Hotel Topaz & Tourmaline^{(2 stars)}

Very nicely located hotel on the hill above kandy. We were in one of the renovated room on the 3. floor and they are really great, the bathroom is though a bit small, however very nice. Food was also very good and the staff is as everywhere very friendly. The only thing which not at all folded was the safe. It was free, but despite technician he has not worked and so it was almost all of our group. read more

Just for one night ok. Very remote, room not very sound proof. The wide view is very nice, only directly under our bedraggled balcony a yard with more herumstehendem scrap metal as charm. Great location with a view of kandy, however during our stay extensive renovation in progress. Our floor was already finished, great design of inefficient craftsmen. Light switches you had to up to 10'. Activities before the light-and had switched it off. Assembling shower wrong, no rails for towels. The route to the hotel decorated because of the narrow and winding street rather difficult. At the hotel arrived the view than first on the worn down facade and the ugly air-conditioning devices outside balconies. The hotel lobby and the front desk are actually really beautiful. During our short stay (two nights) was in the floor about us a large construction site, the construction noises of course was in the late afternoon on arrival to hear clearly. The dusty course on the way to our room was with a bauvorhang sealed, but much has it not. The dinner found one ... evening in a large room on the top floor instead of, as this evening on the terrace to the normal dinner buffet was also grilled. When my neighbour at table from the klimalüftung on the head and on the plate food, the food was on this evening rather not so great. Against on the next day when we normal dining room breakfast and dinner had, it was really very good and delicious! Because the hotel above kandy is, you a wonderful view, the is however already actually everything with the hotel points. The rooms had its best days definitely behind, the bathroom smelled musty, both the ventilation, as well as the ancient air conditioning were very loud. Would be a good hotel, if no construction available would be. The upper floors are pure construction site. The rooms more than run-down, mold in the bathroom, very small. Balcony from the dust of the construction site fully. Noise, no blow one's top until 18 o'clock possible, since stemmarbeiten carried out were. That is unacceptable. We had apparent bad luck in this hotel. When we ran the cockroaches in the hallway. Furthermore, that the first half of our Ganges construction and we through dust, to construction past, to our room had. The bathrooms were moldy and old. The air conditioning one could not adjust however also not off. The bed stunk. The pillows was not at all only usable, because it was damp and smelled. The hotel is noticeably ageing. The furnishing of the rooms is much run-down or not or only partially functional ( safe, air conditioning). Solid and loud construction ( dismantling work with Hammering and bohrern ) place during of the hotel business instead of. The food is sufficient and enjoyable, but evenly 0815 and not made with love. After the dinner you will about 9:15 P. M. gone. In the lobby there was a jeweler, whose staff the guests downright bothered. The pool is by a steep fliers reachable and makes a tidy impression. Seats in the outdoor area of ... the hotel is completely missing, so you can great view unfortunately only conditionally enjoy. read more

After an exciting and adventurous driving directions up to the top of the hill, where the hotel is, we were of the view fantastic. We have here during our round trip 2 nights in the hotel. Balcony always had good remain, because the monkeys climb at the wall of the house high into the room ( photo). Very nice front desk in the hotel. We got just a ice tea as Willkommenstrink. The check in went briskly. Unfortunately there is no free Wi-Fi. The rooms are not very big, but comfortable. The bed was great. In the bathroom was everything ..., what you need, but not very big. The hotel is somewhat outdated now. A part of the hotel was already locked. Here started the Modernisierungsmaßen already at. The staff were relatively friendly and very fast. The dinner, as well as the breakfast were rich, the desserts delicious. There were locals and international cuisine in buffet form offered. A lot was very hot spiced. We stayed for two nights during our round trip by Sri Lanka in this hotel. Since large tour buses not to the hotel drive, we were from the hotel's own shuttle bus picked up. The drive was for us as a very adventurous, as all the seats and Notsitze were occupied. There was no hallway as in a' normal' bus. We found this quite funny and efficient photographed. But what if an accident should happen, we would like to not imagine. Perhaps the hotel should in this case the safety its guests Worry about. The reception in the hotel was ... very friendly. And there was a welcome drink, we could enjoy - ice tea. The rooms have an acceptable size. The bathroom is very small and offers little places to put things. For two nights is this but OK. Cell phones and rechargeable batteries for the Kamres we using an adapter on the shaving plug in the bathroom loaded. Unfortunately there were whilst showering on both evenings only hot water. This is exactly unpleasant as it would only cold water give. The staff are very friendly. The dinner offered locals and international cuisine in buffet form. The local dishes were very good to hot and very tasty. The breakfast left in its selection nothing to be desired. After the dinner spent the rest of the evenings in the comfortable bar with discreet live music. A beer a 625 millilitre cost 500 rupees and was converted 3,10 Euro but quite expensive. You can go for a drink with Arak better. This costs 175 rupees (1.10 Euro) for 50 millilitres. read more

The hotel lies on a hill the hilly Kandy. From there one has with good weather a great view. The furnishing of the rooms is a little poor and the condition was rather in need of renovation. Nevertheless we stayed during the 2 nights during the round trip definitely felt at ease. The employees are very friendly and the offered meals are great. Good selection and tasted very appealing. From us a clear yes and no, that means I would book it again if I in Kandy nothing other passables would find. read more

Simple an ageing hotel. For 2 nights on a round trip completely okay. For longer stay not recommendable. Hotel by coach not reachable. With the hotel's own shuttle bus however not a problem. Definitely the sunset from the rooftop terrace! read more

The hotel was once again a more simple practical house. The rooms were big enough, the balcony available but not nice, kitchenette in the room available, as well as tv, safe unfortunately not. The bathroom was small but functional. The pool is located between two hotels inconvenient over stairs. Pool reasonable size, couches erneuerungswürdig. This hotel is outdated and requires renovation. The staff were very nice and attentive, a birthday cake was as a surprise! The lobby was OK, partially with live music only the Schmuckverkäufer from the shop were annoying! read more

We were 2 nights in the hotel Tourmalines. It and loved it. The room was very reasonable and clean. In terms of size completely fine. The staff were very friendly and helpful. 1 night menu in the restaurant of the hotel, what is not so great is. The other evening a bar-B-queue was on the below of the hotel nearby terrace and very good. Lots of different food, good quality and very nice atmosphere. The driving directions is a bit difficult and long but the view is from the hotel from sublime! We are going back! read more

Topaz is a typical three stars Roundtrip hotel. It is a bit isolated but beautifully situated on a hill with a view of Kandy and surroundings. The staff are throughout very friendly and helpful. The rooms are a bit shabby. read more

To middle our round trip we arrived in this very beautiful hotel, which on a mountain it was perched throne-like, and from which you can enjoy a magnificent view on Kandy and the area had. The pool area was in terraces designed and very nice with bar. The food was versatile and offered something for every taste. However was the ride with the hotel's own bus ( for our coach were the streets too narrow) the narrow streets to the hotel up and down quite adventurous, and if you don't from the weather sweating; then the style of driving of ... the drivers. As a roundtrip very good recommendable! read more
