In advance: we were 7 time in Mexico and already some hotels try, but the sandos was the worst so far. We had select club booked, a bit quiet, which also as good decision turned out to be. Overall the hotel totally overbooked, you had-except in select areas-almost always somebody 'on the lap sit'. The pool at the beach is much too small for so lots of people and also the loungers at the beach were closely on closely. Overall the hotel never 5 stars worth. It is a joke, that this hotel with holiday check so favorably. read more

    Our select room was very big and also very nice. There was almost no complaints, the bar was regularly filled.

    The food was overall good. Very nice we found, that it every day mexican food gave, even if somewhat monotonous. The variety of dishes was large and it was for certain something for everyone. The food was mostly very fresh and we had no complaints regarding hygiene. The boys and girls at the bar there were either evening overwhelmed or had during the day no desire. Wine one got in sektglas, sparkling wine in the glass, Tequila in all possible...

    The service was almost not available. We were constantly on the look, around to get something to drink or glasses, cutlery etc. There was often nobody who, you were simply ignored. We have in Mexico yet did not experience. In the previous hotels one was always very polite and courteously, often with a smile and a nice bewerkung. In this hotel none. Of course, there are some exceptions, but the in the mass unfortunately under. German nobody understood, english was quite good. The cleaning of the rooms was sometimes good, sometimes bad, depending on, who the room cleaned. No flowers, no towel animals-nothing. A shame.

    As already mentioned, is at the beach closely on closely. The select area you could by the pool always got a beach chair and these were very far apart. The was very pleasant. Until about 2:00 p. m. is one nearly alone by the pool, then come to the american and canadian guests and it was noisy and uncomfortable. The loungers on select beach as tight, as all other, this one needs no select book. We didn't take advantage of the entertainment on offer, but it was through the volume heard everywhere. The most we were disappointed by the evening entertainment. There was a musty smell, sticky theatro, in the from 8:30 p. m. for 1 hour a show to see, the more for children is. Subsequently, the seats will be charged are lifted up and you can only on a larger platz, the live music from 9:30 p. m. offers. Every week, the same program and all the guests congregate here. You hardly a capacity, drinks after eternal wait and if it rains-unlucky.

    We were with a group of 18 people on site. In 5 the room there was reason for complaint. Water leaked from the deckenlappe, dirty sheets, water from the shower into the room, rooms were not cleaned. And so on, The rooms were quite livable, and if you don't so closely, it is also really nice. However therefor, the sandos chain with their select areas boast and the hotel over 4.5 stars, it is extremely annoying but so much money.

    The service was depending on the area very good or very bad. In the beach restaurant, the gourmet restaurant and the italian the staff is very hard. For breakfast in selectbereich we however our dishes even together and also after coffee you had to questions. Also the ladies and gentlemen in the lobby bar of the selectbereiches were more than ungewillt. Cup of coffee was still there and the ashes of the cigarettes flew on the table rum. We had actively ask, that the table is cleaned, when we our drinks directly at the bar ordered. (service at the table was apparently not possible)

We, with 2 other friends, decided for this hotel, since we a quiet and relaxing vacation wanted to do. Therefore 'select club' booked. This is not nearly worth the money in comparison to the 'normalen' areas. The only thing which respected in the select club was, that really no children in the area were. General is the hotel complex and the beach very nice. Extensive with different animal species. Now the negative about this hotel, i am short: - very bad service (no matter wether in the normal or in the select club), only the waiters by the pool (select ... club) fluent english) - the hotel is to 95% of trainees managed (one has immediately on service noticed, tables were not set and not cleaned, and so on.) - quality a drink poor (cups are dirty) - quality service at the pool bar was insufficient (an example: i have a water with carbonic acid ordered, another guest a Sprite, i got the Sprite and this immediately complained and then gave me the pool waitress my water, the Sprite landed again on a tray and the guest the Sprite ordered, that happened on the 2. day. Then i found my drinks yourself!. - you can also have lunch by the select club area not, since no restaurant offers this, so we always had to in the normal area walk to eat. The a la carte restaurants you can only for a stay of 14 days = 7 time. Recommendable is only the brazilian, mexican and french. - all rooms on the ground floor and 1st floor (really) are moldy! Only on the 2. floor the rooms are ok. We were at the check-in directly the ground floor allocated. The door was not open and you had the musty smell in the nose had. Have immediately complained, but we had to 1 day in the rooms sleep. Sanitary harmful. - cats in the hallway shit and the staff has it 7 days lan left. I have never experienced anything like that. - and so on. - and so on. I could you still much more negatives. But then the text here too long.     Very nice, large, clean & well-equipped rooms. There was a coffee maker, a mini bar with beer, soda & water (the filled up every day was), a hot tub. The bed was comfortable (no back pain).

    In addition to the two buffet-style restaurant (festival & italian) there is 6 à la carte restaurant, in which the food very good is. In the buffet restaurant there was a wide selection. Point of criticism: the dishes were not always very clean.

    Despite ' reservers' you had no problems (both at the pools, as well as at the beach) free chairs to find. The hotel should the reserve of the chairs but still prohibit (as already in other hotels usual). Sometimes were the loungers the whole day reserved, the reservers came however only in the afternoon. At the beach most of the beach chairs were worn out and not very comfortable. The quality the pool-beach chairs was better.

    Last hotel at the approximately 40 meters wide sandy beach, so that one on the right side after a couple of meters lonely places will take place. Road from the room (select club ) to the beach a bit far, but there are shuttle buses or you get a bit of exercise. Playa del Carmen is on foot (at the beach along ) about minutes away. Otherwise with the taxi (circa 8 Euro) about minutes.

We have our silver anniversary in Mexico and we liked it very much. Disappointed we were from the breakfast room in the selectclub, the waiters were unfriendly and unattentive. The best get the coffee itself or is every day a tip to (otherwise you will unfortunately ignored) The food, the rooms, the many restaurants were unique. Everywhere there was very clean and the staff were friendly. The first days was a beach bar in selectbereich is being built and when the was ready. It was with the quiet over. The music was very annoying and too loud. Disturbing were the ... many weddings at the beach, as normal tourist you had to beautifully lying on the couch and not in the picture mosquitoos are every where. But otherwise everything was great, delicious food great beach and beautiful excursions. Unfortunately, the time no whales more to watch was, well maybe we'll be once again. read more

    The service at the beach makes your work really top! Fast, nice and reliable you always get a drink delivered. It has free, higgledypiggledy! There are fruit baskets and premium alcohol promised. Only after 4 days and 4 inquiries and complaints these things were delivered! Always other ausreden. Minibar disaster which has already been mentioned, i must confirm - every day you had to even call around something to drink get in the room. Fruit baskets were not replaced after they were empty or fruit there was moldy. Select club is unnecessary and not recommendable! You will as a guest disadvantaged at the beach for example Construction i can also in the trip in mid october confirm, but could now at the end be the toilettenwagen is at the end our vacation removed.

    Loud loud sandos... Horrible noise the whole day and in the evening. For fourteen days the same cd at the beach... Shouting entertainers...     When you a room in the old section has great... From the Riviera wing every day walk or on the annoying shuttle bus to wait and propose to no thank you. Unfortunately one must the select club area in which you once (came are 2006 every year!) Really and your peace now with the wedding guests parts. Each 2 day is a wedding and the place for the select club members (the anyway pay more) just halved and the loungers(see pictures) each other or almost in and pushed together. Here is clearly 2 bin abkasiert! 1. select club surcharge 2. wedding guests It makes for me personally not good impression if due to a wedding the other guests under space to suffer must. I voted for more comfort and get less space than the normal guests... Who here more importance is obvious. For a wedding the in the evening took place and the construction at 18/19 hours begins, section the whole day cleared and all the guests cramped! No condition! Outrageous!

Very big was the excitement, still greater the disappointment! In the middle of in the hotel complex there is a 200 meters long and very wide building site not only optically, but also gets extremely annoying. Even worse is the construction site right next to beach where straight new sanitary installations be established for its need one must with a toilettenwagen exp! We had extra the select area for a bit of comfort and peace to be able to enjoy. Unfortunately it was often very loud since in the and at the pool animation and bawling tourist for a high ... noise level made. Our room was not what one for 5 star expected. Everywhere there was mold at the deckenkanten, on a washbasin was a about 5 centimeter large piece broken off so that you had to watch out not to get hurt, in the bathroom on the ceiling was a big pasted over stain ( no idea as with whiteout was looked but not good!) to only a couple problems to name but a few. The mini bar was only after we at 3 consecutive days therefore asked on the 4 day refilled and snacks in the minibar were not at all to find (loud Jahn Reisen in internetkatalog but if this be the case ) the staff were too many very friendly and attentive. Only exception is paradoxser way the breakfast restaurant the select area there was service directly nothing so that the guests partially its coffee even to as the staff the like not act. The specialty restaurants are very recommendable especially the brazilian (one must have experienced it once-) ) we didn't enjoy the castles. The beach was great if not as clean as one would imagine it to be the sea is crystal clear. Recommendation: definitely right along the beach runs to it no longer continues to go around as it is unimaginable nice and you can snorkel as if you're in an aquarium would be. To this hotel we would from said reasons not go back but the area is already great! In the remaining should the neighboring hotel Iberostar much better be-) Very disappointing was the check out there were we only once about 20 minutes around without consideration and were then without a friendly goodbye or thanks the our guests were cleared away. We were previous year 2 where on koh samui in Thailand and 4 days in Bangkok the difference is really big which service and concerns. Absolutely we would like to highlight the excursions with Alex. He is super nice German very well and know a lot about the country and people, as well as the mexican story to say the best in the local travel guide directly after trips with Alex than tour operator questions! It is worthwhile! ( with us it was the daytrip after contoy )- thank you Alex! On own fist are we with the ferry to cozumel ferried and then to the U-boat station Atlantis driven where we unforgettable U-boat ride with German speaking companion had. Reasonably priced it makes no big difference, whether on own fist or travel guide but it is simply exciting also times which itself to explore. More detailed information or material can we be requested. In short: uS it is really incomprehensible as this hotel to such a good review comes. For peace and comfortsuchende is this hotel absolutely not recommendable! ( even if the construction is completed) Have fun in Mexico Heike & Holger read more

An excellent hotel in spite of the age it is again and again here and there, but nothing disturbing. The dream beach was always well-kept and the staff are always nice and efficient. The staff at reception is always accommodating and decent. To the beach from the select areas 10 minutes on foot but very pleasant because many coatis Coati 's looks very sweet trusting animals-) apart from that there is always a shuttle bus the meeting point. You can almost everywhere eating and drinking at almost every time we always in the festival buffet fed since you are ... not reserve should. Around a nice hotel with dream beach we would visit again. PS: definitely as tour Isla contoy book most beautiful island which one must have seen! read more

We were middle August for 10 days in Mexico. Since we before 2 years already once at the Riviera Maya were, we wanted to this year specifically in the vicinity of Pizzeria L'altra, since we the beach very pleased. And we weren't disappointed. The beach was know and the sea was turquoise blue. This is how you want a vacation to be. The room was quite large with a jacuzzi and flat screen. Enough so perfectly, as one spent most of the time outside spends. The food was really delicious and the diversity was because of different restaurants also given. ... We were 2 times in the steakhouse. The portions there were not huge, but the quality from the meat was very good. And care. Seconds you can still get. We come unfortunately the negative: We had the bad luck, after 7 of 10 days the hotel a construction site was. A majority of the hotel with boards as blinds built up. Behind this blinds the individual houses renovated. But it was not step for step. CIRCA 2/3 the hotel was at one time built up. - Behind the blinds was accordingly noisy work. Whether we the hotel again book, we don't know. I would today book, I would not select it. A recommendation I can therefore at present do not deliver. read more

It was a wonderful vacation! The people are super nice and set up. There is very lots of possibilities for exercising and there is a lot of Latin dancing, if you like! The animation is super nice... To the second time after 2011, to the second time satisfied. It, I believe that even slightly improved. The improvements in detail well to recognize, a little better decoration, better loungers by the pool in the select club area. The service area was also improved. The front desk was already class, but also the service has gained, all drinks arrived quite quickly, we had last year still different experience. It was a small buffet bar in the sports bar the EM-play set up. Recommended dishes restaurants on the complex: Mexican ( Riviera Maya), mediterranean and El gaucho (steakhouse ). Excursions ... in p-balam and whale-shark swim very nice but expensive(129 Dollar and 199 Dollar per person at travel guide). Cheaper it in Playa del Carmen the local providers. Everything other in the last year review. In any case is this hotel worth a trip. We recovered very well. read more

We spent our honeymoon spent in the hotel and I can say, that we absolutely happy with this election were. Everybody was always very friendly and ready to help. There are plenty of activities ( for example beach-volleyball, Bingo, Aerobics, Zumba, water polo. ) offered, to which one however never was urged. You could also for a maximum of 3 hours bicycles free of charge, what a small trip to Playa del Carmen absolutely sufficient was. Especially great we found the food in the hotel. Next to the already very good buffet restaurant there are more specialties restaurants, where we ... especially the French were thrilled. We can thus the very good impression the other Travelers absolutely confirm. Which we before our trip especially interested were Info possible excursions, we want to brief our experiences to our 4 tours (mini- Yukatan, jungle -Maya, Whale-shark and Xel-Ha) deploy Absolute highlight was the whale-shark tour, because the snorkeling with the impressive animals was an unforgettable experience (especially if you directly in front of the mouth the luckily dangerous animals into the water is sent) and the then akumal small reef was very impressive. Hint-the offered blue pill against seasickness was certainly worth a mint. The mini- Yukatan tour by the visit of Uxmal and Chitchen Itza a little insight in Maya-culture and a bit of the region whose people witnessed-so also recommendable nonetheless. And jungle -Maya-tour has have fun made. Whether abseiling into the water, via zip lines on the jungle nozzles or by the great Höhlenwelt (cenote ) snorkeling - the day has exactly the action required, which we had expected. Merely the Xel-Ha-visit our expectations not met. Especially the underwater world after the visit of the reefs in akumal very disappointing and the small reef at the hotel's beach ( a few meters to the right) there was much more fish to marvel-although not in the biodiversity such as in Xel-Ha. In short: wonderful vacation with successful mix of relaxation in the great hotel, action and culture. read more

We had great 13 nights in the select Club. The hotel has really a lot to offer. Only deficit in the hotel were with us in the room slightly broken curtains and the beverages the mini bar was from time to time only on request (then however immediately) refilled. Some reviews we can't understand and I have not seen. Drinks there are in the lobby bar also, of course, from a glass, if you on-site drink. We were always asked, whether we in the bar stay or not. And the internet throughout the lobby without code fully free. On the ... Plaza (in the main restaurant) there is the often mentioned internet only for one hour a day. At the front desk also works German speaking staff - Anna for example. It is worthwhile, something with the hotel and all the possibilities at the start in depth. We have a lot unfortunately only on the last days discovered. Recommendable it is also, the free à la carte restaurant ( our favorite: El gaucho) to reserve. Excursions we have to Chichen Itza, EK-balam, Tulum and xcaret with dolphin-swim made. Quite expensive, but it was worth it. Tulum was strong tourist crowded and US altogether not satisfied-Chichen Itza and EK-balam for us were appealing-EK-balam is just for a year all offered. Swim with dolphins was the highlight of the vacation. Xcaret was a great day - evenings with a great show, where the history of Mexique in about 2 hours tell. read more

Overall nice holiday; however it's much better! Partly musty-moldy smell in the rooms-move only after days (waiting list with guests, a similar fate with their rooms shared) Horrorerlebnis : jacuzzi in the room radiated after the brown (!) Water; maintenance not adhered to?! Otherwise rather poor are the beverages from plastic cups, as well as (in march 2012) afterall spring break-teens, the only after long discuss the 'adults only' area were referred. Food not really our case; reminded of mass processing and not outstanding tasty! read more

These areas are as follows: - 'normal' hotel (double room) - hacienda (older junior suites) - Riviera (new junior suites for families) - Riviera (new junior suites from 21 years) (was booked by us) The areas are in this order from the beach upwards in the direction front desk (in other words 'normal' hotel by the beach). Between the 'normal' hotel and the hacienda is a meetingpoint /information (probably the original front desk) and between Riviera-areas is the front desk with lobby. During the complete ... facilities it concerns all inclusive. There are 3 types of 'small band' where you (almost ) in the whole complex a drink or snacks can get. Blue bracelet, normal all inclusive Golden bracelet, premium all inclusive Black bracelet, timeshare We had our room in the rear (+21) area. Here there are only the golden bracelets. This premium all inclusive counts in the adjoining lobby a separate bar, in the better drinks gets. The cocktails were only with branded spirits prepared. There is furthermore a separate breakfast area, in the golden and black bracelets are welcome. The complete Riviera-(+21)-area is only for golden bracelets allowed. Here you will find no children and young people. The hotel is in very good condition. Was cleaned constantly. Really amazing. read more

It is located next to kingsize bed, mini bar, coffee machine, safe, telephone, sofa, hair dryer, shampoo and shower gel (sufficiently available and was also refilled), iron and ironing board, air conditioning, lcd tv (dw -tv), a large wardrobe, a jacuzzi in the bathroom. The rooms are the newest of the hotel and in great condition. All rooms are equipped with a terrace and a balcony. A 24 hours-service is this area also available (was not used).

Front desk: There are the lobby bar and a crepe stall (from 14 o'clock) open. There is the premium-bar, which as already described above, branded spirits are. Furthermore here are various snacks available. In the premiumbar are also 2 computers, whose use is free. Riviera family area: In this area there is also a bar and a snack corner. This field but was not used by us. Meeting point: Here there are similar snacks as in the premiumbar, as well as coffee and tea. Pool: By the pool between the two buildings of the 'normal' hotels there is a bar and a massive snack bar. Here, hot items also for the beach in/out privileges.     The complete staff is friendly. The staff walk always with a smile by the complex. This friendliness is totally authentic, one notices directly, that this friendliness not aufgestzt is. Especially we were about the friendliness Valentina (service in the festival buffet-restaurant) and chimal (waiter and 21 - beach) pleased. These were also in these areas to our favorite. On a tip is always looking forward to it, it is however not a must. The cleaning of the rooms was also very good. If you tip instrument, there were figures from towels. On days without tip unfortunately not, but one does not drive for towel animals on vacation. With english one comes in the whole complex navigate, they also speak german at the reception.

    Beach The beach is very well maintained. And also in 3 divided into areas. On the left hand side (to the neighboring hotel back) is the and 21 area. Here are plentiful loungers and hammocks available (a reserve is not necessary). There is a butler service. Many thanks again to chimal and his colleague. The middle section is for the timesharer reserved and also features a small pool. The right side of the beach is for all thought. As it is on this side hotels more is, is also here more than capacity available. Umbrella are also sufficiently available, that you in the shade beach chairs. Showers are also close to the beach. Change of towels are at the beach or pools made. Unfortunately we had the 2 weeks restless sea. Therefore many seaweeds washed ashore. But otherwise everything nice and very clean. It was cleaned every evening and the loungers again accurate aligned. Pools + 21-area: Big pool with plenty of loungers (a reserve this is not necessary). Riviera-family area: Big pool and also varied loungers. Hacienda area: Before each building a small pool and jacuzzi. Normal-area: Relatively small pool with not so many loungers. You have per day one hour free wi-fi-access. There is entertainment around the hour. There is a beautiful fitness studion, a spa area, two tennis courts and a bike rental. This was however not used by us. In a extra section are kinderpiele and similar to free use available (table tennis, air hockey, Kicker, basketball, chess, wii and Playstation). A theatre for evening performances is (with a bar) near the meetingpoints.

    The sandos playacar lies south of the city Playa del Carmen. It is approximately 40 minutes out from Cancun airport. To Playa del Carmen one drives either with a taxi (70 Peso or 7 dollars), or one runs about 45 minutes. From the hotel 10-15 minutes on foot is a small shopping center, but is more expensive than the shops in Playa del Carmen. It is as described above on room/ area, how far the beach away. Since we in the rear areas were, had we with about 10 minutes the longest way. It drives but also all couple minutes shuttle bus from the reception for meetingpoint, if you don't want to walk.
