- Room
1: I stayed with my wife and we were given a room with two single beds instead of queen bed. No amenities for tea and coffee. The carpet was stained. The kitchenette and steal sink was dirty and sticky. Rubber seal of shower glass was broken so water spilled on bathroom floor whenever we took a shower. The curtain was unhooked from one side so we couldn’t cover 6 inch portion of window and had to cover eyes from sunlight while sleeping.
- Gastronomy
Breakfast was good. Croissants were one of the best I ever had. Selection of jams, honey, cheese, mortadella was excellent. Salmon slices were too thick. Juice label was “FRESH ORANGE JUICE” while we could easily tell that it was bottled juice. I told staff and he just smiled. Tea was cold when mixed with milk. 97% of items remained same throughout week and one cannot eat same every day.
- Service
1: Housekeeping was bad. They didn’t clean our room daily and we had to call them many times. Once they came they were very rude and behaved like they were doing a favor.
When we went to our room on first day, fridge had juices, soft drinks and chocolates. We went out and returned after 30 minutes and fridge was empty. Some hotel staff entered our room when we were out and emptied fridge. Our stay was already paid by my agent and they feared that we may not pay for the mini bar. Shocking and shameful act as it was worth 7 $ or less. And to make it worst we were asked at checkout whether we consumed mini bar. Assistant Manager Food and Beverage could not give any reason and said that we will investigate.
2: On checkout day a Saudi guy came to our door at 02.05 PM and started banging the door when I was in shower. I looked through door peep hole and he said, you have to checkout. I said that I was informed by my agent to checkout at 03.00 PM but anyhow I will be down in half hour. He said “you are already 5 minutes late and I will wait outside until you come out”. I quickly wrapped a towel and went out to tackle him over his attitude but he was gone. In next 15 minutes 2 more persons came and asked me to leave the room. I went to reception and complained to reception manager Mr. Adel and asked for the guy who came to my room first. He apologized but refused to look for the guy. I insisted and hotel General Manager Mr. Hany came to apologize but he also couldn’t find the guy which suggests that either they didn’t want to or these expatriate managers cannot control the Saudi national staff.
3: At check in I requested for KA’BAA view against payment. Talked to 2 reception staff and those Saudis were very rude. Finally Reception Manager promised an upgrade for last night. Went to reception on 5th April for upgrade. The man at the reception talked to the Reception Manager on phone and replied “He says that he never promised anyone for upgrade”.
- Sport & Entertainment
NO gym
NO pool
The Business Center had only one computer and it was busy all the time.
- Hotel
Good building and location "BUT" poorly managed and rude staff
- Location
Location is excellent. One step out of hotel building and you are in HARAM in front of MALIK ABDUL AZIZ door. The lifts can carry above 600 people at a time so you never have to wait.
