The rooms were okay. The TV had Spanish and English channels. There was also a bad reception of a German channel. Apart from that, it had the usual furnishings - hard mattresses, a fridge for just a few drinks, a desk and a balcony with table and chairs...

The food was mainly tasteless. Many prepared salads or warm dishes didn't taste of anything. Either the mainly British guests in the hotel liked it that way or the cooks forgot everything of creativity and spices over the years they worked as cooks. The dessert buffet capped it all. The cakes were partly still frozen, the ice cream was bought (and cooled horribly) and the chocolate mousse was an instant mix. Absolutely UNIMAGINATIVE. In a 4 star hotel, the kitchen crew should be able to prepare the dessert the way that everyone likes it at half board which you have to pay for. There were hardly any local dishes. Usually just one at an evening. The wine menu offered a good choice, but it didn't show if the wine was just served in bottles or also in glasses.

The staff was extremely friendly. They understood international languages well. We think that the barred parking lot around the corner belonging to the hotel was an especially good service. You could drive into it with the room card. There were few parking spaces on Ibiza! The room service was okay, but we always found hairs of other people (apparently due to cleaning cloth), that shouldn't be. They showed consideration for sleeping habits. The hotel was suitable for wheelchair users.

Sports wasn't offered when we visited the hotel, but you could find offers in the surrounding area (tennis). The hotel had a small indoor pool and a sauna. There was also a small fitness studio available, but a few things of the equipment were defect. An internet access was possible at 3 computers, but it was expensive (10 minutes for 1 €). The pool was okay, it seemed clean too. Reserving pool chairs wasn't allowed, you have to give the hotel great credit for that.

The Bellamar was neither large nor small, it had an informal atmosphere. The service of the hotel was exemplary - very nice and helpful. Although you couldn't describe the hotel as new anymore, everything was neat and mainly clean. During our holiday, about 80% of the guests were British. We booked half board.

The location wasn't bad - rather quiet, ideal to recover. The beach in front of the hotel (reachable by crossing the street) was below average. Due to the harbor basin (the bay of St. Antonio), the water wasn't very clear. Supermarkets and stores with all possible junk were very near just like bars and restaurants with British food. The hotel was about 30 kilometers away from the airport. The location of St. Antonio was very suitable for excursions. In general, you reached all places on the island in less than three quarters of an hour. You reached the city center well along the promenade (about 2 kilometers). A rental car was recommended if you wanted to go to beautiful beaches and if you wanted to scout out the island.

Comfortable beds, relatively quiet rooms, but if a lady in the room above was wearing stilettos, the peace was gone, the furniture didn't have legs out of cloth so that every moving of furniture in the room above could be heard clearly. Minibar on request, the bathroom was good and spacious, every room had a balcony, air-conditioning, TV and telephone as well as a safe for an extra charge.

There was 1 bar and 1 restaurant. The obviously big choice in starters, main dishes and desserts consisted of try meat and fish, burnt vegetables, frozen foods or finished products and good cheese and delicious potato dishes. They wanted to do it well, but they didn't put their intentions into action. For example, the dessert in the 14 days was always melons, oranges, pineapples, differend frozen pastries and mousses! Unfortunately, the food was more British and not local. If you wanted to eat by the end of the mealtimes, you had to hurry because the tables were quickly set for the next meat and you had less or no choice in seats. Moreover, the mealtimes were kept strictly: Those who came half an hour before the end of the mealtimes had to hurry because the buffet was cleared away on time and surprisingly quick. Those who didn't think balanced, healthy and qualitatively good diet was important, weren't disturbed by the offer or the fatty preparation of the dishes.

The whole staff was friendly apart from the one or the other exception. Nightly disturbances were accepted and not followed, book a room in the uppermost floor!!! The staff spoke international languages. The room cleaning was limited to the most urgent things (change the bedsheets, cleaning the bathroom superficially, change the towels at times, airing). Complaints were rather ignored as mentioned.

1 pool, 1 pseudo spa (the 2 bigger bathtubs didn't seem like an inviting jacuzzi and saunas cost extra) and 1 fitness room with new equipment. There was an internet corner, the tickets were available at the reception. The pool was apparently clean but it was directly at the main street just like the terrace. The pool chairs were comfortable however and could be used for free at the whole pool area. But it was a pity that no employee of the hotel paid attention to that the bathing rules were obeyed (no reserving of pool chairs with towels, showering before swimming, not jumping and smoking). Shopping possibilities were directly around the corner and the free time activities of the city were very near at the promenade.

All in all, the hotel Bellamar could be assess with grade C. If you only stayed a week, this accommodation might be all right as far as cleanliness, rooms, food and service were concerned, as different nationalities and age groups said. On longer stays, the 4 stars façade crumbled more and more. With the approaching peak season, more and more British guests visited the hotel just like the whole island.

The beach was very close, you only had to cross the main street between beach and hotel. If swimming in the water of the harbor was enough for us, you were in good keeping there. If this wasn't enough for you, you should go to one of the many bays you could easily reach by bus or boat. Harbor and bus station as well as entertainment possibilities were reachable on foot in 15 minutes. There were just as many supermarkets available.
