It is the 2. hotel which in Colombo built (circa 1860). Of 'outside' a fantastic sight. Spacious lobby everywhere carpet made for. For wi-fi you have to pay. read more

my wife and I made a Hochzeitsrundreise on Sri Lanka and wanted this so much praised hotel as particularly beautiful Prelude, as well as the endpoint our trip test. Since then but only one night was, we very late arrived and early again drove, I can many points comment. Only so much: at first glance the hotel very impressive and one feels the old colonial in the airy and attractive (half open ) breakfast room. In the much too small, unloving with old 08/15-furniture equipped room lose this impression already again. That it was clean and warm water in the ... bathroom available are, is the only really positive, what I can mention. For the high price in no way adequate. The staff: extremely unfriendly and absolutely rude. As I from staff, uS kindly our room showed, converted three US $gave, twisted it face and said: 'small!'. (little!) I have never experienced. On the next day he put before, our suitcase to dare to wear and referred to other service forces, then not arrived. But also at the front desk we were( friendly, refined, normal dressed) very rude and rather patronized. A flu prevented then, that we the hotel again had. The hotel has 2 sides. The classic wing and the Regency wing. Initially I was in the classic wing-that is not renovated wing: window castle not, safe was broken, the furniture was very old and run down. Room was large, bathroom very old. Price-performance not okay. I traded the room, since additional a lot noise from weddings existed. Then the Regency wing relocated. New rooms, top condition, small, but really nice (usually more expensive). Tip: no choice sea view take. Rooms go for all bars, pool, etc. out, therefore a lot noise Backdrop. One sits anyway outside and in the ... night one sees the sea anyway not and need more peace to sleep. All in all beautiful hotel in top location with great dining. A bit more expensive but recommendable nonetheless. read more

The Galle Face hotel is the nicest and best hotel in Colombo. The wonderful colonial style falls especially and the friendliness the staff. the hotel is very clean and it is everywhere for cleanliness and Order taken care of. I would every time again for the Galle face and you get short-term and/or directly in front of Location always a great room for cheap prices.
the guests are international. Also many locals, or Indian guests have during our travels spend much time there. Equally a Singhalesische wedding in the hotel celebrated. Also among the locals seems the Galle Face the ... best address to be.
Simply again at any time! read more

A hotel with lots of flair from the colonial period. Definitely on the terrace a tea. Very Competent and friendly staff. International guests. The visit is a must. The hotel was relatively central location, for shopping you need only a few minutes with the Tuk-Tuk. read more

Well Known hotel from the colonial period. One has the impression, however, that all of us in this hotel on the old profile and the current for guests feel as sufficient service. If you have a room in the new wing has booked, is available at the reception of the first pointed out, that one to the other reception must. Where this is, first on demand. How does one know, that it at the rear a further reception?! It is also not noted, where it serves breakfast, or the breakfast buffet is similar to the very good and varied. On ... the sun terrace is the staff easily overstrained. It takes a very long time, until you get something to drink. I had a room with a connecting door. This was so thin, that I complete my neighbours can dialogues play. All in all a nice hotel with little charm. read more

Contrary to reviews our room was in the new part in recently remodeled shape. The situation is unique to the only beach

We had to our backpacking holiday '-a suite for 205 $Galle Face in the reserved. Big disappointment: the bathroom was without a window, the shower curtain was moldy, the bathtub/shower was it none rusty. From the air conditioning grew black mushrooms. The drapes smelled, and had long been no cleaning more. Also the mattress and the sheets smelled strongly musty so.
And used soap of a predecessor would I actually also not!
After long hours of discussions with the various receptions (it are 2) assigned us another room. Here everything was as should it be.
The price difference was refunded ... us not to room is a suite.
The staff was as described in other reviews, very low-key almost invisible. Also at breakfast in the morning.
What annoying was: we were great three nights at the Galle face and each evening was a mega high time-noise from the courtyard-to the our room was, until the early hours. So not forget.
Summary: in this price range it are better hotels.
The evening buffet at the sea can I really recommend! read more
