True 5 star hotel but slightly disappointing

I had two recent stays and on both occasions found the hotel quite good but each time found some irritations that should not occur at such an establishment. Both times was in newly renovated rooms which are bright and well appointed. Food in the restaurants is good quality; personally I think the steak in the TexMex is excellent though they need to make more efforts to control mosquitoes in the dining area. Swimming pools and terraces look very inviting for when the weather warms up. Disappointing selection on TV’s in rooms with only the usual free to air channels. As ... to the small problems in the first room the AC was not working properly. This was repaired after two discussions at reception. Tea and coffee is provided in the room but apparently it is not policy to replenish, which I find very strange. After two days at my first stay I asked for more and it was supplied but second stay I didn’t bother asking when replacement failed to appear. Kettle not working in second room, replaced quickly. Door card key failed twice on second stay causing an irritating walk back to reception. Wash room attendant hovering around in lobby toilet clearly hungry for tips. Check out somewhat slow on both occasions. The above are obviously small matters but they should not be occurring in what should be a hotel of the highest grade. Overall a good hotel but needs some work to improve the experience. read more

A well-maintained hotel with beautiful pool and friendly staff. After the beach vacation in Hurghada undertake we have a short trip after Cairo, the pyramids to visit. The loungers ' around the corner', the hotel pool you have a wonderful view. It recommends a driver, the one to all sights brings. Before price negotiate. We are also still after sakkara dangers ( about 30 minutes with the taxi), wonderful. We had breakfast booked, very rich buffet, delicious-service could have been more attentive to. The coffee was usually only briefly before you finished at breakfast. After you the tour marathon in ... the heat Cairo had finished, freshened up a bathroom in the pool. The hotel lies not in the town center, but it's much cheaper than the hotels in the inner city. A few meters away from the hotel is a kind of Arabic snacks, where you for example delicious Schawerma for cheap prices can buy. read more

we had a pleasant big room with balcony and only to the sharpened the pyramids, as it is only a on the second floor was. The beds were wide and comfortable. Minibar, complimentary closet safe, hair dryer, bathrobes, desk, chairs, armchair, coffee table, 2 chairs on the balcony with cushions, telephone and TV were available. The air conditioning was very noisy, the balcony door you should from different (also noise from the street-) reasons at night closed keep. The 'thick' TV surprising in a hotel of this category. As German Channels are only ZDF and RTL II.

  • Gastronomy
    6.0

we had half board booked. The breakfast and the dinner (a excellent buffet) in a large, well air-conditioned and attractive equipped restaurant with massive live cooking-offered. Through a bit transparent metal curtains received no cafeteriafeeling on. The food variety leaves nothing to be desired and is very varied and diverse. There are many oriental dishes, but also in a large number of Western European. The number of the service forces is so high and attentive, that immediately the dirty dishes were cleared away. On a pool island is a pool bar, in the lobby a bar, in the small à la carte meals can be taken. Furthermore it is a quaint Mexican restaurant. The drink prices are quite high. 0.5 liter Egyptian beer cost 4,50 euros, a glass of wine (very poor poured, less than 0.2 liter) almost 10 euros.

  • Service
    6.0

The entire array of services staff is in all areas without exception friendly, and accommodating. With English one comes through well. German speaking employee we have never experienced anything like that. At the cleaning of the rooms there was nothing to complain about. The bed linen is made only for environmental reasons, after being urged to do so. If you want a change, you have to ensure only the corresponding vorgesehe the bed beach chairs.

  • Sport & Entertainment

entertainmentor animation program we have never experienced anything like that. Internet access is only available in the lobby. The spa offer we didn't used. The pool area is very generous laid out and consists of two pools. It is plenty of sunbeds and sun screens surround. Pool towels are provided. The small pool with a pleasant soothing water fall has water. On the water fall regards two of the pyramids.

The pyramids and the Sphinx of Giza are within walking distance. The airport Cairo is about an hour's drive away, as long as the streets normal are busy. This could rush but also completely different his. The city center is with the taxi in the case normal ( chaotic) in a half an hour away. Pyramid of sakkara the steps is also about a half hour away. A few small Stalls or shops and a gas station beach chairs nearby, where you a lot to eat or drink (but no alcohol) can buy.

I chose this hotel, because it is a good review and directly on the pyramids was; it was important to me. My choice was right. The staff are friendly (not pushy) and knowledgeable. I have no other five star hotel in Egypt kennenlelernt, the staff forth comparable was good. The area of this hotel was our criteria a disaster. The complex is well of streets surround; 2, 2 quiet Stassen. In front of the hotel wait taxis. A driver took me a 8 hourly tour of the town offered for 30 euros. We sat 2 hours in the usual traffic. ... Although he was 14 in the business was, he knew the sights not, we wanted to see. But have markets see, where the tourist normally not go anywhere. A hotel, in a very lively area of the Gizehs is located. Before entering the grounds, the vehicle shall be subject to a security check, what the guest security. In the lobby there is a bar, as well as the front desk. The whole area is allowed to smoke, but not at the smell is. Our room was in the newly built part of the hotel and was spacious, tastefully equipped. Although we had the view of a street and were no balcony, but also absolute peace and quiet. The bathroom was tastefully equipped, but had no hair dryer. We ... immediately on request at the front desk on the room brought getting. I think, it is not by default in the rooms. The two pools are very clean and nicely designed. In the middle there is a bar, both directly from the water, as well as over a small bridge can be achieved. The big pool is a pleasant water temperature, the smaller with water fall is very cold. The pool area is open from eight o'clock until sunset. The longest receive the small pool on the left at the corner. The other beach chairs already at 15 o'clock in the shade. In the morning gerollte towels from the staff on the beach chairs, so you don't have to ask. Prices for food and drinks are similar to those in Germany and therefore very expensive for Egyptian standards. It was cheaper, if you walk out of the hotel is ruas, left around the corner is a kiosk. Ideally coincides with a drink there again, as you were immediately and constantly asked to visit some papyrusgeschäfte or perfume. Excursions we booked directly over TUI, which was very expensive, but also rich and worthwhile experience. The excursion to Cairo with a visit of the museum, the grand bazaar and mosques was very good, as well as the trip to Memphis sakkara and the pyramids in. On both days we had a German speaking travel guide and a chauffeur of a Merzedes the hotel has picked up. The Nile-in the evening with dinner and one-on-one belly dancing show was for our taste too expensive and the money is not justified. They offered a buffet, which is better in the hotel, then about 30 minutes we could experience on the ship at night and Cairo, then there is a belly dancing show. Was very relaxing on the whole vacation, we didn't have a person on our part, the organizational things for us to have clarified. Directly in the hotel there is a bank, where euro to Egyptian pounds exchanged. It is advisable, in Egypt to change money in the hotel, since the course is better than in Germany clearly. For the first tip at the airport can be used in the euro area, this will be welcome there. There is also a ATM directly across the street from the pool entrance. Here you can take credit card or money. Isolate Master Card debit card does not work. read more

There were artistic themes on it, you could keep them at check out. in the room was right the lighted closet, to the left the bath, straight ahead right desk, on the wall the flat screen TV. The safe was in the closet, free of charge with its own code to guarantee. Left in the room the two major single beds, behind a lamp, armchair and table. Behind the wall, large sliding door to the balcony. We had a beautiful view of the pool and the pyramids! You could enjoy them. Moment... Always? No, but later! in the bath was left the toilet, straight ahead washbasin and hair dryer, bath tub with glass wall on the right for shower. some gear provided: shower gel, shampoo and so on in a small Basket. They were changed upon request filled. we unpacked from, assorted the laundry piles, the cleaning and we relaxed. It was still early, about 10:30 A. M.

There are several restaurants: _Al Shams_: it has around the clock open and offers an international cuisine buffet and a full dinner menu _The Med_: in the pool on the island, Mediterranean kitchen _Laredo_: TeX-MEX, but unfortunately closed noisy half board there are more restaurants, Reviewer and Harris cafe, which I both didn't see. details to the prices I know I don't, but it was OK. the choice of the drinks was International, there is everything, what you want. Here, too, I know no prices. We are wine or beer drunkards. The wine was however too expensive (and too few), I drank also beer. There is service and Stella, you can very good drink. You know, 'beer and lemons soda' cyclists means. _MIttagessen_ we had to this day no program more and could enjoy the day. after all again had seen better, the function rooms were, we went to the restaurant. There was no buffet, but the places but could imagine, that the choice for very large must be. we took outside place, in the shade in front of the pool. A waiter came quickly and took the drinks order. The drinks we had to pay, the food was the half board. We had no large hunger and chose a soup( asparagus) and carpaccio as a main dish. On the dessert we declined. Both were fresh and very well prepared. The carpaccio würzten we ourselves. In addition there was bread sticks, similar to our Crissini. Everything was very delicious. The Rocket salad was fresh, but a other Variant, the sheets were large and reminded us of dandelion. _Abendessen_ we were there from the buffet after 9 days on the ship suffering. Not, that it was not good, no, we wanted once again really hot food, the sauce was not... in the meantime we had the second family met, who arrived after us were flying in luxor, they wanted in the restaurant food, from the buffet. we preferred, on the island to food, we had in the afternoon a look at the map thrown. Everything was well lit and very nice to look at. It is a slight breeze, it recommends a cardigan or something similar. we chose a steak burger, with fries and small salad Set. As drinks we ordered Campari/Orange, my husband beer and I cyclists. the food was: fresh roasted meat, hot and to the point, with rolls (you can safely leave! Also), fresh fries and crunchy salad. Barbecue sauce comes in addition, hot chili sauce and mayonnaise. The rolls was good, but it made full, the portion was very large and include a rolls not a priority 1! on the next day we ate evenings here again, this time we shared a pizza (with chicken), and salad. The portions are very large and we were more than full. This time it was drinks no Campari/Orange, but for me, Campari, pineapple, because the orange juice was from. Also very delicious and sometimes other. the food was very tasty, fresh and hot. _Frühstück_ we were there on the first morning something lame and didn't have much time for breakfast. the buffet looked great of, there was everything, what one wanted: a selection of cereals, breads, sausage, eggs in different Mach species and fresh as omelets... Marmelade, sweet Linings, sausage and so on everything possible. Coffee and tea were freshly delivered. at one of the two next Tomorrow we had scheduled more time and ate right. We took omelets, the full and was enough to noon. The coffee was not great, but OK. Fresher orange juice belongs to a breakfast and it was very good, but not cold.

Behind the big pool is a smaller pool, at the beach chairs in the water are. There is also a small Cascade, you have a magnificent view of the pyramids. in the afternoon we by the pool end. We moved around and went back down. Pool service, immediately a staff and brought us towels and they gave us beach chairs and sun screen so now, as we thought. Small side tables there was, for an ashtray and drinks. Then we went to the pool. _Der Pool_ right in front of the restaurant is a staircase with railing at the pool, where we went inside. Uups... We had not expected! The pool is the whole day in the blazing Stars and is... Very cold! We do not know the exact temperature, but it was damn cold! You had to move. The front area is relatively flat, not for small children, but for larger and for non-swimmer. Deep water by this ball chains is, as we know it from our bathrooms. Swim you, will gradually deeper. In the middle the pool is the restaurant 'the MED', you can swim around. Turn right past brings you to the deep water, 2.20 meters, if I remember correctly. There is also the pool bar, some rockBar stools at the bar. Here you can rest and have a drink. However the water was not warmer... Here, too, there are all drinks, you can imagine. Beer freshly draught. They call your number and must sign, but with water spots on the receipt end. in the pool there are benches, you can relaxed in the sun and... Right: the pyramids in. the pool is only about 1 meters deep, for smaller children good, but also not much warmer than the pool.

from the airport Cairo is about 45 minutes without traffic jams, peak certainly longer. The hotel lies on a 4 lane, much traveled street. It was quite noisy on this page. the pyramids are really close by, depending on the room you can see. You could go there on foot, because of the driving but not recommended.

Many things were already said about this hotel (most of the match Sunday), so we summary: per-a very nice and new pool area with two large freshwater pools (1 pool brand after reconstruction, in the spring of 2011 only finished!). Also a kids pool area.-you always got a beach chair and an umbrella by the pool (all free).-quiet and very nice ambience throughout the property. Only a few guests.-view from the pool and partly the rooms directly to the Giza pyramids! We had a room on the top floor of the new cultivation with a ... pyramid view from the balcony-it was great! The dinner and breakfast was very good. No hint. very friendly service (front desk, concierge, etc.). location to visit the pyramids very good! The pyramids are within walking distance.-new or converted part building. Now completely ready. cons-location is a bit off for other attractions in Cairo, that is always needed a taxi (but very cheap). Tip: taxis not order at the reception, but either even at the roundabout in front of the hotel one stop (be careful, drivers may not always English!) or directly by the hotel-congierge of order (the concierge give a tip.). It was cheaper and better than at the reception!-The air conditioner in the entire area fell partly from. And the August. Puhh!-Was a noisy street in front of the hotel hear it (only by the pool, not in the rooms). Tips/comments-top trip to the pyramids from the hotel with a taxi: Taxi as described above to organise (including where appropriate a day before booking). Pyramids-trip should be no more than 150.-le cost (about 3-4 hours duration). The taxi driver drove a ticket to the fair (only tickets possible, no reservations possible). After the ticket he drove with the taxi to the (very large!) pyramids area to anywhere you want to go, for example to Giza-pyramids, the sphinx, the lookout for all three pyramids, to the pyramids, etc.! it where you want and wait for one to one, for example, the Giza-pyramids inside besichtgt. It works to 100% and is a very pleasant/comfortable way the pyramids (especially in the heat) to visit-a kind of private trip! The cab driver should be paid only after the trip (maximum 50% before only when it wants to! before).-for the Cheops-Pyramid are just 300 per day tickets for the inside visit issued! So in the morning at 09:00 A.M. hurry! The pyramid mittlgroße (= Chefren) has no ticket for inside. The survey included all pyramids Sphinx is always possible.-If you want to use the taxi longer, so combinations are possible (for example, there is still drive to downtown Cairo or back to the airport). So it cost, for example, a taxi for the day with good bargain. 300-350 about.-(per taxi) le. As I said, the hotel concierge willing to help with the taxi for baksheesh (= tip) and good!Location-within walking distance to the pyramids is not recommended! See the following point.-the pyramid schemes and on the way there are very many cameleer and kids on the way all baksheesh want or what to sell (guides, tourist stuff, camel rides, etc.)very annoying! but always nicely cool and say ' no!-evenings at the pyramids also light-shows. If you like it.--in the holy month of fasting Ramadan all attractions about 1-2 hours earlier!-we had for. 350-le a comprehensive taxi trip made as follows: pyramids and Sphinx/second first back to the hotel (shower, check-out, etc.)/ third/fourth Citadel Egyptian Museum and mosque Mohammed Ali/Khan El-khalili bazaar for the fifth or sixth back to Cairo-Airport. A very great but good solid taxi trip! on the side next to the hotel (with the noisy Street) was a small supermarket where you can buy cheap drinks, etc. But be careful, some annoying guy who wants a of the streets in his shop tow.-total is for such an individual Cairo trip (with taxi, private domestic flight, etc.) may be a little adventurousness necessary. But if you book this with a very impressive dares, quite cheap and a little comfortable Cairo-experience (as private taxi) to the rewards you will remember for a long time and well. read more

The room in the new annes is with simple elegance equipped. Hallway and bathroom with natural stone floor, the actual room with a bright carpet. The wooden furniture was very modern, a large built-in cupboard with plenty of storage space and drawers, as well as safe is in the corridor available, at the mini bar adjoined. In the room there is a desk with lcd -tv. The beds are plentiful dimensioned, the air conditioning works extremely silent and a glass front to the very large balcony made possible a great view on the pyramids. The bathroom is functional designed and features a large walk-in shower with a rainfall shower head. By a glass panal to the room arrives also natural light in the prisoners bathroom. The other facilities is next to bidet, magnifying mirror, and very nice sink, a hair dryer and various toiletries. Bathrobes are in the closet and bath available.

The gastronomy in the main restaurant leaves nothing to the imagination. For breakfast is next to all kinds of cereal, bread /rolls, cold cuts, jams, egg dishes and more local to enjoy. The kochinseln, where you one or another freshly prepared. Only the lack of sun terrace is one small downside, however you can to a small terrace by the pool entrance outside the food let down. The courts in the evening are attractive and tasted excellent. A good service completes the general impression perfectly off. Very pleasant is furthermore the outdoor bar, in which you with a view of the pyramids relaxed round off your day. At the pool bar next to the drinks also snacks on days serves, here is especially the mezze definitely recommendable.
