The state of the hotel bad, although it only 9 years old is. The rooms looked as if they had you in the eighties. The staff are really great and very nice. In the outdoor area it is often to noise pollution, we have been told that Ziegelel bake (directionnel rather than waste incineration). Outdoor area see also really great from. read more

We were 4 days in Sofitel Karnak luxor to visit the temple of luxor and the highlights in Thebes West.
Hotel:
The whole hotel complex has gotten a bit old/ worn. The rooms are a bit dark.
Beautiful pool area nile view.
The hotel lies somewhat outside-very quiet.
Food
The food is diverse and tastes. Missed the fresh fruit. Extra the costs freshly squeezed orange juice, what for a hotel this category not appropriate there.
Since we the whole day were out and room/ breakfast in D had booked, we have a flat rate for the dinner without drinks negotiation ... (regular 119 le per person) with about 20 per cent Discount.
We ate everything-no problems with stomach
Excursions:
Flashlight for tombs take.
Karnak temple lies on the way into town. With the taxi after Thebes west it is a bit longer on the way, since the bridge from the hotel on the other Page of the city is.
You should definitely next to the valley of the kings the valley of the Queens, tombs of high officials and staff visit. These are also worth seeing and you are almost alone there.
Generally there were almost no tourists at luxor-up to the hour of the coaches from the red sea invade.
Luxor and Thebes West is absolutely safe to visit.
We were in net a pub travel guide booked, it is but also on own fist (taxi prices see below )
Also I shall just here to warn of the bustle of tour operator. Already on the way from the airport to the hotel tries, excursions to sell, because they are tired of flight, no comparison possibility and sometimes also a time pressure is built up.
In D the transfer from the airport already pays, tip for pseudo-service during the check in in the hotel is not necessary.
A clue to prices for mitbringsel: 50% from the first price is probably still too much, so you were not completely ripped off.
To prices taxi and transfer the red sea
Taxi single travel to town center: 25 LE
Taxi half day (4 hour): 100 le
Taxi all day 200 le
Transfer luxor to Hurghada 350 le
Luxor is really worth seeing, the small inconvenience, that even the Kartenkontrolleur a tip wants that did not cloud. read more

we felt very comfortable here all five. The complex is appealing, very offering a clear view and leaves room to unwind. To the Christmas lights we had to get used to a little ☺ since Christmas here is celebrated 7 January were everywhere blinking and fairy in the lobby, as well as by the pool attached, is actually very likeable and funny. The hotel is perfect and had in spite of the size with its charm everything. Very cleanperhaps, since there were only a few. guests we felt always accommodating and the individual breakfast was delicious and they offered a ... very long period of time. Always coffee or tea to thrown over, if you wanted you could outside with great view sit in the sun. The dinner was relatively varied and good- wahrscehinlich very spoiled guests not perfect but we found delicious! We were in Egypt and no gourmet temple. read more

We wanted to see some recovery and planned a short trip to luxor. The hotel is reasonable and you can recommend it. The prices for alcohol are due to the country quite high. You will from the staff forced tip to give. The partly strongly disturbed. The hotel lies a little out of the way and you have always with the taxi or a free shuttle bus drive. I would say it is after the winter Palace was the second-best hotel in luxor.

The hotel comes in the years. In accordance with the room partly not more the standard. The sanitary facilities are worn and dirty see accordingly. The hotel is clean in general. The room are way to thin. You can hear the neighbors at all with. What is to criticize, however, is the quality of the food. Carelessly prepared and presented these are usually cold. The selection at the buffet is very limited. As has the hotel does not deserve a star. For a short break the hotel is however suitable. read more

It is certainly a good hotel, that has deserved its stars also. We felt the hotel not really in us and won the impression, that all in the gastronomy area much very uncoordinated and become somewhat sloppy is, than three years ago. We were on the through journey and had only a short stay.
The hotel is fair to either the Sofitel standard the five stars.
With little effort you could achieve significant improvements (cleaning of the bathroom, quality & freshness of the food offered at breakfast, partly very strong signs of wear of the inventory).
Otherwise you must certify the employees, that they always very helpful and friendly.
For a longer stay in Luxor we would choose another hotel. read more

Atmosphere and focused on older hotels rather english or french guests you could see that especially at the food presentation, as well as of the offer. Prices in the hotel Continental. Individually planned we were on holiday there in time to the beginning of march unusually high temperatures to about 36 degrees, pool was 26 degrees. Air conditioning was great, short on return from our day trips was enough. At night we could get away from it all (disturb us the fan), without then it was to warm. From the hotel direction Luxor comes with the free bus good (8:00, 9:30, 11:00, 12:30, 16:00, 17:00, 18:00, 19:00), the free boat transfer (9:30, 11:30, 15:00), by minibuses stop (we paid 1 ... pound to Luxor-Center), by taxi (it many waiting in front of the entrance) or by bike. In the other direction to the north is just a traffic control. Wanted us to not let walk to the next village, one lives here at the edge of the tourist zone. By taxi it is of course no problem, then one comes also further north. We were mostly with the bike (for ten pounds per day) on the way. The could rent at the hotel we unfortunately not, but were able to leave it there. Recommendation: rent a bicycle in transportation, but not intrusive, of agents from the ferry to the distributors to be! Back to the hotel: fantastic location on the Nile with great Park, great warm pool, without restrictive time restrictions as with other hotels (pool so also, for people like us and, the late return of tours). During the day one must count on the banks of the Nile with a irrigation pump engine noise across the nilufer, otherwise calm prevails. Our room was with a double door connected with the room next door. The is for families certainly good, but we found not so good, because we the voices of the neighbors clearly heard. According to escape plan are many room go hand in hand. My wife was woken up in the morning from the mopeds to about 4:15 the adjacent village, I have the with earplugs prevented (reference to previous rates: we stay to house very quiet). To be highlighted is the very friendly staff. Conclusion: we love to stay there again. read more

Actually a beautiful, well-kept area, if not the service would be some mediocre shopping. Is not necessarily the lack of will on the part of the staff, but evidently due to lack of training and organization.
If so, napkins, silverware, cups and plates, as well as the coffee is placed on a other glue service, takes the just, it coordinated the not happening.
If minor things to completely on are important, a guest can start a spider webs, until it is carried out.
At the reception a defective if cabinet door in the room only at the third message is ... forwarded, the guest can unpack just half a day not really be luggage.
If then also still each time after the shower the bath stood under water (and the water not happening), asks you, whether the hotel a good choice was.
Sofitel is a beautiful relaxed because actually the area with 2-story bungalows, quite large and comfortable rooms and a very well-kept garden directly on the banks of the Nile. The large main restaurant with the charm of a cafeteria you can save, if you only booked bed and breakfast and at the pool bar or in the separate ' o'nile ' restaurant à la carte eat (with a fantastic Nile view).
You could feel so very welcome also, if not. read more

The hotel has a large garden is the very well maintained. In the sun or under a palm, everyone found a spot.
Very friendly staff-also without tips!
It has one of the best buffets the we have ever had. Of the meals it was never overly much, but it was but each day fresh and varied.
The large, and both were the children's swimming pool (27 degrees) heated, this is a big plus.
In the first week we had february 25 to 30 degrees. Ideal to also to make a couple of trips.
On site we have us six other ... hotels and found, the one I children here the best place is. read more
