Building and pool made sure 5-star standard. The service is worse than 4 stars. Friendly superficiality as usual nowhere in Thailand. By the pool-restaurant and at the breakfast buffet one is almost ignored. The front desk is simply arrogance. No free wi-fi with 5 stars. The restaurants show no highlights with exception the viennese café's. the beach is much worse than in ao nang. And there is the management and makes the shuttle bus to the neighboring island subject to a charge! From each of course service money to cut seems to be the motto of the hotel management to ... be. We were 6 days in the Sofitel and were rather disappointed. The hotel is situated in the middle of nothing and the beach in front of the hotel there is not recommendable. Nice hotel, but not on 5 star level. The service specially for breakfast really leaves to be desired. The beach in our experience anyway not really blown away, but this is probably in Krabi everywhere, the traumatrände are probably on the islands. What we absolutely infuriates in a 5 star hotel is fully chargeable wi-fi, to absolutely hefty prices. The room was great and the pool huge read more

The Sofitel is a bit off the beaten path, what transport not very simple power. The hotel offers large restaurants with international (high ) prices, by the proximity to more comfortable and far cheaper restaurants not tried out. The breakfast buffet is, in my view overpriced; it is modern and plentiful, but the choice is not so especially, the high price would justify.
We had access to the Lounges of the hotel, Club Hemingway orchomenos. The extra charge but is 2200 THB per person and day and is in my opinion not justified. The lounge is located in a fashionable location nearby the lobby without any view and has even less charm as the whole hotel. A cabinet with neon tube, some lost effective table and eternally the same Aufzugsmusik characterize the dining room, two verlassenene sofa corner, the dark 2. area. The lounge is open only from 9 until 20 o'clock open, what an early snack impossible. very large and clean hotel, everything extremely well maintained. Guests mixed, fortunately, hardly any Russians. Room and bathroom (and bed!) are very large. But what is missing, is the 'Thai' touch. We were a few years on KOH Samui, the was a bit completely different. The hotel could exactly well in Spain or Turkey. The rooms are almost hermetically sealed, it lacks the'open', what you normal in such areas of the world finds. Nevertheless: if this'shortcoming' don't mind, will certainly feel at home in the area. read more

A beautiful, spacious and neat area. The structure of the guests were quite mixed( Russians, Scandinavian, Asians).
A large downside for us it was liable to pay the costs Internet in the room. Although there were three computer in the business room, however for an area of this size, it is a joke. In this day and age should free Internet access in the room with a five star hotel long of course.

great hotel Anlage, always friendly staff, good food ( prices however european).
footpath into the next village with restaurants at street or beach along 10-15 minutes.
after aonang( touristic Mecca for everyone, gladly buys) with a Tuk-Tuk or taxi about 15 minutes.
otherwise there is in the hotel many offers for boating etc. who the cheaper, to aonang or outside in front of the door good bargain.
the complex itself is very nice, food really good, soley the many Europeans (not the German -i must here in protection take), the mornings at 7 o'clock the loungers by the pool reserve ... then by absence conspicuous, were somewhat annoying.
but thanks to of the staff and own ingenuity you still found a spot found.
to the beach (which we liked, but we were also before in Australia) you have to cross the street, helps a a nice young man in uniform over the zebra crossing. There are taxis and Tuk-tuks.
for us as relaxation after a strenuous tour for 4 days the perfect relaxation. If Thailand meet and visit would like, should go elsewhere. read more

At first glance a beautiful hotel in colonial style. International guests. Unfortunately seems the management at-ders in the F&B overburdened. Absolutely bad service in the pool restaurant KOH Poda. The room in hotel Kathrin beach matched a moderate fast food restaurants. The main restaurant Maya is unfortunately only for, however good, breakfast open. The Italian and the Thai restaurant offer only mediocre food and service. No F&B service direct by the pool. No cafe available, the bar almost always empty. A maître d'hotel is not visible.

We selected the hotel primarily as a base for traveling with a rental car in the surrounding area. Transportation to and from the hotel was pretty good. The breakfast buffet was very rich, but was unfortunately not very varied. At the large pool area (7,000 square meters) you can very good, what you from the beach, separated by a road can't say. The beach is very narrow, garbage and small stone paths. You can drive for five euro with the hotel-the nearby speedboat on Hong Kong Island, where there is a very nice beach. The resort is quite remote ..., to AO Nang is 30 minutes, but were also a regular shuttle bus for this little money. The way to foot to the restaurants in the nearby town late at night only for football diehards, as there are no sidewalks and the style of driving of the locals is quite sporty. A rental car is available for about 20 euro per day including risk, it is recommended that a Igo GPS or the OVI maps for free NOKIA Nokia phones! the hotel is a golf hotel. We had the hotel in our honeymoon despite Regelzeit in Krabi for a week and were more than pleasantly surprised by the hotel. I have never seen such a large pool area seen!

A real dream hotel with the largest pool of asia.
There were enough pool chairs by the pool available. The beach did not please us too much, but take the boat to koh hong hotel drive, where a fantastic beach. We always freddy and jürgen walked into the town to eat. The closest restaurants and shops are about ten minutes away. The food in the hotel is tasty but just too expensive. One can eat outside for a third. To rest and recover can only be recommended! read more

We chose this hotel in the end of our vacation, to get a bit of luxury to enjoy, and we were not disappointed!
the rooms are very nice equipped, the bathroom has everything you need, including a make-up mirror.
The breakfast was very extensive, with freshly squeezed juices, sausages, cheese, salad ingredients, cereal, yogurt, fruit, asia corner not much to choose from, with the egg station steaks, potato variants, sweet. And much more
The service to ko hong( highly recommendable) includes: water, beach towels and beach mat! National park fee of 200 baht one must pay.
You can order a ... lunch, the island is served (we didn't).
The location is perhaps not ideal, but the pool makes it worth it!
You had to walk a few meters, you come to shops and small Thai restaurants. Since we were at the end of our trip in the mood for local had, we visited 'freddy and jürgen', offering good quality food. Other guests were here from the sofitel, the preferred Italian, and obviously this was good. Everything is located on the road, not the beach. To The centre at the Sheraton, it is a bit further away, in the evening because of the truck's not so good.
In front of the hotel there were taxis, the reception staff was also for 500 baht calls.
In ao nang there are 20 minutes by taxi, costs 400 baht, if you want to be independent from the hotel shuttle, back also 400 (want to some 500). For a couple of days it was great for us, for longer it was not outside. read more

If this hotel would be a nice beach, it would be almost impossible to top. But unfortunately the beach is unacceptable. The one has each day the possibility, with the speed boat to hong kong island beach is not really a real balance, since you have to 14:30 o'clock 'imprisoned' is.
