Small and quiet cozy hotel with beautiful garden area and a small private beach with rocks and sand. The entrance into the sea is at high tide not always easy. We really enjoyed it. To change recommend excursions (organised) and walks to las galeras and after playito. After a week half board you want a bit more variety, particularly for breakfast. However the service is very pleasant and everything is very relaxed and friendly. read more

Very nice located, quiet hotel (no tv, no telephone, no music, no animation ),spacious rooms with lovely decor in caribbean style, already a bit worn, the bathroom was likewise very roomy, technical a bit dated, and therefore vulnerable to disruption (but schnedll be repaired ), beautiful garden with enough chairs, small pool with a view of the sea, rocky coast with sand entrance to the sea, wonderful for swimming, swim and snorkel, very friendly, mostly helpful staff, communication worked with hands, feet, as well as spanish and englischbrocken, restaurant in a beautiful, airy Pavillon, breakfast is in the long ... run somewhat monotonous, dinner easy, and diverse (for fourteen days), for excursions is a car advisable, if you do not have group tours may the hotel is located a little at the end of the world; we had a wonderful vacation read more

A hotel secluded from beaten track. Small (21 rooms) in a lovely, well-kept garden area. Absolutely peacefully located. Atmosphere of a Florida-key villa (reminiscent of hemingway house in Key West). Large balconies. Beautiful rooms, older furniture, but always freshly painted. No tv, no telephone (we didn't bother us). Hotel has charm. Staff friendly, particularly mr Fernando from the reception, the good spirit of the hotel. Manager mrs gillardi open and geprächsbereit with criticism. Restaurant staff willing but hardly fremdsprachenkenntnisse. Very good the service staff Lydia, Carmen, Anna and Esther. Menu was adequate. Breakfast poor but sufficient. Town las galeras could ... 10-minute walk from the hotel, with good shopping possibilities for food. Several good restaurants in the place. Samana original and actually the best address in the cathedral. Republic the place is relatively safe, the population friendly and accommodating. Just a nice place to stay a while. You can get the long transfer time of almost 4 hours (Puerto Plata) gladly in purchase (of santo domingo only 2.5 hour). We felt very much at ease and will be back. read more

Very nice hotel in the colonial style with a magnificent garden. The view from the rooms, from the restaurant, or garden is beautiful! If only take a break from everyday life would like, is here in the right place. Only negative points: the air conditioning is dated and accordingly noisy (really cool they do but), the bath, hand and pool towels ' were in despicable condition and should be urgently renovated, the front desk is the half time not occupy and if, then usually only Spanish speaking staff. read more

Beware! The arrival from the airport in Puerto Plata, about 4 hours!
the hotel is however a relaxing Island in the third world! Instead of fighting on massive buffet a small menu in the restaurant. We were in 3 weeks 5 times in the restaurant. Nearby there are 4 other restaurants, which you can visit!
from here you can enjoy some excursions undertake! read more

The 'villa serena' is a small (21 room), quiet (no animation, no tv, no telephone in the room) and very nicely located hotel, the directly at a very small, but fine sandy beach is (only a few rock at the entrance). The building (main building, neighbouring house and restaurant) remember an old english stately homes-with the difference, that hardly spoke english or german. At least a spanischlexikon everyone should bring your own, otherwise take the improvised 'conversation' already for a very long time (but they are all very friendly and put in the effort). Is' time really beautiful, if you ... don't understand and only with the other guests (many germans, swiss, but also canadians, americans, french, spanish guests etc.) Can speak. The rooms are individually furnished, but are hardly upscale european standards. Skylight there is in the main building (we had room 6) not. The two small lamps are for a big room simply too little. The beds consist of three primitive single parts, with the unsteady kopfkissenseite took some getting used to, but for sleeping is adequate. The bathroom is except for the toilet flushing ok. Our was the whole two weeks only limited, that means as soon as you a paper with reinwarf, you had to having flush, until it drained off was. To two-time repair it was exactly like at the start. As you can tell, that you are in a developing country vacation makes. But the great view of the very well-kept garden and the beautiful sea makes it easily makes up for it. The balcony with the two very elderly rocking chairs has a brighter light and the room! The air conditioning worked reasonably-with us a power outage badly after. Luckily it was at the end of february/beginning march but not so hot.
We booked half board. The breakfast is simply, but good. Buffet does not exist, the girls bring the ordered directly at the table. For dinner there are the possibility from four different menus to choose, with it usually beef, fish, pork and a bit vegetarian there. Repeated itself fast and is not very varied, but it tasted and is lovingly prepared. And it isn't so bad, on vacation 'times not outrageous. read more

the hotel lies about 300 meters away the town of LAS galeras, and that is a good thing, as the place often a hell of many boxes and the blasts with your Mopets back and forth. After a annoying and strenuous Island round trip (which we cannot recommend, because of the blatant streets and many military checkpoints) this was beautiful hotel salve to our soul: wonderful large and clean rooms. Very nice and helpful staff. The embedded restaurant is a bit unimaginative the variations for example in the breakfast regards, but this is not so bad, since it is in ... the nearby some nice small restaurants is. The pool is excellent, very clean and with great view on the sea! It is luckily no choice music played there. A quiet, very beautiful hotel!
in case we were to go back to the Dominican Republic-which we did not go-we would gladly again anytime to this hotel go. A relaxing Oasis of the silence. Here one can recover! ☺ read more

We (2 friends) stayed for 12 days at the villa Serana, and it us very well pleased, the view from the balcony is well worth a visit. Although the arrival strenuous -3.5 hours by bus from the airport Puerto Plata, it is the trip in any case value. Secluded from Stream. read more

So we recommend this hotel... Beautiful rooms, great garden, nice people. The only negative was the breakfast. Lot too few selection! A buffet very nice! The infrastructure in Las galeras is not designed for mass tourism but perfectly adequate. Some beautiful bars and restaurants are on foot within easy reach. In my opinion a beautiful Mixture of local culture touristic influences.

super good food, daily other map with a good choice, daily fresh seafood, service, no buffet. Mineral water free of charge in the room. Wi-Fi free of charge. Bicycles and free canoes; very tasteful rather small area in colonial style. Very spacious tastefully equipped rooms, every room different designed. Very friendly and helpful staff, professional in handling. Directly at the sea and unspoilt, no noise from the street. Spacious designed garden area. In short: ideal to the appreciative enjoyment and relaxation! read more

There is not much to say, as the Villa Serena is only recommendable, Pure Caribbean. Great location from the hotel, beautiful gardens, wonderful food by breakfast + dinner ( from Show can be selected), it's personal chef available where very good cooks ( We had three starters three main courses and three desserts to choose from), especially the fish must be tried, a joy. Beach-small beach front, where sufficient for bathing. Many excursions, and beautiful beaches. ( Playa Rincon, Playa Frondon, Playa Madame, Cala Blanca). The front desk is Julia and Verena the a always help and can also speak ... German. ( We greet you T+C). We were there at the beginning of May and it is always rain, but you couldn't ruin the fun and with such a great place. On a rainy day, the bicycles grabbed ( from the hotel itself without cost) and went to the Playa Playita drove through Las Galleras, then follow a little dirt road to the beach -> adventure pure relaxation. The whole area ( Las Galleras / Samana) is just great -> a Palmenmeer. We stayed for a week at the hotel was not one person ( low season), we had the whole place to ourselves, just peace, and enjoy the sea- sound. Everything was fine a great holiday. All the staff were very kind to us and very friendly. The cocktails we tried were a treat, absolutely delicious. The best is every room has a view of the ocean. We stayed in the main house, I think better as in the annex. In general, the Villa Serena a great Caribbean flair, if you're looking for peace and want to get away from it all from the Stressaltag, is in this area. Villa Serena is just to be recommended. read more
