We had a short break and were completely contented. The food was very good and varied. Also the selection was correct.
The different types of saunas and wellness facilities are ok.
The staff at the reception, in the service (served us Roman) was very attentive and we were fully satisfied.
The room was very clean, flat screen tv, mini bar and safe were available.
Only the bathroom have a space for toiletries stand. Therefore only

We were 8 times in the schmelmerhof. This time it was the best vacation. There was a lot of in the house made. All the rooms are now lovingly renovated. Special attention has been on child-friendliness put, the children's playroom below of the restaurant is re-done. We were in the great poachers suite. We were about 50 4 stars hotels so far, but the kitchen is in schmelmerhof stunning! Only the savoy in Berlin and for breakfast the Hotel Elbflorenz in Dresden come here with! In schmelmerhof is the staff very friendly and but also warm, not 'lavish' friendly. The ... boss greeted the guests in the morning and in the evening same.
It is a joy, to be here my wife and i go every time with regret after home.
If we in the schmelmerhof come, we think about half a day, that we already completely for a long time there. We feel somewhat a bit at home. Great!
We must go back! read more

A wonderful hotel in a beautiful location, surrounded by nature and peace. The rooms, the spa area and also all other facilities for disabled guests in the hotel fulfill every wish. To emphasize is the amazing kitchen with the varied dishes and the cosy ambience. The staff are more than helpful and friendly.
My conclusion... I will this hotel definitely again visit, and... I will also this hotel warmly recommend.

On the day before of arrival with the front desk call the time of day the prior agreed. Would be normal 1:00 p. m. There our room however not was full, we were acknowledged already at 11:00 hours of arrival. On the day of the trip there this information not the staff at reception propagated, so that our launch in a slightly irritated receptionist at the front desk encountered. After a quarrel then the scrap paper with our time of arrival found. The way to the room us via handrichtungsanzeichen said. The orientation but worked well. The room ... was to our satisfaction. In the wellness area there were a pool with jacuzzi. Really top! As there is nothing to complain about. Then there was the separated sauna area. The relaxation area there isn't recommendable. Very high noise level caused by amongst others a door to the outside area the log cabin sauna to arrive, squeaked really pushy! My tip: 2 spatter wd 40 on the hinges and the creaking would be eliminated. Above the charge are the rooms for the cosmetic treatments. Here you can hear every word in the relaxation area if treatments take place. My tip at the hotel guests: no secrets discuss, in the relaxation area you can hear everything \u263a.
After and before the kiddies, i would like to water or tea. The was everything, however you had to from the sauna area (nude area) from around 20 to 25 meters to the pool take on to water and tea to get. I think the swimming pool rather less tea and water drunk than in the sauna area. According to the saunas only at 14:30 hours turned on. In consultation with the front desk the saunas also earlier turned on. Bio sauna, log cabin sauna, steam bath and an infrared cabin are great. To our three-quarters guest house had a buffet between 2:00 p. m. until 16:00 o'clock. Here we were a bit disappointed. Hardly selection. Finished cakes and tarts, 3 salads the every day on the new greeted, coffee from vending machines and a soup on decorated steel sheet disappointed.
For dinner we were unfortunately next to a zithermusikanten placed. He played really good music however had to my wife and i a volume conversation, so that a certain privacy no longer available was. Other tables apart from the musicians was free and not manned. The first dinner was a delicious culinary delight, my compliments to the chef. I had steak frites with potato corners. A really good food. My wife turkey steak on noodles, also super super good food. As a dessert there were flambé pineapple with cremebrüleeis. Delicious. However we found it unfortunately, that we the only table were at the pineapple not at the table flambéed were \u263a, probably was probably the music too loud \u263a
The breakfast buffet was also rather poor and unfortunately heartless decorated. The scrambled eggs was however great.
My wife and i each had a treatment. Both treatments were great professional and really worth the money. The dinner on 2. evening was unfortunately unfortunately the opposite from the first night. No zithermusikant \u263a, was bearable. For my wife and me, there were pork steak with spaetzle. Unfortunately that was not indicated eve comparable. The food had no flavor, not any! The steak just a sole because it was so chewy. What was going on? Chef changed?
The day of departure passed very quickly. Breakfast, (egg was good) and then from to the front desk, map out and way! No' did you stay like ', no 'a nice day still ', well well, a good drive we wanted. We felt unfortunately in a mass processing.
Unfortunately we were disappointed. It was not the first time that we a wellness hotel visited. All 3 previous visits in wellness hotel, also in the bavarian forest, were very other, better world. We are a very other 4 star standard. Neither my wife nor i are expert, however the service we got, not a 4 star standard. read more

We were very pleased this beautiful hotel booked. The front desk was very nice, competent and ready to help. The rooms are really spacious decorated and everything is available which one in a hotel this category expected. The spa and pool area are very nice to the hotel integrated and everything has short ways. The kitchen is excellent and the waiters the heart is in the right spot and is very refreshing. Unfortunately we did not have the large possibilities the great environment to enjoy, but these are for a longer stay extensively catch up. read more

We were for two days guests of this hotel and can the partly high-praise reviews unfortunately not parts. Where appropriate, some more more often in hotels stay more sense for a comparison and a review to get (we are about 6-8 times per year in hotels, mostly 2-7 days private and business).
Shortly: cobwebs on the lights in the hallways, on the fabric wall coverings in the room, in a corner in the room.
Loose and unsightly, several times painted too much silicon joints in the bathroom and at the window (2 centimeter thick brown silicone looks just not nice). ...
Dirt on the bedside table in lower bin, stains or a tear in the carpet.
The rooms are all very different equipped, with carpet, curtains, bed, tables, bathrooms and so on. Some of 40 years ago and partly also really 'new' of about 10 years. Here you really in a retro -hotel, what you may not expected and would have booked.
Also the public toilet's in the corridor have the best time behind itself, tiles, urinal and so on about 35-40-years-old (this is not a joke). Paper towels on toilet often empty, broken tiles in the 70-years yellow and so on - everything simply not nice to look at.
The receptionist hard-working her computer table high around us directly on counter raise, but about 2,5-3 meters distance, this is simply not nice and should not at all happen. There was no explanation to the room, breakfast and so on, first on demand and then only very short. The i had never experienced something like that.
To the pool and the saunas i cannot say anything, since we didn't visit. The whirlpool must have been very small and with 5-6 persons then already too good 'completed' are.
The restaurant is reasonable, nice ambiance (vault ), the portions may a spoon more tolerate, and now i am truly no window eater. Dessert is great. Breakfast was all right, solid with everything that you need. But the times of 7.30-10.30 are (just for sunday) quite short.
Altogether unfortunately, i would recommend the 4 star for the hotel don't understand! Those who might a kind of ' cosiness' searches, as it is okay, if you for the upscale price but a corresponding hotel searches, which should itself to further look elsewhere. We had circa 150 Euro for the room a night paid and i expect no dirty hangings, cobwebs on the lights (even if the hallway is.), runzelige apples in the lobby or ancient bathroom in the room with somewhat aufgehübschtem granite wash basin. read more

Very good food with romantic ambience (old vault, very nice service), fantastic large indoor pool, pleasant wellness offer to normal prices,
I found disturbing, that our room (of the category'birkenblick ') no toilets-door; you only have to think ;-the mrs blow-dries and i want to sport show see! Far i feel that the perfect digital of the hotel however a wrong impression the size of the room represents; these are smaller than you think ; on the other hand you are very pleasantly surprised, that the hallenschwimmbag was considerably larger than one first suspected!
In short: a/several categories larger room orders! read more

The hotel is located wonderful right in the bavarian forest, surrounded by meadows and forests. Ideal for hikers, peace and quiet or romantic. The building itself is a estate, which inside despite modernization a great charm. In particular the vaulted restaurant seemed particularly urig. The hotel is used for spa stays or while we were there the stay as a conference hotel. Free parking right on the hotel, nice reception with many pleasant seating areas. Everything was clean, pleasant and atmospheric suitable. read more

A bit out of the way and peacefully located the hotel makes already on arrival a good, inviting figure. The check in and shipments to the room was almost perfect. We felt initially in good hands.
Unfortunately when we give our voucher on arrival told, this would also the manor-lunch between 14 and 16 hours include. When we however tags our soup already had eaten, we were pointed out, that the offer but not included. On demand at the front desk apologized the employee for its misinformation from the day before, the soups were however will be charged with full ... 7 Euro - for two taken creator from a large tureen. Kindness here into question, on the contrary: the lady at the reception reacted provoked and said, we should take our coupon better read correctly. That this however from the outset from the hotel corrupt had been issued (we had 3 instead of 2 nights ), interested also not.
Apart from that, the hotel is very nice, clean and too many neat. The ambiance in the restaurant is very comfortable, also the wellness area is well done. The design of the room in the bedroom integrated bath needs getting used to, since the toilet only through a transparent sliding-glass door (their function with the adjacent shower shares) from the rest of the room can be separated. The furnishing besides that is however beautiful and comfortable, the room service exemplary.
The warm kitchen was excellent, the service except for a, two exceptions very accommodating and helpful. At the cold dishes at the buffet however several days in a row the same presented, why for example the salmon slowly dried on the plate held and the soft cheese, the less chilled state, on the board was and always unansehnlicher was. Here it would certainly offer, much less to present, but fresh and regularly to holidaymakers. It remained unfortunately mostly from. If you came later, had with the remainders to life.
Also the beverage prices are clearly too high: so costs a half liter of beer full €3,70 and a small carafe of their own bergquellwassers (the in the wellness area liter way from the water tap flows) with a minzblatt garnishes proud €2.80. for once faucet volume?

We are regular guests for years (stays between 2 and 5 weeks). Service, cleanliness, breakfast and half board, room size and furnishings are excellent. The guest care (commitment) from both the owners, as well as from the staff is exceptional and very friendly. The hotel is in particularly in relation to his kitchen very recommendable. Taste, quality and variety of the food there after our experience the most demanding guests. Conclusion: we travel a lot around the world ( is usually in 5 * or 6 stars hotels) and therefore have good vergleichsmöglich possibilities. We had the poachers suite and were with the room very satisfied. The suite was newly renovated and very pleasant and comfortably furnished. Particularly the bathroom with a big shower and bath tub is very modern and beautifully designed. The benefits of the kitchen were rather fluctuating from ok to very good. What we didn't like were the unloving presentation of the breakfast buffet and the salad buffet in the evening. Also the salad respectively appetizers buffet bread only on special request were served we found for a hotel with this requirement does not reasonable.
The location is very quiet ... and walking trails right on the hotel over. read more

Very beautiful hotel, the staff are very friendly. The room was clean and large especially the bathroom with corner bath was perfect. The food tastes great. The hotel is located in a very quiet area is super for relaxing, this can be also good in the pool, Whirlpoolund in the sauna. By car are excursions not far. We had a very nice holiday despite days. The quiet walk around the hotel after the meal times( even for children exciting by the enclosure) in the forest- romamtisch and relaxing for the soul.
The really friendly boss is for everything and everyone-simply the soul of the hotel.
Of course there were also all other family - relatives and employees very attentive.
Our round birthday was super equipped-because of unfavorable weather it was until the last minute made possible, on the terrace coffee drinks and evenings before the meal the aperitif on the terrace.
With the great dinner was waiter ... Richard as a service can't be beat.
He created with its fine humor a rounded mood.

We had from Friday to Sunday booked. The location and the hotel was very quiet, tranquil and very nice. We can only recommend, by car to arrive, since in the area himself 'cat and mouse' good night say. Recommendable is in any case the super delicious food - surprised we were with the beautiful and brilliant atmosphere of the hotel restaurant. Here was really something for everyone. The rooms were big and spacious and we had a a nice view.
We had a gift coupon from friends receive, we in any case for beautiful massages, Facials etc. Eat wanted. The ... disappointment was big, that we treatments no deadline got. The statement was, the too few staff present was and we prior to call the appointments would must agree. It was all of our first wellness vacation and we had already before we arrived, twice called, but appointments prior to one has pointed us not. Also is on Sunday no staff available. So as spa weekend we can say that this will not. Unfortunately, there was also on the saturday night at 18:00 o'clock the sauna cold.
On the whole we had tourist met for one or two weeks had booked. These were over this period probably be satisfied. As weekend we can stay for the money not recommended. We expected more. read more

Unfortunately we could, the hospitality of the family Schmelmer only for a weekend enjoy.
