The rooms are clean, simple and practically equipped. The staff are very friendly. The breakfast could be a bit more generous miss. There was only toast, jams, Butter and a small plate fruit and a glass of orange juice. Coffee, tea, milk, Cocoa you could as much as you wanted to take. For a woman is the breakfast, but men would like a scrambled egg food or similar and it must still back ordered and extra be paid. In the area there are enough possibilities full, exclusive restaurants and simple. Fattis restaurant is equal to opposite and cooks very well ..., but you own wishes very gladly taken into account. In front of the hotel there is each evening a Chickenmann - can only be recommended, simply but delicious! You can but also in the hotel or in the numerous restaurants at the beach food.
Respect for dark corners in the evening at the beach! A few was attacked! Better on the street along or at the beach in a larger group.
In any case the 2-day tour recommended. Costs 300, -$, but it looks very much, a one-night stay and the excursions. In the comparison is the book, because a daytrip costs about 100, US$. Recommendable is also a boat tour. The boats is possible directly at the beach in front of the hotel. The boys are super nice, costs 35 to 40 euros, inclusive lunch, stay on an island, snorkeling.
For party people had to go is every evening somewhere at the beach busy. read more

The shilds is a small ( approximately 35 rooms) an ageing hotel.
There is every day fresh towels and also beach towels. The rooms on the 1 floor are bigger and nicer than the on the ground floor.
The furnishing the front desk and the room, as well as the bathroom fittings are outdated however with the friendliness of all persons the shilds work (maid service, security, dining and front desk) is the luxury no longer so important. read more

great location, but renovierungungs needy. Size is pleasant, one sees that it is used. They tried, but effort is not enough. We had continental breakfast booked. The costs about 7 dollars. An American breakfast costs also 7 dollars, but we could not choose, without 7 dollars to boot to pay. read more

For 2.5 stars an aboslutely great hotel. The location is very good. Close to the city, private beach a lot flair possesses, the beach is not crowded, as shields the second last hotel in the city. Only a few Steps to the ocean. From the restaurant terrace you can get a giant sunset watch. Staff very, very friendly and helpful. Since this hotel many rooms has, is the whole atmosphere very informal. Rooms are large and clean. Anytime again Shields. read more

The shields 'is a hotel with lots of flair jamaicanischem. It is not suitable for people, who want a durchorganisierten holiday with entertainment, etc. It is in the small area without large own discretion within easy reach of all the known-from the reception, the ladies of the room cleaning, cooking and Köchinen, Secuity-men-the staff know a name are extremely friendly and cheerful, also chatty and the service is really good. All are very much endeavored. I had only booked bed and breakfast (continental)-is more than enough, you can prima decide what and where you eat. For three dollars you can ... vary the breakfast update or individually. (Evening) food of the 2-stars for attractive menu from seven dollar upward and the cuisine is creative, Jamaica Cambodian-oriented, the portions are good. The cocktails tasted (about three dollars). The location of the restaurant and bar are ideally located directly on the beach, so that one at all times a great feeling and had a great view (also sunsets). Highly recommended is the 'red stripe' beer. From the hotel it is close enough to walk to (roundabout) negril centre. You can pay in dollars or in Jamaica in Jamaica ($1 US = 85 Jamaica) $. By Jamaica is there is always something cheaper for everyone. Generally one should know, that Jamaica no cheap-destination is. Pretty much everything was at least as expensive as in Germany. Tip (TIP) you don't have to give, but often expected and should be-the people depend on it. (In Jamaica the monthly average income is about EUR 160). For taxi one should $1 for the miles and don't always the price. When you go shopping in small shops, markets and on the beach you have to negotiate the price. 'Hot' patties-filled samosas, you should try-are cheap and good. I would recommend for excursions 'Margot's tours 'you will find the very nice, casual Mrs on the beach or with 'Alfreds ocean palace'. (Native Swiss) it makes trips with about eight people in the van and individual knowledge. Telephoning from the hotel reception about four minutes for $230 jam. Telephone with the cell phone worked, but expensive (1.80 euro/minute.). SMS could I didn't send-to ask before our trip. The guests were from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the United States. If you're looking for quickly gathering to talk to, for those who prefer wanted peace, you could have.
Conclusion: The next time the shields negril holiday-we'll certainly go again! read more

The hotel, including the staff, didn't show any weaknesses. We were completely satisfied. The hotel has its own small, but very clean and tidy, beach section, perfect! If something didn't work (drain, air conditioning), it was fixed in a very short time. I have to say that we preferred the bars, restaurants, etc. after having eaten some times in the hotel. The chefs there are really good - in comparison.
Well, some of the locals have annoyed us - but this is not a problem of the hotel. But it was not much going on and we were probably belonging ... to the last tourists this year - therefore we were the only ones left who they could annoy. read more

Price/performance very good, but just a basic Hotel. As a single traveller very easy to handle. Hotel is accessible for other people. Staff friendly. Safety deposit box is not necessary. Trips are expensive in relation to the experience. Dollar cash. Rate note. Recommend to Reggea-event, even if you don't Reggea-fan. I was surprised by good Reggea. read more

For a two star hotel shields is really good. The staff is super friendly. If you fit. immediately complaints From time to time the service is a little slow, but you have to get used to anyway in Jamaica. We had half board. for breakfast you should definitely sausage, or muesli from the supermarket the continental breakfast with toast, butter, jam and fruit, you three days. No For dinner, we could always choose whatever we wanted to eat and the food was always good. The lifeguard Vincent is a great guy. If you want to know anything, or he can ... always gave good tips. In it we never had the feeling that he went for a tip, he is simply a good guy. The shields parking spaces available and there is a night watchman. read more

We (2 couples) stayed in February ' 10 for three weeks in the hotel shields and loved it. Shields is a small hotel close to the centre of negril. The rooms were average installed, but in good shape. The staff was from the front desk inside over the maids to the service staff in the restaurant or at the pool bar. We hated to leave hard.
Overall: for the price absolutely recommended! read more

we had a great vacation the hotel has an ideal location. right the long sandy beach, with many hotels, restaurants, sovinierschops and water sport activities. several times a week there are concerts. to the left of the hotel is not far from the city. It is a small, family hotel. The staff tried very hard the stay as pleasant as possible. The only criticism was the front desk. there seemed to be very bored and unmotivated. all an important message for us was passed by the front desk. the rooms are big enough. What is missing is a fridge for ... drinks cold. very good excursions could undertake with Margot. It is on the beach. She's from Switzerland and on 20 years but has already lived in Jamaica. read more
