This review is difficult, because it purely objective not much to complain about give, but subjective we were in the sunset Jamaica grande simply not comfortable. The hotel is a large from a 15 and a 12 story concrete block, as well as various additions to existing complex. The 730 rooms are thanks to special offers for american tour operator also in the pre-season well occupied, so that at the 800 guests on the complex were. There were two main groups; even a large number of dark strong overweight americans whose main occupation from food at all 3 buffet ( ... in the morning, at noon, evenings) stock and the on your plates mountains from food wegschleppten and then in hineinstopften. This is not racist, but was simply unaesthetic. The 2. group were young americans which the alcoholic all inclusive drinks plentiful use and from morning until evenings in party there were, the very loud noise from the entertainment- and piped music from early until into the night supported. As recommends definitely a room on the top floors. Europeans were rather an exception and the only language in the hotel spoken was, was English, which but also is ok. The beach of the hotel is the best in ocho rios and clean, however almost completely with chairs cluttered, since the place over 1000 guests naturally quite tight. In spite of the palm trees at the beach the view is rather modest, the exactly opposite is the kreuzfahrtschiffpier at the times the week various cruise ships dock and the former bauxitverladepier, in other words a worn down industrial plant. In this environment we simply no caribbean vacation feeling, but it was noisy mass tourism. That is why we are after a week to Negril the ' sunset at the palms ' a hotel the same chain moved. Against an extra charge and with itself organized transfer there. A couple more details to the hotel: the upper room in the north -, as well as in südtower (15 floors) are renovated, however are the bathrooms quite run-down and not more current reality. There are lcd tv with about 100 channels - also Deutsche Welle. Safe is also in the room, key you got against deposit at the front desk. The rooms are big enough and the cleaning is ok. The quality and the ambience in the 3 à la carte restaurant ( jamaican at the beach, Italian and asian in the building air-conditioned) are much better and definitely the buffet preferable. Reservation one day in advance from 8:30 A. M. At the buffet came due to the quantity of the guests the employees often not with clearing away afterwards, so that tables full of leftovers the atmosphere clearly disturbed. Advantage of the hotel is the location directly in town, so that you in 5 minutes on foot on the main street of ocho rios with shops and restaurants is. Of the other departments must one only with the taxi for circa 15 American Dollar one way move in. At the beach boat trips for snorkeling at the reef respectively to the dunn river in case offered. Both worthwhile and the prices are negotiable. read more

the large hotel in 2 building divided 730 rooms. our room was daily thoroughly cleaned, the room staff was very nice and after a tip was a towel on the bed attractively arranged. the all inclusive offer is very varied, which we German morning missed was a larger selection of breads/rolls. Except the buffet restaurant evenings still 3 more restaurants available, the we however didn't visit, we always found something at the buffet and left the Americans and Canadians the precedence in the Italian, Chinese... read more

our room was renovated and clean, the bathroom with shower is practically equipped, the mattresses are quite hard, the TV had at least the German wave. Safeschloss and key you got for a fee at the front desk, a laptop does not fit in the safe!

  • Gastronomy
    5.0

We always at the buffet eaten, different types of meat and fish there was always to lunch and dinner, always well seasoned, sometimes hit crushed. The salads were very delicious! At noon, you could its hunger to the beach bar (jerk chicken- definitely sample) or with fries and burgers at the pool bar ( Bahnhofcharme) quiet. it is everywhere bit noisy, we saw from the food the outside range direction beach preferred.

  • Service
    5.0

English should definitely control, we have no German speaking employees found. The staff are everywhere very nice, is also quite attentive and talkative-after it got a tip-you have to keep in mind, that the wage levels very low and everything was a bit slower.

the beach is beautiful fine sand, but only in the locked area swim, so my a glass bottom boat or jetski the toes, for correct swimming is the water however to down. at the large pool, the whole day music, animation, we felt at the beach anyway, there will be peace left. The beach in the morning thoroughly cleaned (from seaweed and cigarette butts...), the empty cups (hard plastic) were continually collected. the pool chairs at the two areas were already early in the morning'reserved', who after 9:00 o'clock on the beach, must have luck around a couch to find. Most of the beach chairs are a bit 'worn out', there are always too few-just as shade, we are on the lawn under a palm tree evaded. The beach is so fine sand, that one also on the beach chairs.

the hotel lies direct at the beach, has also 5 beautiful pools, suitable for children, everywhere with lifeguards. Towels for pool/beach there are daily with the large water slide. behind the hotel there is the village ocho Rios, is on foot reachable in a few minutes, it is sufficient options for shopping, bars or restaurants we didn't visit, handed us the offer in the hotel.

The location of the hotel is perfect i travel with a party of eighteen and all the rooms has sea view we watched the cruise ship pass by every morning, i am not sure how many rooms there were but its a very big hotel. I don't have any complain about the cleanliness of my room the house keeper on the floor kept my room clean and change my towels every day the beach is only a few feet from the hotel i enjoy walking on the beach at nights or laying on the beach chair and enjoy the sea ... breeze, there are so many pools surrounded the hotel and different kinds of activities for children and adults, the rooms and furnishings are what you would see in a regular hotel in the United State they have all night entertainment. The food was not what i expected, it was not Jamaican style cooking it was more American. I understand that the Hotel has to accommodate people of many culture so they have to balance the way they prepare the meals. I can say that everyone in my family lost weight and its not because we didn't have any thing to eat, but the food was very healthy and was not short of vegetables. I like the way they serve food by portion and for some people if they are not satisfied they can ask for a second plate. The children in our party wish that they could stay they had so much fun. My father is eighty seven years old, my mother seventy-eight and even though they could not run around like us they enjoy there sea view room and room service. We thank the house keeper who took such good care of our parents and a man who who works in the cafeteria he helped my dad to the bathroom. My mother fell and the Hotel manager was exceptionally great they make sure that my mother was treated by the doctor and sent to the emergency room. Then they had a special formal dinner for our family to say that they are sorry that my mother fell. Of course they are cultural differences the same as other countries, but the staff are well mannered. You can tell the difference as you enter the Air Port i felt a sense of calmness and peace. Even the security guards they don't yell on the top of their voice and push us arround like they do in Philadelphia and Georgia yet they are doing the same work. I experience a few negatives but its normal every day negatives that we experience in our everyday life. It's just a hotel its not Disney World it has many hotel accommodations, for extra activities we have to pay to get in just like every other place. Jamaica is so beautiful we plan to buy a property near the hotel and visit more often. Meanwhile i will always remember my vacation at Jamaica Grand and if i visit anywhere else is because i like to experience other places. read more

I had a master's suite, King size bed ocean view. After being outside for a while its always comforting to walk into a well air conditioned room.

There are quite a few restaurants and bars but i was so busy having fun i wasn't interested in exploring all the restaurants. Some days i only ate breakfast or lunch for the entire day. but my favorite drink is the strawberry slushie.

The staff are friendly, but we travel as a family and we pritty much do things together we didn't get to socialize with too many people but i notice other people that were of smaller group were entertained by the staff. Jamaica is a english speaking country and i speak english so i can't comment on other languags.

The location and surroundings are great the beach is only a few feet from the cafeteria. Ii sat on the balcony and i could see the people leaving the cruise ship, We walked to the market to buy mangoes. We did not rent a car but we were not short of transportation we could get a bus to take us where ever we want to go. We pay $20.00 per person and they took us all over the Island. Shopping and facilities is just outside the Hotel gate.

Also, ich machte alleine vom 05.02.2010 - 12.02.2010 all inklusive Urlaub im Sunset Jamaica Grande.

the hotel itself was amazing. the complex wasnt over big and i felt safe enough to let my 10 and 7yr olds wander around the pools and beach area. the hotel is set on the beach frount and you can step out of the pool areas straight into the carabean sea. the food throughout the day was plentiful and if you couldnt find anything to suit your palate you have a serious problem with food. the resteraunts were, italian, chinese and a grill. two beach grills and 5 shallow pools the depest being 4ft. read more

maid service was daily and linen was changed evey 2 days. the only problem was a damp smell but feel this was due to the constant air con in your hotel rooms. the rooms themselves were the only thing that let the hotel down but as you dont spend much time in them it wasnt a problem. tv and satalite were in every room. balcanies were on every room with either sea or mountain view. there was english plugs in the rooms. the rooms were good sizes with a twin room having 2 double beds in it.

the hotel is located in the area of st annes a 2hr transfer from montego airport. ocho rios has not become commercialised by big ameican companies. as this was an all inclusive resort the entertainment was provided by the hotel and they had several themes from local talent to a staff verses holidayers-a jamaicas got talent!! within the grounds of the complex there were 5pools and a lazy river. 2 jacuzzi's, 3 pool bars 2 with swim up bars. all no motorised water sports were included in the price, tennis courts, beach volley ball. towels were at a price of $10 and could be changed daily. there wre plenty of excursions to do. we as a group did cool runnings catermeran to dunns river falls were tom cruise filmed cocktail which is a 60ft natural fresh waterfall. we visited dolphin cove for a kiss of f a dolphin and we all so did with water river raffting down a natueral fresh eater river situated in the jamaican jungle. these were all at a price but worth it.
