    The beach is right next to hotel! There were enough beach chairs for all! To make many trips are offered, some are very expensive! The next larger town puerta plata it is circa 10. kilometer, which you with the taxi ( 20 Dollar) or with the public bus (-, 50 cents per person) to reach can.

The hotel is mainly from canadian and some american guests visited, the partly very loudly are... - sadly at night as well. The animations in the pool area are pushy and very loud-nothing, if you on vacation rather're looking for peace and relaxation. The hygiene is absolutely commendable. The food was borderline, hardly fruit, unsightly salads, tough meat and not durchgebratener fish. Oh so-and at least 3 times per week there was no lemons/limes for fish, water, cocktails... read more

The hotel complex consists of 3 hotels: the Riu village, Riu Merenque and the RIU Bachata. The merenque is located in the middle. But it could, with the exception of dinner; all units. The complex was already a bit old but our room was renovated and in good condition. Only the old crt needs revamp. The cleanliness in the room and in the entire hotel is excellent. It was clean everywhere and raked. The standtoiletten were always clean. Great was, that in the area of the lobby every day per device 90 minutes a free wireless internet access was. Not ... very fast but at least. As the time share could, one comes also really good doing. During our stay from the 12 march until 12.4. were in the first 3 weeks to 70% russians in the hotel. The 2. large proportion were canadians. There were very few german and a few scandinavian guests. The russians are not unpleasantly noticeable. read more

    The rooms are huge and our was in good condition. The furniture were a bit old but alright. Mattresses were not worn out only the tv (2 german programs) should be replaced. What we noticed however, is the musty smell, if you into the room comes. We have found, that it from of the airconditioning comes. This needed to be cleaned. Habituation needy is also the toilets in the Dominican Republic. The pools are always until half full water. If you stay here for the first time comes thinks the toilet is clogged. As it Rio standard, there was a flaschenbar (Gin, Brandy, Wodka and rum. Below is the mini bar with soft drinks and beer. This is all 2 days refilled.

    There was the main restaurant and the beach restaurant, which in the evening the italian and the steak house,. The food in the restaurant was absolutely not worth 5 stars and not at all Riu standard! Particularly the in the restaurant served wine was a catastrophe and for us not edible! The summit but was the lunch in the strandrestaurent. There is every day pig's trotters in sauce (long bone with a rind), hamburgers and Hot Dog. Of course also pasta and chips. Furthermore several indefinable meals. Good was the salad bar, dessert and the soup. However, there were always a soup with various deposits, poultry, beef or fish. Perhaps us the kitchen so unpleasant, because very much lots of dishes typical for the country were. In a Riu hotel you can but mostly international cuisine expect. Else in the bars. Good drinks and wine from the bottle of, the well is drinkable. This wine is also in the restaurants and not this broth from the faucets.

    The friendliness of the staff, whether bar, reception, on the premises and restaurant was perfect, with the exception of the waiters in the restaurant, the only friendly, if flows tip. Is none, they know you not more. (1 waiters and 1 waitress). The cleaning of the rooms with us was perfect. Our griselda has done a good job and us with many lovely towel creations was surprised. With the staff could one with german or english well inform. This also applies to the front desk.

    The hotel is directly at the beach. Puerto Plata is about 10 kilometers away, maimon about 5 for shopping there are some shops in the hotel and the caribbean street. Here you can all the usual decorations at inflated prices. In the hotel are taxis available, but we didn't use it.

There were beautiful 2 weeks in RIU Merengue. The outdated hotel. Because of the size of the hotel was naturally cafeteria atmosphere in the main restaurant. 5* category was somewhat exaggerated. Price-performance ratio was okay. We would like to come again. Excursions offered by the tour operators were a bit too expensive, that is why we have 4 trips with a providers on the site. Simply from home we contact, then the Andreas from http://www. Through www. extratours-sosua. De/with us in the hotel reported and we all agreed. Were great desk, no mass tourism. All told we were with the vacation satisfied. However have we not, again to this hotel to come. There is a lot of alcohol consumed. As all inclusive-guest we had the feeling, we are paying for the other with, as we only a little wine (not very good) or beer lemonade drink. For those, those gladly cocktails, rum, Wodka and so on drink, must the hotel a paradise. The hotel is beautiful. The beach clean and tidy. Unfortunately we had 4 weeks 2 weeks rain; but that is in the rainy season probably always sunday If we go to the ... cathedral. Republic of flying into, then to Punta Cana or samana. read more

Exactly one year we once vacation in RIU Merengue and spent a outstandingly beautiful vacation. To us not at all understand this enormous change. For 2012 expectation renovation did not take place- families from Europa and Canada now extremely many hard-drinking russians and loud partygoers. One of the Riu usual good food regards - an only letdown! In the last year we were knocked out by from the variety and variety and the very high quality of the dishes. Now there are always the same-even if packaged under changing bezeichnungem. Of quality no more talk-often totally not enjoyable - fish ... and other animals are too often died, and much too dead cooked - the meat was actually always tough and partially. Even disgusting. With the usual high Riu-standard the everything unfortunately nothing more to do. Only saving grace is the bar, and that is important for all the disappointments, the sword has. Due to health reasons before the beginning the journey from travel agency and even expressed wishes about the location of the room and equipment with fixed mattresses were completely ignored. There were times when Riu, where the of course was. The housekeeping gave it despite regular tip not even the minimalleistungen, like shampoo or washcloth, the from the hotel made available are.     The first room 1044 (sea view) smelled of smoke, rot and damp. We immediately complained, and on the front desk 2 key and 1 room choose. We have the room 1075 upper floor in the 2 series chosen with view to the green garden with palm trees, where it totally was quiet, and 1-2 minutes to the beach, reception and restaurant. All rooms have in my opinion the same size, except for the suites. The rooms are huge, all have terrace or balcony with 8 units. Bettenmaß 1.40 times 2 meters. The mattresses were very good. Inventory is somewhat older. Room and bathroom were every day tiptop clean. The safe was free. Free minibar. Towels were every day replaced.

    All meals in buffet form in the hotel, in addition at noon in the pool- beach bar. You should bring a little country-typical kitchen fit, there is something there for any taste. There are 2 à la carte restaurant, the morning you had to reserve (steak house and italian). Food and beverage the whole day you could! In the bars was a wide choice of drinks. The cocktails tasted almost all the same, they differ only in color. In the entire property is extreme hygiene and cleanliness. For a plant in the tropics and in this order of magnitude we have, it has not yet experienced, in front of the restaurants and the toilets is staff with händedesinfektionslösung, a great solution.

    From the airport one drives about 40 minutes the complex is right at the beach located. The beach was just amazing, by the broad palmenstreifen with natural shade, without unpleasant umbrellas or mushrooms. Enough space for every, one crouched never crowded. Chairs were abundant, you didn't to reserve, so what i have never had in any holiday. The bungalows are 1-3-minute walk from the beach

This hotel you can not recommend to anyone! The first room smelled, strongly after rot and damp. We immediately complained. The statement domini from the reception was 'top'. Verbatim' make fast, i need the room for the other guests'. The 2. room was so dirty, simply disgusting! In bed were stains and hair, in the bathroom there was mold, the clock radio had dirt, that telephone you could not touch. At the buffet it doesn't look better. From vegetables carved figures were already withered or moldy, the food in general, you could not enjoy. I rinderfliet in pepper sauce ... try, the meat was so tough, i could spit. Our neighbors ring around it was as it was probably not better. When we on the next day checked out, there were 5 people at the front desk, the room complained about it. read more

We were already the 2 time in this hotel and we will by all means come again. Unfortunately, it was over christmas/new year's eve almost too full. Even when the hotel is already a little bit older it has a wonderful green garden, the staff always smiling and it was constantly kept clean. Our tip: book your excursions with dani-marysol tours we have already the 2'. And there is nothing better (believes it, we have this vacation also someplace else a tour and it was a letdown and not worth the money) dani has great tours if it the Dominican ... Republic yet does not know and if you already know, you can simply say what you wanted to see and it works very efficiently and simply. Pietro the dominican rep who speaks german well is great you learn everything you need to know and more. read more

We had 2 great weeks in the Riu that only what really went on the nerves were grumbling guests, one must nevertheless be surprised what requirements degrees in the puncto meal some have. If you want like at home should in future there spend a holiday or at least his time on vacation not use them to profelieren in which one everything put. In terms of excursions we could the team of extra tours warmly recommend. We have 3 excursions with Andreas and its crew and were really thrilled http://www. Through www. extratours-sosua. De/just reinklicken and Andreas a short ... e mail. And still which, over the many pensioners on the complained here is, we find it quite shabby some did mention. I can the worst reviews of the hotel not understand. We found standard, courtesy of the staff etc. Really good. You get this trip for around 1400 €-here, it is the flight alone almost 1000 Euro. What do you expect for 400 €, whereas the company also a piece of from the cakes will. We were very satisfied. The hotel is split in RIU Merengue village, RIU Merengue and RIU Bachata. The RIU Merengue village is currently closed and apparently on 20 december reopen. However, i have to say here, if this hotel again was open and the other two ... hotels fully would be, then it is clearly too full in relation to beach and pool. Beginning december was the village still closed and the other not really fully booked, thus at the beach always enough beach chairs available, and we were by the pool from the village (this has open) almost alone or just at the beach. The rooms are although not the newest, but clean and you don't find it disgusting. The whole hotel is always gardeners and cleaning staff alright kept. Free wi-fi in the lobby, but you can expect miracles, for my mails and short wetterabfragen but definitely enough. read more

    The rooms were sufficiently equipped. Large beds, a table, two chairs, a large table/ or desk, where the tv tin with drawers sufficient and a wandschrand with a safe and mini bar, all of which two days is filled up. Rum is also on the wall. It is cleaned every day, but very late for us. You don't find it disgusting. Big balcony, however, if you in the downstairs floor is, this already times with rain be flooded. We had a top room-in the middle in it. Was totally quiet, the rooms are not very badly soundproofed and one is fast everywhere, no matter wether beach or somewhere else. There are also rooms, the we didn't want. One is on the corner to the pool, here weekend a generator the whole time nearby, super annoying-but with a view of the sea... Others are next to the street, here you could also unlucky. But right in the middle of everything we thought was good.

    You can all restaurants use, only for dinner should you in its hotel, why also always... The food was good, of course no 5-course menu, however something for everyone, also lots of fast food, which we personally didn't bother us. The tables were also quite quickly cleared and the tables were sufficiently available. For breakfast it always had freshly squeezed juices or even the juices from the dispenser. Eggs, rolls, sausage, crepes (at all much desserts ) and so on everything available. The waiters were even without many tips nice.

    As you in the forest came in calls... The staff is just as friendly like in Germany also, some of them are muffelköppe and the others are totally nice and always smiling. With english you always got along, however, most german. We once needed once a repairman, we at the front desk requested, we should then back to the room this wait, we immediately went to the room and since the technician was already waiting for us. This is what i call quick!

    Which we of the entertainment saw was truthfully, rather embarrassing, adults people make games from children's birthdays. Well, who likes it. The evening entertainment we never quite seen, because we the entertainment team found really not good. The beach is not so big, but okay, yes, no Karibik beach and missing here i am at the rear the sand. Barefoot is always so a thing. The water was also not clearly, but could on the rainfall of the last few weeks have been, since the water of the mountains yes irgenwohin tiles must. Like the sea after weeks of drought we don't know looks. The pool on Bachata is ok, however only rampage. Loud music and childrens games with adults. There we were not even. The same shall apply for the pool on merenque, the with the music but also a see a pause. We have by the pool from the village, it was not fully and very peaceful, however i imagine the different cards, if the village again open, then it is certainly busy and noisy. The americans are apparently in pool with loud music. The chairs and covers were in the village the worst, though i could imagine, that changed, if it will re-open, because at the beach and the other pools almost only new chairs are (as mentioned, almost). It is also a shame, that the small bay at the hotel not really used, here could the hotel also couches stand, unfortunately, this bay only from the traders besieged, what really a great shame is.

    To the airport one drives about 45 minutes To the beach it is depending on the room a few meters. The rear rooms have it's really not far! Shopping you can forget, is a caribbean street, very expensive or annoying strandbudenverkäufer at both ends of the hotel. These nerves gewaltigt and need platzverbot get. The hotel is situated in the middle of nowhere, you can here so not for night life hope. But the area is simply great.

Best Riu-quality, has everything, what i for a relaxing bath/ leseurlaub need. Particularly the mixed nationalities and age groups have very good. In addition the complex is so big, that i never reserve a beach chair had, there were even on christmas enough sunbeds and space, no matter wether on one of the 3 pools or at the beautiful of course tree beach. read more

From a Riu hotel i expected more, the leisure activities are on beach and pool limited the offered sports possibilities corresponded to the claim in 2012, but are rather the 80 years. The staff are very nice and hard-working the flaws of the kitchen and the entire hotel, but not equal. The hotel is mostly english tourists and so enormous quantities of pasta, rice and fries convoluted. So if you like only the thick sattmacher eat comes here fully at its expense. Otherwise is the kitchen a catastrophe. My wife and i with a good constitution is sick and could ... finally a few pounds decrease. We can about this hotel only advise against read more

Pure relaxation in a wonderful and very well maintained hotel. The staff were always friendly and helpful. The german speaking signed are i very pleasant noticed.
