Nice hotel, great location, very nice garden, beautiful pools (inside and outside), comfortable loungers, spa and fitness well. Good food, for more than a few days stay but too small selection. In the room too few storage space for 2 people and a whole week, closet almost not accessible (why no upgrading with empty hotel?). Absolutely no event, almost no other guests. Host/hotelier (or at least his representative) was never looked! As a guest one would expect, that you are not ' only ' pool boys and waiter to face gets! Formerly beautiful climatic health resort of aswan is at ... the crumble (trash, exhaust, dreary corniche). read more

The old cataract is a dream hotel and the most beautiful hotel, we have ever stayed in (unfortunately probably also the most expensive). I am speaking here mainly from the old part, because we had a premium -room in the so-called palace. The pool, garden and the restaurants are but also guests in the new building available.
The room was a massive room with a also massive bath (bath tub and huge shower) and comfort, you can wish for, including free and good functioning wi-fi.
The hotel was 1899 opened and has a indescribable flair a mixture of english tradition ... and oriental elements, but everything in top condition and very clean is. I would particularly like to highlight also the friendliness of the staff.
The pool is big and beautiful and the garden offers many wonderful corners to sit with scenic views of the Nile.
There is also varied restaurants from the famous terrace with Nile-view, on the classic '1902' up to a oriental at the new building. We had the room with half board and that means unfortunately (as well as in other egyptian luxury hotel), that you have a european menu get, in which you only the main course can select. The old cataract, you had this at least 3 options and the quality was really perfect.
Somewhat negative was, that we on the first day said, we could menu in all restaurants take, but when we on the 2. day in the '1902' wanted to eat, was it not. We have then again very well in the oriental restaurant eaten, where you flexible and us any select left. The ' high tea menu' for the classic tea on the terrace is unfortunately with 240 litres. E. very expensive, but you can also a high tea order and a normal tea and the food parts and it works well for two.
All together really a very good hotel. Sad was for us only, that in november 2012 almost no guests were there. In the evening we were partly alone for the food and breakfast, tea or by the pool the number of the guests very limited. Of course, this has its pleasant sides, because you can always sit, where you want, but it is also sad, if you see, what effort all and probably can't even cover the expenses. read more

the hotel is freshly renovated, have in the hotel already 1987 and was at that time already really amazed. The Granite on the floor you can eat... Nice guests... ☺ read more
