Neat style house in a pleasant size and architecture. Beautifully arranged lobby, during this season but too open and cool to stay a while. During our stay about 98% of the guests from Germany. All age groups, many for example, some golfers. read more

    Rooms are spacious, nicely furnished, well maintained, not worn. Small seating area in front of the panoramic windows to Atlantic. This will rough weather quickly filthy, what the staff occasionally naturally not constantly removed. Tip: who a clear perspective to enjoy wants, should have a small squeegee carry forward. Balcony (because of the harsh weather?) With simple plastic chairs, what with rain and wind into the room be provided. Age, miniaturfernseher (see picture) unfortunately only with RTL as only german-language program. In case of bad weather you miss so solid news. Minibar with moderate prices. In-room safe for a fair 1,25 Euro per day. Bathroom with plenty of shelf space, shower gel and a hair dryer were available. No magnifying mirror, no tissues. Shower over bath with curtain. Bathrobes and hotelschlappen available, Beds: pleasant size, good mattresses. Drawback: only one, large filzdecke, enveloped in a large sheet on the whole bettbreite for 2 people. Tip: we take on all travel for such cases a sentence light summer bedding with (every möbeldiscounter for under 10, -€, weight about 300 gr) and the blankets a, to every body contact with the filzdecken to avoid. (see picture) A 2. large filzdecke is located in the closet

    Breakfast with decent selection of bread rolls and toast. Small cold cuts selection, but of good quality. Egg dishes in the warming trays. Dispenser less tasty. Dinner : we had the half board and booked, otherwise for the dinner 28 €will be charged, what first quite high. Included are however, unlimited drinks: water and wine (also with change for example of white wine on late red wine-both in really good quality) In conclusion very good espresso. The puts the quoted rate. Selection of the meals also here relatively limited (1 fish, 1 times meat, vegetables, salads, desserts, etc.) But also here everything was in really good quality. ' Dear class than mass' Restaurant also with a view of the sea. Pleasant discreet lighting, lots of candles, discreet music. Drinks in the very nice hotel bar for reasonable prices. To happa hour 6:00 p. m.-7:00 p. m. to 1/2 price, that means a cocktail then for 2,75 Euro

    Location, as always described, with fantastic panoramic views from all rooms. Otherwise quite off the beaten path, without a car is a stay here is less recommendable. On foot after agua de pau or caloura because of the hills and hardly existing sidewalks a hassle and unattractive. Journey time to the airport about 20 minutes

The hotel is exceptionally beautiful at the steep coast. The 4 star however only the great location, the very well maintained grounds, the view of the ocean, and the absolute peace deserves. The very elegant foyer (also with a view of the sea) was always deserted, as the bar on the 1st floor. This also has a nice view of the ocean, but if you are in the already somewhat speckigen seating sinks it is with the ocean view, since one so deep-seated, that you from the window. The room rates include the the hotel regular (bulletin in the room ..., see photo) requires are totally covered. Depending on which list you may believe you would for a double room with breakfast, a night, in january between 159,00 Euro and 176,00 Euro pay. We have for a week, flight/night with breakfast for 2 persons 726, -€ paid and thankfully no more. As the foyer hanging awards (including olimar) is we couldn't understand. read more

    The room was clean, very spacious and renovated. Unfortunately, the carpeted floor not renewed. He is faded, stained, worn and had cigarette burns on (the same in the hallways). Wardrobe or hangers for jackets etc.. Are not available. My laptop has a larger screen than the tv, but when german speaking channels only RTL be received was this lack negligible. The safe must paid separately are is however cheap. Cushions for the chairs on the balcony there was not and from about 6:00 a. m.-10:00 p. m. runs on the roof of the hotel an aggregate, in calm good overhead.

    We only booked with breakfast, which you quickly had, because there were daily always The same: - honey, strawberry jam, feigenmarmelade - billigjoghurt from the supermarket - scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages - 3 types of sausage, including ham from pressed - 3 types of cheese Very good were the fresh fruit and the fruit salad. The 'hot' water for the tea was available in thermos jugs and the coffee in a large heated pot. This arrangement was not only optically, but also tasted rather of a manoeuvre the armed forces than a breakfast in the 4 star hotel. The dinner you could only from 7:00 p. m. can take, that means at home, it was already 9:00 p. m. defendendo, we also found 27, -€-30, -€ per person for a dinner, although with drinks, much too expensive. For the dinner somewhere in the island we have ever after hunger and dishes, including beverages between 18, -€ and 42, -€ for 2 people.

    Sport activities you will enjoy in the hotel unfortunately not. The equipment in the fitness room are to 90% broken and the safety of the guest is no longer (cable winches are cracked, weights inhibited, the treadmill stops abruptly from full course after about 8 minutes, which has almost become a fall would). The latter was to our astonishment at the front desk known. Only on our complaint was a note attached, but a few days later was gone again. We certainly did not try, if a repair really happened. As from other reviews shows, the fitnessraum is already since longer in this desolate condition. The treadmill was by a guest already in july 2012 contested (also directly in the hotel) and is still not been or already again broken? The sauna reminds architecturally rather of a chicken stall (s. photo) and costs per person, per half hour 4, -€. There are neither bathrobes available nor was a relaxation room available, how should one sauna?! The pool is not heated and can therefore in january't be used.

    A rental car is exploring the area necessary the hotel is somewhat outside of agua de pau and is not very simple to find, as at the last crossing the signpost was forgotten. In agua de pau there is a small supermarket, the tourist office was unfortunately never occupied, the restaurants all still closed. There the island not very big is agua de pau without any problems everywhere.

This hotel we had booked last minute and were extremely satisfied with our choice. Our room was clean, spacious, bright and friendly furnished and had a balcony with sea view. The breakfast was extensive - in comparison to a usual portugieischen breakfast-everything was constantly refilled. The kitchen of the hotel we couldn't rate. We were the whole day on the way and in small, partly informally run restaurants very good, fresh, local and super cheap food. Because of this we could very nice contacts with the personable and friendly inselbewohnern knot, the us good tips for the excursions and hikes ... have given. This we can all absolutely recommend! At this point a very warm greetings to farmer 'Joseph' and his wife avira, which we know there learned. The waiters of the hotel was always friendly and hard, the guests to make everything right. Sometimes too much the good. on the day after 12 hours prior (at 3 in snowstorm on the motorway to Düsseldorf, change in Nuremberg, delay and finally arrival at the hotel at 14:30 o'clock). In the room arrived, i had a friendly maid, the the windows clean wanted, said, that i first wanted and the windows until the next day time. After half an hour knocked it strongly and violently on the door, it opened and came directly to the balcony, armed with cleaning pail was seen and rags, your duty to do so. We had us long and were pleased at the ocean and in the sun-and she unswerving the balcony underwater. So much cleanliness at this point was we then nevertheless too much.-= For people, who don't importance to a so-called typical tourist package holiday place, but as we gladly individually are traveling, quiet and relaxed place to stay and after extensive day trips and hikes quiet nights want to spend, is the location of the hotel really recommendable. To mention is, that the january around the off season and you cannot say, as it in the high season looks. We had Germany from booked a rental car directly from the airport, which definitely recommendable is. The prices are around about a third cheaper than locally. There were 35 Euro per day will be charged. Locally we wanted a day-for then right 55 Euro. read more

Our 2. stay in caloura us from the hotel and in particular the panoramic location convinced. The public rooms are completely renovated and the rooms are outdated. Huge beds only one mattress and a cover endure. To the location and interior everything has already been said. We will be back! A hired car is definitely necessary. read more

The caloura -hotel captivates with its gorgeous area above the steep coast. The rooms need urgently renovated. The armchair in the room are worn, the carpets stained and the furniture bumped. Also the carpets in the hallways, as well as the armchair in the hotel bar have urgently an exchange necessary. Despite we felt really good. read more

Good quiet hotel, however because of the peaceful location is a hired car very recommendable! The staff are willing to help and friendly and with English you could always communicate well. Unfortunately is the variety of the breakfast buffet somewhat meager. Every day there was the same cold cuts \u2639 Apart from that the hotel we can definitely recommendable! read more

    Rooms were medium-sized, many places to put things. The double bed was huge, but with a filzdecke and sheet provided. I would recommend this filzdecken - story do not suffer, there is also in other hotels and a ceiling for 2 persons is' almost' not at all;-) telephone, hair dryer, save, tv were available. The hotel should 25-years-old his, but everything is in very good condition.

    There's a restaurant and 2 bars. The breakfast and the two menüabende, we participated, were very good. Quantity and quality of the dishes were excellent. The kückenstil is' typical of the country'. The prices are ok. ( example: dinner buffet with several appetizers and desserts and 2 main dishes included red and white wine, beer, coffee and tea cost between and Euro/ per person)

    The staff are very friendly. The room was clean. Laundry service is available and expensive ( example: 1 t-shirt 5,50 Euro), but we didn't use it. There is portuguese and very good English spoken.

    The' beach' is a few meters diagonally below of the hotel. There are shops in the city. We have 2 restaurants found, in which you good to very good could eat. Apart from that 'dead' in the place, but because of the peace we wanted to have there.

We deliberately because of the many detailed hotel reviews for our honeymoon in the azores in hotel Caloura decided and didn't regret it! The average age mixed - however predominantly older, which we explicitly-the peace because-were looking for. We have no rental car borrowed, since we only a week in the azores, and the mostly about us to relax, less the sights of interest the island to explore. We have through the previous hotel reviews a great impression and weren't disappointed. read more

    We were in the 2nd floor on side of the hotel with the pool-view and very satisfied. The room was pleasant spacious and comfortable armchairs in the interior area equipped. The balcony big enough, however unfortunately only with uncomfortable cheap plastic -chairs equipped. Here one could at least with long controlled backrest be. The mini bar was moderately filled (no snacks, only drinks) and quite expensive. It is cheaper at the snack bar in the outdoor area by the pool large bottles of water to buy in the mini bar to bodies (2 large bottles of fit to purely). The cheapest you buy the water however in the nearby located place agua de pau. The safe is very convenient, however quite small. Our netbook did not fit purely. The telephone expenses we have in the room not found, but on the bill for phone calls to Germany with appropriate 17 cents per minute of usage has been.

    The restaurant offers at the weekend evenings only the buffet and no à la carte. This was not for us into question, since 30 Euro per person for our taste too expensive. Cheaper eats in the restaurants in town, for example in agua de pau. The guests the bar was only a only waitress served, so if they were well visited one already times 1 hour had to wait until you with the other guests was ready (mostly this was only in the happy hour the case). It was however very friendly and the cocktails were very good in spite of the reasonable price. Favorites: acores sunshine and grasshopper (both cream -cocktails to 4 Euro / happy hour: 2 Euro) peanuts are available for free and the small snacks as toasts and sandwiches were also cheap and delicious. We have one or another evening rather on the couch in the bar spent and in the restaurant. Very comfortable and dreamlike sea view.

    English or portuguese understand is as a guest in this hotel duty. Otherwise it will be somewhat pedantically with hands and feet! ;-) From the staff you didn't notice much and this is also good sunday At reception we were always friendly inquiries. Our room was cleaned daily and cleaned between and hours. In this period we were however anyway almost always by the pool or on the way. The laundry service is unfortunately very expensive ( around 5 Euro per item).

    The pool is wonderful, with a entrance area from 1.20 meters and deepest range of 3,5 meters. The he chlorine treated smells not, notices in the water the taste, but it is however always clean. A free beach chair we always found - and to our delight were all hotel guests pleasantly calmly, so that one wonderful relaxation could. The small beach the good on foot in 5 minutes reachable is smells unfortunately unpleasantly and stormy waves completely flooded. We have therefore only in the pool bathed.

We have no rental car borrowed, since we only a week in the azores, and the mostly about us to relax, less the sights of interest the island to explore. We have through the previous hotel reviews a great impression and weren't disappointed.

    The airport is less than half an hour easy to reach. In the hotel shows however from the airport nothing what we found pleasant. In the nearby located place agua de pau-you really good on foot reached. We required about 20 minutes very slow pace since the slope is considerable. However blows on the way always a wind, the it a bearable. Otherwise we have on vacation rarely in a hurry. :-) there we several times with reasonable water and wine for the time in the hotel set.

    We have rarely seen on vacation for breakfast such a varied selection of rolls received. These were always fresh, partially even warm. Especially delicious, even the for the azores typical fresh -cheese. Not so good were the juices, all incredibly sweet and sticky. Over the dinner we can't say anything, since we only ate out.

    The cleaning staff is very meticulous and exactly. So we were given for example every day fresh bedding. On a complaint in the room only with further inquire further response. Particularly praiseworthy the kindness of the two bar -employees, a lady and a gentleman. Also the staff at breakfast were was very friendly and accommodating.

    The location on the steep coast is truly breathtaking. We had a room on the 2 floor with a view on the pool and to the sea. Every room had view of the sea.

The hotel is located in a very quiet area, it was still beautiful. You have a very nice sea view, you of the pool from can. By car you are right in the main town. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I would gladly again there spend my holiday. read more

Directly at the start, it was a wonderful vacation. We knew, that the hotel a bit off the beaten path and therefore, we had our travel offer a rental car with integrated. This should prove to be very useful. The hotel lies on a cliff, all rooms have view of the sea. The balconies are by a wall separated. 2 floors high. We were on the 2nd floor. Had wines wonderful view of the sea, the bathing beach and after ponta delgada. Every evening we could the sight of the sunset view. In the hotel itself it is in a ... very quiet location, what we for very pleasant found. In the week stayed 4 nights with 2 times live music, a folklore evening, as well as whale watching presentation. The breakfast was sufficient. There was every day the same sausage ( 3 types of ), cheese ( 2 sorts of ), scrambled egg, boiled egg, fried ham and sausages. There was the diversity the rolls good. Muesli, coffee, milk, juices, water, everything was sufficiently available. Once we were for dinner. There was fish, which was excellent. The ambience for this evening really impressed us. We were each evening in the bar. There you could most amazing sunsets view. The drinks were excellent. It wasn't missing anything, each drinks there were free nuts. The pool area was great. My wife used this repeatedly. I went to the cliff walk. We used but also the black sandy beach, which in circa 5 minutes away by foot reachable was. By the rental car we could many excursions on the island undertake. Wonderful excursions I can to lagoa the side cidades. Lagoa do Fogo, lagoa do furnas, hot sulphur springs in furnas, pico do Fogo, the ermida de nossa senhora da paz, of the city ponta delgada, ribeira grande, villa Franca de campo, as well as the whale watching recommend. The airport is a real airport, because once you get from the plane and went over the tarmac to exit, however under strengdsten conditions. It was in any case funny. read more

Hotel Caloura we really liked and our expectations were fully met. But a little criticism must be. The mattresses are very hard and the blanket is really unhygienic. We got more often when we required and expected, fresh bedding, but on the fresh Sheet came just the old blanket. It is really impossible, that time in the sleep not with the ceiling comes into contact, because the sheet remains at night not so as you in the evening killings and the idea as lots of guests already so covered have, is not very pleasant! It would be desirable new Ceilings ... buy it in casings to put, makes more work, but for the guests it would be a better feeling. We recommend definitely a rental car, because the island is way too beautiful just by the pool to lie. For hiking is Sao Miguel ideal, the hiking trails are well signposted and marked. read more

The hotel lies beautiful and very peaceful, so that but also isolated, so that a rental car a must is. There is shops and few restaurants in the also on foot the place aqua de Pau; but apart from that is the vacation very lonely. From the room from there is a wonderful view on the sea; exactly good is however also lack of curtains the insight of the in front of the hotel nearby lawn, at least, if you on the ground floor lives. So big the rooms, so small the TV, furthermore only a German speaking program ( ... RTL). Wi-Fi possible, however just at a fee from 3,00 Euro per hour! The neutralweiße light in the bathroom is a nightmare for each woman at the rouge. Warmtonleuchtstoffröhren costs but not more. A bit more variety for the food - the basically not bad-we would have wished for, both for breakfast as well as during dinner. Noticeable is the 'neutrality' of the staff opposite the guests, we in still no hotels so had determined. Both at the front desk as well as in the dining room was seldom a greeting, never mind in which language, to hear. Despite all the shortcomings, we would the hotel because of its exceptionally beautiful location recommend. read more

Very nice hotel with a dreamlike view of the open sea. To the hotel includes a garden, through which you directly to the cliffs is, to for instance in the evening with a bottle of wine waves to watch. The staff are very friendly. The hotel made us a clean impression. On arrival the hotel was difficult to find as in a one-way streets -chaos prevails. We had only booked breakfast and from the breakfast buffet not disappointed. For dinner we can't statement meeting, because we always ate out. read more
