The hotel is enough for a city break. The room was reasonable and adequate. However, our window to the backyard, so we hardly daylight had. The bathroom was very small, for 2 people. Not sufficient and the shower needed 5 minutes to warm.
It is cheaper. The traffic connections there is good, San Francisco is anyway very good connectivity.
Biggest problem was the proximity area, the in the evenings always from homeless populated was.
We were nobody touched and harassed, it was still there in the evening very unpleasant.
Therefore better with the train until shortly before the hotel go. read more

As coach tour were, we stayed for 2 nights in this hotel.
All together the hotel was reasonable. It is centrally located and you can a lot on foot or with the bus reach. The bus station is directly in front of the hotel. From there are many sights, restaurants, shops walking distance. No matter wether bus or on foot.
Directly at the entrance you will find a Starbucks.
Our room was very small and cramped. Also also the bathroom. Totally closely. One had almost for nothing place. The breakfast was also with the selection very limited. You quickly to ... all try.
I can recommend the hotel. Not the best, but adequate. With a city break is one anyway rarely in the room. Unfortunately the room was no bigger and the breakfast better.
Wi-fi was free available.
The people at the reception were as well very friendly. read more

We used the Hotel Whitcomb as a part of a round trip by the United States and had two nights stay. Unfortunately were our rooms already long in advance and paid for, so we checked in - apart from that we have refrained from. The building is located in the district of 'tenderloins', a bad area. Classic social focus in San Francisco. A lot of homeless people, directly in front of the hotel stop. We immediately after leaving of the hotel addressed and for charity asked-although the people nice and not on grip, but because of the large number we ... found it unpleasant. Furthermore, throughout the surrounding hotel area on the street during the day and in the evenings a very public hard drugs. There are crack pipes around and people syringes substances-we were several 'live and in color' for everyone. The Geruck of joint is always present in the air. The police is quite in this area present-is done but nothing. These facts make the Whitcomb for a vacation stay rather unsuitable.
The house itself
A quite impressive building with a large and representative entrance hall. Unfortunately the shine is the good old times and everything seemed old, neglected and run down; both the service during the check in, as well as the cleanliness leaves something to be desired. The rooms are badly soundproofed, there is no safe ( straight in this area a joke!), bed sheets was holey (photo!) and the bathroom a nightmare; rust, dirt and open cable. It could have been a alternative given-I would somewhere else showered. In the drain of the washbasin, the plug was missing, was the cover the toothpaste from the previous guests. This remained during our whole stay there are. Showers only went with cold water. Parking costs 40 $a day in the hotel's own garage and Wi-Fi in the rooms is free.
Tram stop on the doorstep. Center is about 1 kilometer away, but are we recommend in this area not! Too dangerous-at night we even unique shots heard. Just creepy!
Altogether: more than disappointing. We have San Francisco hardly can enjoy read more

The hotel once had very much elegance and charm. The facilities shows it still. The room sizes are apparently quite different. Ours was in the inside-corner but very big. From mitreisenden we heard however complaints on the tiny room. The bathroom/ toilet but was really tiny and it was missing places to put things. Everything was clean and tidy. In the area many gravel and it is not pleasant to the door to go. But tram and buses are only a a few steps away and one is fast Fort. The service the absolutely MIKRIGEM breakfast was extremely unfriendly. With ... harsh words and hand movements were the guests for certain, the staff suitable sections of the ugly breakfast area ( Union Square Room) shooed. Thus better at Starbucks next door.

Very impressive entrance hall, faster check in. Spacious designed course. Restaurant and Starbucks right on the ground floor next to the lobby. Rooms were big enough, bathroom was clean. It is a bit better hotel in a field of market street in the nevertheless quite a lot of junkies and homeless hang out. The hotel was therefore very pleasant. read more

Hotel Whitcomb was formerly Ramada Plaza, and while it is directly at the Market Street convenient, it is however not really central. Nearby there are just some restaurants and shops, but until the Powell Street there are several blocks. The rooms can the impressive lobby not match, but are OK. What I didn't like so much: there are actually always homeless or junkies on the square in front of the hotel around, in particular evenings not really great is. There is a bus station nearby, with the man amongst others very convenient to the somewhat remote airport comes. Please bring ... better no rental car with, the parking rates are over 30$. read more

The location of the hotel is still city center but the neighborhood is not so good. Many homeless and junkies loiter in front of the hotel. The front desk was quite unfriendly, no matter who you mentioned, very unusual for the United States. The rooms were okay. The furniture somewhat older and style as antiquated. The toilet was located on a small loft, very unusual. The hotel is old and therefore the tubes are on the wall. The rooms were clean, there was no coffee machine. The breakfast was sufficient and fresh fruit was offered. The staff was quite unfriendly ..., I would not go back, and the location was not. The hotel is located in the foyer is a walgreens and Starbucks. read more

The hotel is located on the market and blackcomb Whitford road centrally located. Nearby is the metro and bus station, Fare per person two dollars. The Cabel car is about 15 minutes. Also shopping possibilities there were enough. Unfortunately the image a bit, because in front of the hotel and nearby lots of homeless people hang out. The is however in San Francisco Sunday with tram f you can go from the hotel to the station to Fisherman's Wharf. The rooms are small, but clean. Breakfast is toast, eggs and fruit as well as coffee was okay. If there are ... a lot of for breakfast, one must bring along something time. At the stop Union square market pedal boats in the tunnel from 9:00 you can o'clock buy an all day ticket. Cheaper if you with the SF urban public transportation who would like to explore. read more

Great hotel in amazing location! The hotel is in great condition and very good traffic connections. The room was very small, but very clean and modern. The staff and the Rezeptioin was always very attentive and tried to help for problems with the language. In front of the hotel were unfortunately again at any time Homeless, the but not pushy were. You are in 300 meters in the next tram station. All together an amazing hotel which we absolutely recommend can and will visit again. read more

This hotel was our starting point of a tour of the USA. We had a good stay. The hotel was formerly a Rathaus, why the lobby very nice quaint and pompous looks. Exhibits from the time also to visit. read more

We have visited this hotel as part of our round trip USA. The rooms were reasonably clean, the beds were comfortable. The breakfast buffet was very poor, no eggs, potatoes, muffins and toast with jam and melons pieces there was nothing. The quality was not good, at the sliced eggs you could imagine the difference of egg yolks and proteins only. The location is good, can be visited a Starbucks, without having to leave the hotel, food and other shopping possibilities there are only a few steps away from the hotel. If you can tolerate a squeeze at the breakfast ..., we can recommend the hotel for a short stay. read more

The hotel was decent, if you don't want to stay there for a long time. A maximum of three nights I recommend. That, I believe, but 99% of this suspect district of San Francisco. Market street, 9th street level sixth (Whitford blackcomb is eighth, St) is an area with many homeless people. This area of Market street smells of urine and marijuana and the obvious! In the evening you should not let yourself be, no eye contact and directly to the hotel. I thought it was weird. The hotel was okay, but for a second booking too musty! read more

Built in 1926. When you enter you think Wow. You can see the rooms and the decor of the rooms is one disappointed. This is the age of the hotels apparent. The cost of parking our car on usury. 35 $per day and vehicle plus tax. The best part of the hotel we found the Starbucks in the lobby. The rooms are relatively small. The bathroom could have been larger and the bed here as the leisure activity offering is not justified. Much too small for two adults. In general: everything but dated. Price-performance not appropriate. read more

This was our last stop on a car trip and are based on the reviews we arrived with very mixed feelings. The first impression is great, but you could think, that everything else as well as 'historic '. Our room was very small and dark quiet therefor, as at the back. The bathroom was really old and a bit shabby, there were already cleaning staff failed generations. Breakfast we got down to Starbucks, coffee maker not in the room. Guest parking is expensive, 28 $and tax per day. The environment is not so great, but the tram goes back almost ... to the front door.
Conclusion: you'll survive, but there are certainly better. read more

Except it and the lobby for the hotel made a good impression. But is the area despite its proximity to the shopping center and the city hall rather bad. However the room were badly ventilated, it smelled not good, the furniture is old and the breakfast was very well arranged and also not very tasty. read more
