The hotel is directly at the beautiful white sandy beach. After a small walk we are the opinion, that the most beautiful beach section in front of the Chaweng Beach is. If you the hotel in the other direction (direction lobby) leaves, you are right in the middle of life. There are numerous restaurants and shops. Everybody finds something! The airport is only approximately 10 minutes out from the hotel. Some plane you with its landing watch. We found these however not as disturbing.

However one sees in the whole hotel that it getting very old is. Breakfast was good and sufficient however theme nights in the comparison from outside very upscale we would definitely not recommend. Beach section very nice also the staff attempted always their best, however even with the pool suite dated bathroom, rock hard mattress, sandy pool, partly shabby furniture. Standard room we have also seen, this but ... we definitely not changed. In comparison to other hotels I would this not book again no five stars standard. Will supposedly in October renovated.
