From Apollo bay led a 5 kilometer. long, good dirt road to this beautiful hotel. The maintained house, the huge beautiful rooms, the loungers at the pool, the chairs on the veranda in front of the rooms, the wonderful lounge with a beautiful library, the view over the pferdeweide down on the sea. If the arrival from the Switzerland not so far would, we would be regulars. Breakfast is fresh with various egg dishes and homemade bread. As supper there is a possibility a plate (with a very good bottle of house wine) to enjoy, the kangaroos the near to ... the hotel watch or in Apollo bay a restaurant to visit. One speaks german. read more

Arrive and enjoy.! We had the luck, these four days. Due to the numerous attractions in the surrounding area, this was the ideal length of stay. The rooms are very spacious, modern and clean. As it unfortunately September was a little cold, we could use the beautiful terrace with view of the sea and the pool unfortunately not recommend. The owner was so great, that he has turned down the fire with a nice glass of wine that is the ideal way to end a day. The claerwen is only breakfast, but mega fresh and cooked to order with ... various scrambled eggs. Nearby there is a restaurant (Chris's) which in the evening more than delicious has cooked (not to mention the great view). The claerwen so is off the beaten path, it is not easy to find, but you had the possibility one-time a great animal landscape there to find. We are coming from our vacation with a very pleasant feeling at the property back. read more

To our delight we found this to be a very stunning and special retreat. Very secluded we spend two nights here enjoying the luxurious comfort and watched the kangaroos on the lawn in the morning. Views and location are amazing. Rooms are very large, modern and comfortable. Spent a delightful evening by the open fire and the food served was delicious. Highly recommended as a special place to stay at! read more

High on the mountain above the coast floating is the Claerwen Retreat, beautiful in the middle of nature on a stunning property located. The house itself offers 4 guestrooms which is like an large communal Wohnsaal join - including wood burning fireplace, reading corner and breakfast room. Perfect for an evening added to enjoy a glass of wine! Everything is the luxury feel inclined, it is cozy and friendly. A cooked breakfast is included. read more

    The room was spacious, bright and comfortable, with a view all along the coast. From our room we could directly in the garden. It seems to be newly renovated, in tasteful style. We couldn't have asked for better!

    There is no restaurant on the hill and the food are in Apollo Bay a good selection of options. The night we arrived we drive to the village too and we could order an excellent cheese platter. With wine, by the fireplace! The breakfast is plentiful and excellent, with fresh bread, good selection of fresh fruit, yogurt, and fantastic omelet. All served with vast panoramic view of the coast.

    We are friendly owner been greeted us and to our surprise could speak German to with her. We were very helpful tips on the nearby National Park to see Otway. Our room was serviced everyday and the breakfast was served in a very nice location. Overall the service was pleasant and personally, but not intrusive.

    We had a good conversation with beautiful walks on the property and a little relax by the swimming pool in the garden. It was quiet and relaxing. There is a tennis court, free internet (with laptops) but actually it is sufficient to view.

    The property is nearly 80 hectare, and consists of meadows, parkland and rainforest. It has panoramic views both directions, and the Great Ocean Road along with hiking: We have some Kangaroos, Wallabies and even a Koala can watch. The road from Apollo Bay to the hotel looked first hit (5km up the hill, unsecured) but if you first arrive it is worth it. And on the way there were good views over the village, sea and the surrounding landscape.

If you love solitude is well cared for here. The rapporteur Bestiz spoke German. The breakfast is served in a nice setting, but unfortunately the check in not ideal. The house is, lonely, about five kilometer of the city and is only about a schotterpiste. The food, etc., you had to go and the Apollo bay is difficult, even if the sky is great! For the one night we were there was the way that is unacceptable. read more
