Every room has a small refrigerator. I asked to be shown all the other rooms and Elena arranged for the maid to show me several rooms. There is air conditioning in every room, which is a great comfort when you are sleeping. Each room has a television and the bathrooms are a very comfortable size. Bear in mind that bathtubs on Boukari are rare. All the rooms here have showers. The beds are traditionally lower than American beds of course, but the mattrresses are firm and comfortable. Extra blankets are available and are kept above the wardrobes in the rooms which provide adequate space for your belongings during your stay.

As stated before, the food is traditional Corfiot cuisine, with offerings of grilled sea bream, stifado, sofrito, moussaka, grilled lamb and of course, the traditional Greek salad. In the mornings, Elena's home made preserve is offered as an option, which I preferred to the packaged jellies. There is a bar inside the hotel which is enclosed and you can view the current soccer match while you enjoy your drink. I observed that most diners sat for long hours enjoying the sea view from sunset until close to midnight, when the kitchen closes. Tipping is not included in the bill so one should remember to do so. I never paid more than 12 euro for my dinner, but I don't drink. I did however buy drinks for two other patrons one night and my total bill was still quite reasonable.

The first person to greet me was Elena, who speaks only Greek, but somehow, you know what she's saying. She took great care of me during my three week stay and I developed a great fondness for her. All members of the family are very engaging and freindly. Italian, German and English are the primary languages, as well as Greek and there are many mainland guests who return annually. The rooms are cleaned daily. As is typical of the Greek culture, a discrete and respectful distance is always the standard. When you want them, they are at your side and ready to attend to your needs as soon as you make your request.

Internet access is available inside the hotel bar area. There is a table tennis table near the public bathroom and seating area in the lounge. There is no pool at this facility, but there is no need because the sea is across the street.

Boukari is a very small, seaside village. The Golden Sunset has the best view of the Boukari harbor and every room has a delightful view of the small fishing vessels from the balcony. There are fifteen rooms in the hotel, some much larger than others which accomodate whole families. Breakfast is served in the open air dining area facing the harbor. This is a family owned and run facility,consisting of the father, Giorgos, the mother, Elena and two sons, Theo and Andreas. Most guests are German and English, but the menu is Greek and made by Elena's skillful hands. The menu is not the common fare of the typical tourist. The food is simple, not pretentious and the flavors and quality of freshness is superb. Service is excellent. I sampled everything I could from the menu. My favorite is the prawn spaghetti, Garides e Macaroni. The flavor is in the sauce. Also, the moussaka is among the finest I've ever had, with hints of nutmeg and allspice. There is a desert called Eckmeck that is like cheesecake, but not like cheesecake and is nonetheless, oh so delicious.

Cross the street and find a spot. You can find a place to swim anywhere in Boukari. It's a five minute walk up the hill to the next village of Kouspades and perhaps a ten minute walk to the fishing village of Petreti. The only shop that I found in Boukari is run by an English woman name Andrea whom I found to be very engaging and lovely to talk to. She runs the Peris market across from the Hotel Penelope. You can get most basic things you need there. Be sure to get a mosquito repellent plug-in unit there. Andreas can arrange for excursions upon request, as well as car rentals, motor bikes, etc. The best parking in Boukari is found at this hotel. Which is open from May throuth the middle of October, when the tourist season ends.

The rooms are basic but very clean. The refrigerator was good in the room. From the balcony you had a fantastic view of the fishing port with small Fischerboten. The front desk has a "free" safe.

The breakfast is simple; soluble coffee (tastes), 2 types of bread rolls and bright and a bit darker white bread, 2 sorts of jam, butter, a piece of cake. time there were cold meat and cheese, boiled eggs, time tomato salad or peaches. The food in the evenings in the taverna is proper Greek home cooking; very good and reasonably priced. The owner will cook itself.

You feel like you're in a large family; very friendly! The owner speaks German, his son good English. His wife cooks absolutely delicious! You just have to try the moussaka. No matter what we ate it was all very good and reasonably priced. The family always had time for a small Smaltalk. The rooms are simply decorated, but very clean.

The hotel has 16 rooms, simple but very clean. All rooms have a sea view. The view is amazing. The view is of the small fishing port with small Fischerboten. We stayed on a bed and breakfast, however, the hotel was a great little taverna tasty food in the evening. The guests were mostly German and Swiss guests.

If you are looking for much hustle and party is not the place; whoever wanted relaxation and peace was well cared for here. From the balcony you can see a beautiful sunset and the fishing harbor. There was a small supermarket just around the corner, the next town is 1.5 kilometers away. The small beach was situated right next to the fishing harbor. To get to the water is over stones (bathing shoes are recommended!) but the water is crystal clear. is right next door and it is very good fish restaurant. many greeks eat then some boats and it on the harbor.

All the rooms have a balcony with view of the sea and are basic but very clean. Furthermore, they provide a TV (some channels), multiple closets, shower and toilet, telephone and conveniently located also a fridge. Air conditioning (a must in the hot summer months!) you can buy it extra for 5��� per day.

The breakfast in the hotel is an easy (bread/rolls with butter & jam, soluble coffee, cakes, orange juice), but perfectly adequate. No one was also something about it, if you can get yourself bring some other things. Evening cooks the wife of the operator (were local dishes as well as "standard" dishes), which was delicious and also good value. There is also a bar that we didn't use. Of course it's worth it, but also to try the numerous fish restaurants in the area.

The hotel is a family; all of our family members are extremely friendly and accomodating. The operator spoke very good German, English, and his sons is almost always someone approachable for questions and requests. The rooms are cleaned daily, each with a TV, closet, air conditioning (costs 5€ per day) and a fridge. The hotel also boasts a free safe for all guests.

The small hotel 16 rooms includes, is easy, but clean and in good condition. When we were there (July 09 ) stayed mostly German speaking guests at the Sunset, but all were always very friendly.

The Golden Sunset is located in Boukari, a small and quaint fishing village. The view from the hotel faces the small fishing pier you, and in the evening you can on the terrace or from the cream pot deserts from see a magnificent sunset. The small, but clean beach is only a few meters away; there is even some beach chairs, which can be used for free. In Boukari as it is very quiet, you can relax; however you want to explore more of the island (which was worth it), you should really have a car - the best a small, since the streets in Corfu partly very cramped. A small supermarket around the corner, for more shopping and especially entertainment but you have to drive a few miles.
