A right next to the sea located 3.5 star hotel. The hotel is clean and tidy, several pools to choose from. The buffet restaurant near the lobby is large, tasteless, dark, half open, with very, very loud conversation music from musicians or to the indian dance. Food quality ok. The desserts and the cut fruit, also each quantity of ants of forth. The rooms were unbearably noisy. Till after midnight ran guests with screaming children through the hallways, so that you hardly his own word didn't understand. Despite repeated complaints nothing happened. Mornings from 5 o'clock get the fishermen ... with loud run and singing their fishing a. Near a room close to beach is the night then past. There are close to a kleinpool a bar for the aperitif. The bar for the digestive near the buffet but you should avoid. Only no-name alcohol, after nothing tastes. Ice cubes scarce. Ac didn't work. read more

Had a very nice room on the highest floor ( without elevator). The 3 pools and the garden are suptropisch and very well maintained.
Beautiful large, open lobby. Very pleasant spa and nice ambiance.
Unfortunately there is only one scruffy promenade without stairs and access as protection against sea and no opportunity the foul small beach to use.
Nearby beautiful small shops, but please always act.
Downside is the large number of guests against afternoon drawer stops and in the morning again departed. Breakfast was bad. We have half an hour bread and coffee waited. Completely disorganized. read more

the whole hotel complex seemed inviting at first glance and is very spacious. Strange are signs, that the lawn by the pool not could only be used. The pool edge was dirty, the pool- Attendant unfriendly. Geflügelknochen the pool only after repeated, stronger call away, a second towel must vigorously be required, you do not want to the whole day on a wet towel beach chairs. Many older guests from Europe, after a round trip there 1 night remain. It is clearly a hotel, that of round trip guests lives. read more

After 16 days tour/ Mumbay India and a variety of hotel Samudra Uday the (UDS) met all requirements for a beach hotel. All hotels experienced in comparison before cutting it very well. essentially all the descriptions of the catalogues vote! The UDS has 5 star category the for India are justified. The staff is it a day each force, this should be kept to the standard. We had booked a room atrium Exotica, see with sea view superior, Wi-Fi & safe. Cleanliness and condition were without faults. Air conditioning worked in the whisper failure free. Generally is only breakfast is ... served, but another four restaurants allow easy to see under German prices all boards. Everything is written on the room and no tip expected! In the immediate surroundings many mini entrepreneur, which the domestic Indian cuisine in very good quality and to 50% of the price offer see. Kovalam is a dreamy tourists/fishing village and on holiday makers, distance with the Tuk-Tuk five minutes, ca.1, but no 50 paradise. If you are looking for something like that, a few nights in Mumbay as selection and prices are very good. read more

From 01. 01. 2010 to departure at the 13. 01. 2010 were we as a family in the Uday Samudra beach resort to guest. Our expectations were 'borders', as we from Chan (Kerala) gana cherry of a typical Indian hotel with name- Brezze country einigens of items used were lack of service. The welcome was friendly, the bags were immediately delivered to our new home in the landscaped hotel. We had the double suite Deluxe with sea view booked. The suite was typical of the country with something in the years come furniture, but so far in order. TV was ... with many Indian or alternatively english speaking channels. German channels were not available. The hotel itself, made a clean impression. Three pool areas to choose from. There are, in addition, a small fitness centre, a Ayuvedabereich, room for a pool table, as well as a Internet PC in Central, close to the restaurant. In the case of the latter-the restaurant-the service was always friendly, tried hard, we were able to overlook the for Western cultures over but not on the duration moderate food. Alternatively, we have managed the us with a lobster restaurant located on the beach. Within the grounds of the hotel are the prices adapted the international tourism. This was clearly outside. Water sports offered is despite sea location not. Beach chairs, umbrellas and what else do you like outside of the hotel area on the beach so would have cost extra. Directly in front of the entrance are taxi's available. But be careful! Before we negotiate a fixed price point. The 'light house beach' prices vary from 100 to the 350 Rupees. There are the first on a proper driver the most expensive. We have lifted just 100 rupees and from our destination mentioned. (-:
Right from the balcony, we could look to each morning the fishermen at work on the sandy beach.
To sum up, the price/performance ratio is in order. Because, if you are going to India should reduce Western ideas and on a for us totally alien culture attempt. read more

It was our first visit to India. Our tour was limited to Kerala, with a two-day trip to Madurai in Tamil Nadu. We initially spent two nights at Uday Sumadra Hotel, toured for 10 days, then returned to Uday for another 18 nights. Given our general impressions of the areas we had visited, and in comparison to the hotels where we stayed during our tour, we found Hotel Uday Samudra rather nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were not happy with the room allocated to us upon our arrival, however, the reception promised to give us a ... different room the next day, since several guests were leaving. They kept their word and gave us a room with a view of the ocean on the one side and hills covered with palm trees on the other side. Our room was located in the new section of the hotel which also has an elevator. Our room (867) was very spacious, the furnishings attractive and in very good condition, nice curtains, tea/coffee making facilities. Big wardrobe. The bathroom was in good condition and clean. We had a problem with the toilet, which was repaired immediately. We unfortunately did not have a safe in our room, but safekeeping was provided by the reception. The breakfast buffet at Uday Sumadra was somewhat lacking in comparison to the buffets in the other hotels where we stayed during our tour. The Uday breakfast buffet included at least three or four different Indian dishes daily. As an alternative we could have eggs, toast, tomatoes, and occasionally there was bacon or sausages. They prepared the toast in advance which prevented one from having to queu for a piece of toast. (Baked beans, and potatoes in varous varieties was always available). There was always at least three kinds of fruit, and delicious little pancakes, and a salat plate containing sliced tomatoes, cucumber and carrots. The swimming pool facilites are great and there is a small library right at the pool, which was extremely useful since I was not able to include sufficient reading material witth my luggage. We normally like having dinner early, however, since dinner in the Hotel is served starting 7. 30 we were obliged to go to one of the several little restaurants along the beach. They served good food with the added bonus of being able to enjoy a wonderful view of the sun setting. Some minor inconveniences associated with eating at the seaside restaurants were having to sit on plastic chairs arranged on sea sand and once the sun had disappeared, although we were provided with very romantic little lamps, we could hardly see the food on our plates. After several evenings of this romatic, but slightly inconvenient dinners, we decided to try the Grasshopper Restaurant in the Hotel, which we actually found very pleasant. (except for missing out on the view of the sun setting). Again, although the dinner buffet at the Grasshopper was good, it was not as good as the buffets we had in the other hotels we had encountered on our tour. However, the food was as good as that which got at the seaside restaurants. Apart from the Grasshopper, there are at least another two restaurants in the Hotel. We did not not try them. One can always find things to critize, but our overall experience at the Uday Sumatra was very positive and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. read more
