Installation-mix of nostalgic elegance with lewd, parquet flooring and rosenschmuck in the dining room and farmers-romantic the room we enjoyed very good; the idea of belle epoque week (only the hotel -sunday experienced) very attractive, a kind of nostalgic Carneval. The food super, varied and always very attractive and well-arranged. The staff was very friendly and measurable personal and attentive care of the guests hard, felt very comfortable. Good excursions in nearby environment, easy to get to. Are like to come again! read more

Our family of five had a wonderful stay at the Victoria Ritter over the 2012 Christmas Holiday. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were large, clean and comfortable and the food/service was outstanding. read more

I would recommend the hotel Victoria Ritter to anyone wanting a comfortable and Relaxing winter break. The food was exceptionally good. Our rooms were Very clean spacious and comfortable. The service was excellent nothing was too Much trouble for the staff. We were collected on arrival and were dropped Off every day at the ski lift. There is so much to do in kandersteg that we have Decided to return. Fabulous Christmas. Thank you hotel Victoria Ritter. read more

The hotel we have as a part of the belle-epoque weeks met. We are now over the festive season returned. It is perfect suitable as a family hotel. A competent and friendly childcare offers, we appreciated very. The supervisors the small trips and organise kid. The friendliness and willingness to help falls from the check-in to check-out. It seems to the principle of the hotel to include. The german skills of the foreign staff members of the hotel leave much to be desired. This flaw, but by friendliness made up for it. The room was excellent for our needs and ... the free upgrade due to non-availability of the booked room type was a pleasant festtagsüberraschung. Conclusion gladly anytime again! read more

Old world charm, spotlessly clean, huge bathroom, spacious bedroom with flat screen TV, friendly and helpful staff. Very elegant dining room, attentive waiting staff, wonderful food. A spacious lounge, with bar service. Toboggans to borrow, ski school if needed. We did not use the pool and only discovered the table football as we were checking out. All ages at the hotel, not to many small children, thankfully. There was a spa available which I planned to use but did not get around to. Absolutly perfect Hotel, no complaints whatsoever and I am picky! read more

    Spacious room, huge bathroom, both toasty warm. Flat screen TV. Lots of wardrobe and drawer space. The kids (young adults!) had their own room with a balcony. Shower over bath, lots of hot water. Shower worked well. I have never sat on the loo with a mountain view before!!

    Delicious, 4 courses every night and 5 courses on Christmas Day! Modern style, portions on the small side but you could ask for more. Beautifully presented. Breakfast was a plentiful buffet, help yourslf to as much as you like - no rush, lovely.

    We are not a very sporty family but we enjoyed the toboggoning, curling, torchlit stroll and watching the skiing. The teenagers skated as well. We forgot our swimming kit so did not use the pool, but it looked lovely. Cheapest swimming cossie to buy in the village nearly £80 - be warned! We loved the horse drawn sleigh ride. No free Wi-Fi don't think there is much of that in Switzerland, we did find it sometimes. Simple to buy however and relativley cheap £3ish a day. Father Christmas visited and did the Pelzmartiga - brilliant.

    Surrounded by snow covered mountains. Lovely village, close to the station. Free village busses during our stay. Lots of shops for mooching in, and bars for lounging in. 3 Choices of cable cars to get higher up the mountain. We did not ski but lots of cross country and downhill available. Acres of tabogganning tracks.

    We had 4 rooms for all of the family. Each one had an ensuite bathroom and were well equipped. The sizes were perfectly adequate and one was a larger suite where the family could gather. TV very good with plenty programmes in various languages. Rooms always spotlessly clean.

    The staff make your holiday so enjoyable and respond to every request,however small, with a smile and helpful advice.Most speak good English and cater for French and German also and clearly have had good training in dealing with guests.Cope admirably with families including our 14mth old grandson who was provided with a high chair and his own supply of milk as requested. Childrens' meals are also available.

    Efficient rail service from Geneva Airport just over 3hrs . Excursions by train to nearby lakeside towns like Thun and Spiez are worthwhile and can offer lake boat trips.Kandesteg itself offers skiing facilities but numerous sites can be reached easily by bus ,train or a combination of both.Good walking in the summer as well as winter linking rail and bus services.

Our hotel was very smart and elegant, and nicely decorated for Christmas, in an attractive Swiss village. The staff were very efficient and friendly and did their best to make it a memorable Christmas for all their guests. The food was excellent, efficiently served, and attractively presented. We took advantage of the many opportunities for winter walking in the area. The unseasonably mild weather meant that there were no new snow falls during our stay, but the village and surrounding mountains were nevertheless very picturesque in the winter sunshine. We enjoyed the beautiful double rooms with the view of the fresh snow mountains loved it. In the evening we have in the restaurant Knight excellent eaten: alpine tapas. We had nowhere seen. Great idea. Always three appetizers on a plate, beautifully presented and cooked. We are definitely coming again. read more

    I have never experienced anything! of service staff, what a welcome to English, only speak French and no word German. this is still, but we have to consume 6 very good, good wine drunk, if it was served on request. Mine Kevin lax will simply times. and then there is the boss, Mrs p. is on the other side. It is always come, if the service staff 'at the stop' was. So for example, when we politely 21,30 around 5 minutes wait for the food-order (another friend came at 9:35 P. M.) asked. As Mrs p. came and said firmly, the kitchen am definitely in order to 9:30 P. M.. In the end we had around 23 hours our coffee in the bar, because you up and breakfast cover. the finish was the Latvian behind the stuffed bar (with caps-boys from the village). She said to us: 'we can not be the Grappa?'

Hospitality was capitalized here. By hotelier couple the staff, everyone would have that you feel comfortable. The chef and the creative dishes complete the whole. and for anyone who has not yet in the new apartments have faci... absolutely test. read more

It is a very old house. The rooms are huge. The furnishing old but everything okay. The food in the restaurant is excellent. The retiree food was not offered, can therefore not be evaluated. read more

Beside the bad condition of the 200 old hotels fell especially the poor customer service and the unfriendly hosts negatively. The o'clock the management before 100 years to have stood still. When we return to the hotel you have to expect that a hotel manager for no apparent reason entrance to the hotel. read more

The hotel is very rustic and contemporary and stylish built installed. It is very family run and as a family makes you feel very well cared for. Price/performance ratio was outstanding, the food or the choice of menus with own children menus is fantastic. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Rooms are very spacious and functional installed. We, (a family with two children) will go there again. read more

The Hotel Victoria is clean, well equipped, friendly and run efficiently by its owners. The public rooms are both elegant and comfortable with a relaxed feel. The hotel now appears to be no smoking so smelled fresh. There is also a nursery facility for small children. The original Ritter part is over two hundred years old, the Victoria perhaps one hundred. German, French and English are spoken (and several staff are Portuguese). It appears to cater for all ages. read more

    The rooms are large, clean and comfortable with plenty of storage space and furniture and a TV but a full length mirror would have been useful. The beds are comfortable and well maintained with sufficient linen and towel changes. Our bathroom had a bath and over bath shower with lovely shower gel provided along with a hairdryer and bath robes. The room and bathroom were warm enough with an opening window and door to the balcony. The hotel is generally quiet - we were not disturbed by overhead noise, noise in the corridor or outside. There is a restaurant in the hotel but also a separate restaurant and ski- bar, in the Ritter, where it is possible to eat a la carte, if preferred.

    The restaurant staff are friendly and welcoming. They smile and enjoy serving the meals. The service is efficient. Breakfast is served buffet style with a wide choice of cereal, fruit, yoghurt, eggs and cold meat, a range of breads, and cheese and jams. The food in the evening is excellent, mainly Swiss-style, imaginative and presented well, with a choice of starter and main (meat/fish/vegetarian), although a couple of main courses were a little salty for our taste. There is a good reasonably priced wine list and a bar in the comfortable lounge serving beers, spirits and coffee.

    The hotel is spacious and elegant but has a very relaxed feel and no-one seems to mind boots or dogs. The reception staff are extremely polite and friendly. Check in and out was efficient and no mistakes were made with our final bill. The hotel owner welcomed us personally during our evening meal and came around again during the week to ask if all was ok. There is also a weekly reception offering complementary aperitif and a weekly Raclette evening in the Ritter. A snow shoe hike (chargeable) was organised by the hotel owners and even though we were the only ones to book it still went ahead so we weren't disappointed. The hotel runs a mini bus and although we didn't use it personally we were offered it on our departure to the railway station.

    The indoor pool is well maintained, kept at a comfortable temperature, with a lovely view of the mountains. and towels are available. There is a sauna which we didn't use so can't comment . Massage is available but we didn't book a session. Very easy and straight forward to book a ski lesson. Sledges can be hired at reception. There is a small library and a room with electronic games.

    The hotel is centrally situated not far from the railway station (to airports) or bus stop to the cable car with shops and post office nearby. You can ski directly from a field adjacent to the hotel. Ski storage in the hotel basement is easily accessible. There are two or three places hiring skis and snowshoes. The village is at the end of a valley with no direct access beyond, so there is little traffic. There are a number of other hotels and restaurants but Kandersteg is not a lively centre for apres-ski - no clubs or casinos! There is an internationally-famous Scout Centre at the top of the valley.

We wanted to take my mother away for Christmas and having stayed at the Victoria Ritter a few years ago, were confident that it would be ideal and it didn't disappoint. Nothing was too much trouble for Casi, Muriel and the staff. On our last trip we felt the food let the hotel down, pleased to report that it has improved significantly, and generally speaking we were really impressed. My mother absolutely loved it. read more

Whilst only a 3 star hotel the Hotel Ritter is far better than many 5 star hotels I've stayed in. It's the perfect place to spend Christmas. Very warm, friendly and welcoming. All of the staff were very friendly with excellent language skills. Very easy to get a lift to the ski lift. Food was excellent and the staff were proud to serve it. Extra special touches such as the torchlit walk and Father Christmas's visit on Christmas Eve made this holiday very special. read more

The suite would be spacious. The hotel also has a small sauna for 1-3 people/must be reserved in advance but for yourself and then you can take advantage of. The pool is big enough for more than three guests! The staff were all very friendly and outgoing. read more
