    Us was the arrival been told, that the large buffet restaurant currently refurbished. Alternatively stands three à la carte restaurants, and between each for all meals, breakfast, lunch, dinner. We could this service during our stay 5 enjoy. It was scary. The small restaurants were only for about 30 people. So you had to between 9 and 10 and was then a layer half 7, half 8 and half 9 registered; and, of course, also only there, where something was free. The restaurants were for this operation too small, and it had massive be improvised. Result: all meals were from the selection and the quality was just as poor to describe. If a judgement is, this would be not more than 1-2 star standard defendendo.

    Arrival 15:30. room was not ready. From the ' few minutes' was 1 hour of waiting period. Then room-verification and observation: toilet is not, wasserzulauf blocked. Call to the front desk. Plumber comes very fast, take everything possible apart, on the rapid but not the error. We let the craftsmen work and do in the time a walk. After one hour return. The plumber is gone, the bathroom is under water, the conditioner goes still not. Call reception. We should change the room and therefore immediately to reception. We immediately off. When we arrived there, disappears the receptionist in the back rooms. The remaining lady doesn't know, can't decide. We wait. We wait 20 minutes, then the receptionist chewing from the back room. After much bantering back and forth, us, that we 2 blocks away a the same room may. So we prefer to. Now it is 18:30 and dark. In the new room, despite all efforts the light on. Thus again call reception. An electrician is, shall examine, is finally outside in the hauptsicherungskasten the error. Finally everything was good, we think. What we later remember: the blackout was also the fridge defrosted (large mess!) And the hot water is not heated, which cold showers meant. Now 19:30.

    From the airport (Varadero) about 300 kilometer away. The area was located very nicely located directly at the ocean. Except sand and the water was available but as good as nothing.

The all-inclusive hotel Sol Cayo Santa Maria is actually nicely arranged and the plants is also obvious regularly maintained. The rest of the area was in a rather poor condition - well maintained and very in need of renovation. Since the hotel was by far not fully occupied was, spreed the present guests pleasant to the area and there was never a feeling of shortcomings on. Among the guests were many canadians and hardly any german and only a few families with children. read hotel review

    The double room was with three beds and was quite spacious. At least in the spacious bathroom was renovation clear, but it was acceptable clean. Otherwise had towels and bedlinen unpleasant stains. In the room there were two rocking chairs and on the relatively large balcony also chairs and a table. Fridge and tv worked well, the air conditioning system hummed partly very noisy at night and the phone fell after the the hörers apart.

    The buffet restaurant was closed for renovation, the meals you could instead in the speciality restaurants. The selection with the breakfast was pathetic and the, what was offered, was very geschmackfrei. It had the appearance, that nothing replenished, what once was empty. The orange juice was with water angerührtes concentrate - other juice was not. The dinner was quite enjoyable, but also here it happened, that it hires from the menu simply not exist or you were unedible (for example extremely burned flavored watery rice pudding for dessert). Lunch was the pizza is the best choice. Red wine was chilled and ice serves, the Cola it was cooled. Napkins were often missing, spoon always. Very modest quality and selection of the food but extremely dubious hygienic conditions. At the pool bar could i observe, as raw chicken on the same board was cut, on the later the sandwiches were prepared. The breakfast sat a bird on the basket and pecked at a Croissant - the bird was halfheartedly from a waiter chased away, but the angefressene Croissant remained in the basket chairs.

    The staff was friendly and tried hard, but the english language skills of some remarkably worse than in other hotels and in other places in Cuba, in/at which we otherwise with locals had to do. Striking is the poor training of staff. With the meals the plates were taken, while we were still chewing and the problem-solving skills was null. Complaints or complaints with a friendly 'i'm so sorry!' Commented, however, little or nothing has been done, in order to solve the problem. At the room cleaning there was nothing to complain about.

    When we arrived the pool was very dirty and looked very unhygienic - on request we were told, that on a spare maintained. The next afternoon the pool was acceptable clean. However, it is also at the pool the renovierungsbedürftigkeit clear. The bars on the edge are partly broken or missing. There is an accident or injury. Since the hotel wasn't nearly fully occupied was, there was both at the beach and pool are more than enough beach chairs in mostly good condition. The beach was sadly strongly by seaweed (or similar) dirty and was contrary to the statement from the customer service in the 4 days did not cleaned (supposedly daily cleaned). From dream beach could therefore unfortunately also be no question.

    The hotel is right on the beach, otherwise there were in the immediate vicinity except other hotels not much. Excursions were offered, by us were however not used, since our stay only as a seaside holiday was planned. If you really a bit of Cuba want to see, there is (as in most other beach resorts also) the bottles capacity.

The hotel consists of numerous 1-and 2-storey bungalows. A main building does not exist, what we very match. Since 300 rooms only on bungalows divide is inevitably a spacious area. The lobby and most of the bars are open plan and create a pleasant atmosphere. In the somewhat remote areas is the garden opposite the central areas somewhat neglected. Some of the sculptures of gartendekoration you can see, that the ravages of time it was noticeable. A repair is obviously not immediately instead of. The hotel is mainly canadians visited. Whether boon or: smartphones and tablet pcs with wireless (wlan) ... you can only offline use. There is not only in this, but also a any other hotel des landes wi-fi. So that you get the opportunity of the all-time availability (twitter, facebook and co) Chill out. read hotel review

    We stayed in a comfort plus room. The room was located in the middle part of the hotel on the 2. floor a bungalows with a view of the sea. The room had refrigerator, air conditioning, ceiling fan, safe with permutuation lock, hair dryer, tv with german channels, telephone. Every day there was a 1.5 liter bottle of water. Room and bathroom were very spacious and nicely furnished: two rocking chair, rattan furniture on the balcony, wide pleasantly hard beds, wardrobe, various storage space and pictures on the walls. Absolute highlight: the bathroom (as well as the room) was on one side fully glazed with a view of the turkish water. Or you are standing in the tub so you have a wonderful view on the sea. Views from other rooms or no way you had to not fear, there was no. By close proximity to event stage it was in the evening not always quiet, sleep has however not affected.

    The food was varied and well, but repeated for a stay of 2 weeks inevitably the dishes. In the evening there was a fish and a meat grill with several types of fish or meat. Furthermore, there was also every day a special 'motto' -buffet with turkey, pork amongst others the pasta buffet you can dish with many ingredients combine and the chef in a pan process leave. The salad and side dishes buffet was very extensive and something for everyone to find. As a dessert different fruit (unfortunately hardly mangos, since the time for mangoes still is), ice cream and cakes/tarts offered. From the pineapple i was however disappointed. In a country in which this fruit grows i would have more aroma expected. The quality was good to very good. On morning buffet is a similar picture, which the diversity and quality. However, we noticed, that white sliced quickly and then not always refilled.

    The staff was always accommodating, friendly and again and again to be had for a joke. And not only after tips received. For lack of own of the spanish language was for us the only possibility us with ration english or by show of hands. However, i had also with english difficulties the cubans to understand. I had but also already on the cuba roundtrip found. Nevertheless we could always in any way our concerns make yourself understood. At the check-in one is using a personal layout plan in all major locations informed, so that one quite fast on the complex found the way. The room was at the check-in at 14 o'clock though not finished yet. However, that was not a problem since we as one hour time had the beach and the hotel already times to get to know. Whilst checking out there were also no special events: both key cards made, beach towel delivered, on taxi waited.

    At the beach you can surf, catamaran, kayaking and beach volleyball play. Although the wind more than enough was (mostly 5-6 beaufort) and with experts for lots of fun concerns should be equal this task rather an experiment: the material is in a bad state. There is a fitness center (with stationary bikes, stair machines, and strength ), Tennis and archery. Although the fitness center was air-conditioned, we have never people exercise seen. Condition and quality of the pool: Contrary to my assumption, that the whole pool pool bar is, there is only a few centimeters deep part of the pool. What purpose it serves is not clear. At least he is hardly used. Beach: The beach is very clean. If all guests their cocktailbecher and straws in the 5-20 meters away standing trash would be the beach spotless.     Shopping possibilities: The hotel is located next to some other hotels on an island, on the tourists and on the island employed cubans can get (passport control on the mainland before the driveway on the dam). This hotel and the neighbouring melia Cayo Santa Maria have a shop, in the postcard, rum, souvenirs, sunscreen (important!) And so on. Can be bought. Between melia Cayo Santa Maria and after the next hotel (Meliá Las Dunas) is additionally a touristenmarkt (the pirate ship) with many stalls with souvenirs. All other hotels we didn't look at. Unfortunately, there was nothing appropriate to buy. Transport links and excursion possibilities: Similar to the shops are the excursion possibilities were rather limited. With our german speaking travel guide we could from 12 offered activities. The offer includes city tours to the mainland (Santa Clara, Trinidad, sancti spiritus and Havanna) partly with night, nature excursions on the island, snorkelling trips, boat drive, trip to a delphinarium, deep-sea fishing. The prices ranging from 27 cuc to 170 cuc (flight to Havanna) per adult. Since we had already had a 8-day trip behind us and all the aforementioned cities already had visited limited our excursions on the island (pure nature, schnellbootfahren and snorkeling). Restaurants and bars in the vicinity: Regarding eating and drinking the hotel offers enough variety. The buffet-restaurant is the central focal point for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This restaurant is very spacious and brightly decorated with pleasant atmosphere creates. Even more beautiful it would have been if the restaurant open plan would, instead there were in all three directions a glass. Besides there is still an italian à la carte restaurant ' la Fontanella'. The however, you can only once per week and it must be reserved. Important: it is only for the evenings from the following day the reservation be reserved, which we did not know and therefore we could on the final day before departure this service not more use. Furthermore, there is a dress code required: long trousers and closed shoes for the men. Bars there were also enough: a lobby bar, directly next to a Piano Bar, in the pool area integrated the pool bar and at the beach next to the snack bar the beach bar. The Piano Bar seemed a bit high and, because they did not open was we never visited. Distance to the beach: The beach you reached over 4 maximum 100 metres long footbridges, by a Areal from mangroves lead. Last aim the annual showy hurrikanes as good as possible willingness to offer. As our bungalow (number 15) in the front row, we were very quickly at the pool as well as at the beach. For the somewhat more remote dwellings may however already times 4-5 minutes to the beach apply.

Simple all inclusive hotel on a beautiful beach. Despite lots of rooms runs everything, since the rooms in a lot of bungalows with 2 or 4 rooms is distributed. The hotel complex itself is clean and tidy, partly but also in need of repair, like for instance the sidewalks to the beach. Mostly are canadians with its merry airpots on the way. To summarize fulfilled the hotel the typical 4 star standard, we before our trip experienced. At our recommendation: actually, we want this hotel yes good, since the beach is wonderful, the hotel complex beautiful and the staff in ... the all in all friendly. The negatives (see below) far outweigh unfortunately. If you a hotel at european level to have would like, must one a 5 star hotel book. read hotel review

    The rooms are big, at the first glance clean. We had a room with a sea view, thus we had only a short way to the beach. On 2. view are unfortunately several lack recognizably. Loose bath armatures, broken tiles everywhere in the bathroom, partly holes, the sliding door to the terrace was only with highest strain on. Much is in need of repair. The toilet is clean.

    There is a main buffet and several restaurants. The buffet is varied and the food tasted good, if you for example the cook at the grill exact instructions (+ tips naturally) there, how you meal to have would like. Unfortunately hung us the food to 3 days already sick. There is everyday the same. Necessarily the restaurants use-there was relief. What not at all is: before the inlet to eat or breakfast serve several birds at the buffet, also during the food in the buffet place to hang out.     The staff we always nice, friendly and obliging. Unfortunately the canadians preferentially and treated, since this for every handle a cuc tips treat. Everywhere english spoken, so we had no communication problems. The cleaning of the rooms was ok on the whole, but the 2. view is visible, that the cleaning staff messy is. From our trip we know, that this in Cuba not so taken serious is what us further not much mind, but if you 1 week in a hotel is, would be more cleanliness have been better.

    The hotel is located on an island, 60 kilometer from the mainland. Transport normal by car a man made dam. The Santa Maria is the extreme left hotel a few hotels together, which is quite an advantage. If you at the beach is, turn left and with a bit of luck deserted beautiful beach with crystal-clear water! To do it on the island not much, one is from the outside world were mostly cut off. The complex is huge and spacious. When we were there, there were hardly any guests and therefore very quiet. Mostly were just a few of the many beach chairs at the pool as well as at the beach taken. The offered food was plentiful, however there are also on Cuba hotels with a better offer, be it taste, as well as diversity. The service however was very good. read hotel review

Medium-sized hotel area, the oldest in Cayo Santa Maria, okupiert of 90% canadians for every handle a Peso give. Quite worn and unmotivated staff(at least without extra Peso) for german holiday-makers and their claims not recommendable. It also differently goes one sees two hotels farther (duna ) everything is good here( a star more four stars) thus rather 300 €more! Oh yeah, one more thing... Definitely take a room in the bungalow ground floor avoid... Smelled extremely like mold/ graberde was probably the hurricane flooded! read hotel review

    The dining room is very large and noisy. The food usually only lukewarm, the taste were okay and the offer. There are pizza live and every day a freshly specially schmankerl like for instance turkey, fish or schweinekeule -not bad. The only à la carte restaurant you can reassure me forget. (holt the dishes from the cafeteria!?) The furniture looks you better not, could the grobmüll-is actually not at all. Without tips is almost every table occupied, bottle mood, jacket, key card and so on we sat there are palawer, you strongly the table suddenly free...

    One speaks here only english, hardly any german. But one always finds a cubans the time in the gdr lived and the contact with german finds. For a few Peso then a lot if a problem emerge, also ohnn are you very helpful! Room service ok with extra Peso even better ☺

We had us because of the good reviews on this last hotel our round trip looking forward to it. But the Kofferferwagen drove twice with us in the ditch and we hurt us. Large was the joy about a room with a view of the sea-really far the rear. When we the dirty our previous tenant in the unpurified bungalow found, we were disgusted. Also the stairs from our terrace to the beach we tried from. They smashed but smooth under me, since I was looking for in the room for the hidden camera.! Three accesses to the beach ... was a jetty almost not accessible, also this is for Cuba not the norm. We could in the dark on foot on the complex only very hard and careful on the way, since the paths very uneven, narrow, holes, badly lit, with steps up and down were. The dinner in the Italian restaurant ran because of the, for our group, much too cold air conditioning in rush and chill. We had the feeling: Feeds and out. beautiful Bungalowressort feast in Canadian and French hand. A dreamlike beach section. It must however to be clear, the nothing with Cuba to do, but everywhere on the world could be. We are a backpacker and after 3 days we were happy only 5 days to have booked. read hotel review

    fitness room and Salsadisco were renovated... The most beautiful bars at 17 o'clock to, remain the unbearable pool bar (with DJ otzi music) and the lobby bar. In the evening is until 23 o'clock substandard Showunterhaltung and afterwards dead. Simply only boring. the pool is Mist... Is to nothing at all. apart from that everything is already there, kickers, Chess, table tennis, pool, but everything in bad condition.

    beautiful Bungalowressort feast in Canadian and French hand. A dreamlike beach section. It must however to be clear, the nothing with Cuba to do, but everywhere on the world could be. We are a backpacker and after 3 days we were happy only 5 days to have booked.

    Beach and airport everything there, but the highlights such as Havana, Vinales and Trinidad require long tours. The island itself is boring, so is the location on the island actually no matter, because one from the resort anyway hardly came out. If 'all inclusive' then I would rather Varadero recommend and from there urgently trips to Havana and Vinales recommend (if you don't see, has nothing of Cuba seen). The 'Loneliness' the island is a March, town center 5 portfolios, all bombenvoll are.

It was our first all inclusive stay in a hotel: I lacked for nothing. The complex is a fantasy rich pondand surrounded by gardens, the constant well maintained. The staff are friendly and how many Cubans-always up for a chat cheerful. After a strenuous tour the pool was found by Cuba ideal place to relax. read hotel review

The hotel has a absolute top location at the beach. The bungalow to the beach it was really only a 3-minute walk. The restaurant is great. Afternoons and evenings in buffet form. Lunch with pasta station and pizza station to reserve. Evening with grill-station and schneidestation. The dessert buffet was great. Huge selection and always different sorts of ice cream and fresh cut fruit. Excursions to nearby shopping, one should definitely take a true. It is worthwhile. All in all a very nice hotel with very friendly staff, every request anticipated. read hotel review

The area is indeed beautiful, also the room are beautiful, but unfortunately it was clearly less offers, than on the website is possible. Three of the people, said the it should be, were not even existent (a bar, gym and a disco), other bars sometimes made without apparent reason simply in former times to. It was evenings, where you can hang out only at the pool and therefore forced to view or listen to the show had wanted to stay, if you not in the room. The animators gave themselves often also no trouble-such a short yoga, I've never seen ... that, also the Spanish courses could be forgotten. The hotel corresponded to the catalog description. The entire staff is attentive, very welcoming and helpful. The extensive plant is and is maintained. The pool area was very beautiful and the beach is clean. The food was felt of us as always sufficient and tasted good. The room are stressed but clean. At the pool bar you could even hear music from Rammstein , the animation team was for the band on fire ☺ We would drive again in this relaxation oasis ☺ read hotel review

It is on the island four hotels, two in the new building. Unfortunately the worst we have caught. Although only eight years old, but rather come down. The furniture is partly damaged, door handles has you in order to use fast in the hand. An acceptable room have we got the third attempt and surcharge on the top floor. Through the dense, sometimes jungle-like vegetation of the area are the rooms on the ground floor wet. It smells like mold and wetness, similar to older waiters. Unfortunately it is also not very clean. The dust on the TV was certainly ... four weeks old. The tiled floors swept is only, never mopped. The pillows were stained suppliers. In the mentality of the Spanish director comes also not over. The food is as everywhere on Cuba: moderate, nothing for gourmets. We knew before the, so one comes not here. Alcohol is served in generous, whether cocktail or brandy, always 3-bin. The beach is beautiful and the crystal-clear water. The garden is well maintained and the staff is predominantly friendly. With tip goes much faster, with no miracle Durchschnittsgehalt a of 20, -a month! Get a doctor 25, -also in the month! The neighbouring Melia hotels are much better. We had a lot of contact to Cubans, as we in front of the beach stay with the car should be confiscated by the western part of the island are risks. With six different hotels on our Cuba-trip this hotel was by far the best with, the we have seen! One thing first: it is now times on Cuba and comes with German requirements not far. I bet, that this hotel only to people is bad, the first a four star hotel on the canary islands and compare a few agencies have second Cuba! So, the times said had to be ☺ For us everything was great: the location (well, it is on a island and the plant leaves it is not much, but we wanted a pure seaside holiday!) is ... beautiful-with the car you drove a 40 kilometer long dam along the right left us the sea. The staff was friendly and helpful (our safe was broken, after complaining immediately repaired!), the animators super nice. The room was spacious and clean (cuban standards, see below!)-behind the bathtub is a glass wall, so you (if you want-otherwise a blind) with a view to the free showers can. Pool in good condition. You could borrow beach towels for free and go if necessary. Everywhere plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas (free), also in the shade! Beautiful beach, very clean, also here there were enough beach chairs! Waiters at the beach bar was super nice and patient! Huge buffet-three times a day is the most before the eyes of the guests fresh cooked. Other hotels we arrived us also due to the eclectic selection in the paradise ☺ Even for european standards the food was in my opinion better average! Also here the staff was always friendly. You could also in two à la carte restaurants-was used by us not. Two minor points: the cocktails (caipirinha and mojito) were not really good. And we have in our room (fortunately dead) three cockroaches discovered. Well, I'm giving it to, as it a bit disgusted, but the is probably not really avoidable. On the evening before our trip we were given a note to hotel reviews, it made the impression as if value is placed on quality! All in all for a beach holiday very to recommend it-I would go again in a heartbeat! read hotel review
