Were now to 2. the Merengue and we liked it just as good as the 1st time. The area is a well-kept condition. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner are varied. The dinner was in 14 days not once repeated. read hotel review

We were rather disappointed and the area has no Riu-standard. The worst was the food and the rooms. The pool was dirty. The rooms were rather 3 * if at all ☹ read hotel review

A very picturesque landscaped, large hotel area. There was everything available, which one for a beautiful bath vacation needs. Unfortunately, the devil in the detail. Food in restaurants in quality to be desired. Bathroom frequently not thoroughly cleaned. Cleaning lady it also on it, during our presence to clean the room. read hotel review

The hotel has its good times behind itself. The rooms are old and are currently only color renewed. By the technical state of the air conditioners (noise and inconvenience by smell) do many vacationers on their use and sleep with open balcony door and window. These are me flyscreens and for fresh air. The moisture could get but also in the rooms and everything smelled musty. %singlelinebreak % If you are looking for peace, is here for the next time in the bottles hotel. Next to the hotel complex, a new port facility built. From 07:00 a. m. are ... the strong truck traffic and construction noise not to be missed. %singlelinebreak % The hotel is very noisy. Also at night the noise from the bar far to hear. %singlelinebreak % The room service the wake or sometimes even in the late afternoon. The staff works in the restaurants unmotivated and listless. The staff in the bars and the entertainers do their job well. %singlelinebreak % The breakfast is also not on the level of a 4 star resort. The coffee tasted like an instant option and other coffees in the breakfast, but only from 10:00 a. m. at the bar. At noon and in the evening the offer is a little bit better and there should be something for everyone. The food is in all 3 areas of the hotel complex right. The way to the other restaurants makes no sense. %singlelinebreak % Couches are sufficiently present and at any time you will find free places. Dry towels are in the afternoon not always available. The hotel is like all photos to see divided into bungalows. It was very clean and everywhere staff, which look attending the area. It was an all inclusive hotel and you are in the lobby 90 minutes wi-fi per device on the day. The guests were from all age groups and mostly consist of canadians and german. But there were also some english, dutch and finns to our time in this resort. You can all 3 hotels in this area use (RIU Bachata, RIU Merengue garden, RIU Merengue Village). read hotel review

    The rooms were big enough, as was the bathroom. Everything was very clean. There is a fan, air conditioning, tv (2 german channels) and a minibar, all 2 days is filled up. The balcony invited to spend time. The furniture was surely not the newest but perfectly ok. The only thing that really be changed should the mattresses are, as one which the years very look at them.

    There is 1 main restaurant and 2 à la carte restaurants, which however, as didn't use it. Thus the 2 neighboring hotels use, we have the bars not counted. :-) there were enough available. The food is great. Who finds here nothing is even debt. There is something for everyone, in the 2 weeks we were there there was also daily here and there, new dishes. Of course repeated some dishes, but we know that no different and is not further tragic. One tries every night in a different country as subject (chinese, italian, dominican etc.. ). Before you enter the restaurant is a nice lady, what a disinfectant in the hands full. Also the breakfast was great. It was never boring and always tasted good. Here are the many fresh juices to be highlighted, the daily returns. Only complaint: one comes to bottles time to the restaurant was queue announced, to one its meals on the plates. Perhaps they should have with regard to distribution in the area long overdue. Tips weren't expected (the we know different), but we liked to give.

    We have only positive things to say about the service. We were always during the same waiters (here once again a big thank you to Adolfo). After a few days has this every evening the table for us and very nicely decorated. The staff in this hotel you can't say anything negative. It is each endeavors to the guests a beautiful holiday. Many can a few words german however one is substantially better with english hands. The room cleaning was our needs in accordance with fine. It was never dirty.

    Activities: This is for us the largest point of criticism. The entertainers celebrate gladly itself. During the day everything was still ok. There were the usual games in progress. What the animation however evening show view, was for us not comprehensible. At 10 of 14 days in which we were there hop you just on the stage around (didn't look like a dance or something like that), get 7 guests on the stage any games and the animators also party. On 4 days there were shows, which were very good. More of it and everything is super. However each evening the same phrases and 'loud' from the entertainers to hear annoying in the long run but. Beach: The beach is nice, but not more. If you want to beach walks one is here not correctly. We found this very sad. The beach is not very big. To the left and to the right is relatively fast end. Also told us, at our time toxic fish in the sea and you are therefore not snorkelling should. We also have some met other guests, which in echinoids entered or have taken (and this more than once) and when the doctor found. We therefore have the beach was very rarely used. Pool: The pool is great, met its purpose and the pools of all 3 hotels could use was also something for everyone.

    Depending on the location of the bungalows in which one stayed, it was very close (suites) or somewhat further to the beach. But it was never longer than 5 minutes to foot, as the whole area is right on the beach. The transfer from the airport took about 1 hour. The next town of maimon is easy to reach by foot. We stayed here 2 times a 'trip' now made. The people were all very friendly. After Puerto Plata you can take the bus, this drives everywhere where one is, so also right on the main street of the hotel. Just wave and the bus stops. Here you drove about 20 minutes. We personally found the location of the hotel, not so nice, as you quite secluded from the entire area is. However you want to not so much on own fist see, one is here correctly waived. We went on excursions with extra tours. Here we were with Ewald on the way and we can just recommend. We were at the falls (which you up climbs and then again slip down) as well as Paradise Island (here you can wonderful snorkelling). The excursions with extra tours are a lot cheaper than the other travel agent. Over TUI but we did a halbtägigen horseriding booked. This led us to lorilar ranch. Here we were so warmly received, that the somewhat increased price on TUI quite was worth it. Otherwise directly in front of the hotel a variety of water sports offered. You can go snorkelling, diving, pedalo or canoe. Furthermore, this provider catamaran tours and quadausflüge, which we also did.

Very beautiful holiday with good price performance ratio. Due to the long time to complete, it is appropriate at least 2 weeks or even better longer to book %singlelinebreak % To emphasize is the always very friendly staff (reception, entertainment, restaurant and bars, etc.). %singlelinebreak % The plant consists of altogether three hotels RIU Merengue, RIU Merengue Village and RIU Bachata. %singlelinebreak % All of the bodies of the three hotels (for example pools, restaurants, bars) can be used. Exception is the dinner, which in the booked hotel must be taken. With the food you had to in ... the RIU Merengue both the selection and the taste make. All in all, we had a beautiful holiday. The complex itself is very tastefully decorated and the rooms were freshly renovated. From the beach, you should not the typical caribbean sea (which one for example on the south or east side of the island is) expected. From the food, we could breakfast very praise, lunch and dinner was rather weak (partly to overcooked or bad taste) the dessert (for example cake) were very tasty. The shops are very overpriced (loosely german standard, if not more). Here one must always act and can at least with the price 50% down! But ... also here the people not more going on. Cozy look is not necessary - to buy, buy, buy! If it is also always with Peso are charged (with Dollar or Euro will higher prices)! Also we unfortunately had to see, that the service and friendliness from the tip depends (among other things also restaurant reservations). The excursions are also very expensive (also here with tips expect)! We were for example, on the Bacardi-island, a beautiful trip. However, you should for the horseback riding again 5 Dollar tip and for snorkel gear seperate (has us were not before said!). read hotel review

Nice, relaxing beach holiday Were 3 weeks in december, hotel was older but very clean, nice, friendly staff, always have a smile, food varied i think something for everybody, 2 specialty restaurants we used was delicious. 2003 we had our honeymoon here, now we wanted to with our children a Beautiful holiday. Now our conclusion: The hotel is exactly as the beach was great! The rooms are old and very dated. They are clean but unfortunately one can see on the beds as old and abgeschmirrt they are. The food is always the same. After 4 days you don't you know more what to eat. The choice is modest and the what was offered, is unfortunately little trained staff in tatters similar words cut. This is by far the absolute worst rui hotel in which i ... was. Category 5 stars and the TUI catalog 4 stars is a joke. The with 3 stars to fight. This is sad for so much money so a bunch of crap get. read hotel review

We stayed for 14 days over new year's eves in the RIU Merengue Village and would highly recommend this hotel. Since less beds, than the two neighboring hotels (the all together in the bay), it concerns there ' cozy to. Each of us is on its own expense. The offer of beach Volleyball, child care, the beach chairs at the fantastically beautiful beach and swimming in the sea (better wear beach shoes. Wg. Sea urchins on an upstream reef.) Was something for everyone ☺ the hotel staff were friendly and gave themselves a lot of effort. Especially sweety. We ... have also beautiful excursions. A name and phone number i would like to very well-intentioned advice to this point forward: petero süro prefix dominican republic 829,340 2327. He speaks perfect german and is a soul of human. Petro is the contact person in the region Puerto Plata, for really everything! We were already 2. the RIU Merengue and already 2 times in the ex Riu Mambo, which is currently closed. The resort offers 3 hotel was only about half full, so it easily possible, upon request a quiet spot at the beach or at the pool of the ex -Mambo to find. Since the resort for many years, the facilities are partly already a bit older, but clean and well maintained. As mentioned in several reviews, spend wealthy dominican family clan the weekends in the area. We booked this however not as disturbing, since these people not bad behavior than ... the rest of the guests from overseas. Also you get so at least as all-inclusive tourists a klitze-small insight into the lifestyle of the dominican population, when one finally as a guest.     The rooms are spacious and feature a large terrace, or balcony. The furniture was already some years on the embossment - is still from the time, as rattan furniture in were, but that didn't mean, that the decor worn would be. Important: the beds are comfortable with good mattresses. The rooms feature a mini bar included refrigerator, telephone, tv and air conditioning. The bathroom of our room was well equipped (soap/hair dryer), clean and functional, but shows most, that a complete overhaul in the foreseeable time would be. The großflächenspiegel over the sink was at the edges already partially blind, and a shower in the bathtub is now also not contemporary anymore. The festverglaste window over the tub had a crack - not bad, but looked just a blemish. Also would be desirable, that wi-fi internet access will be free of charge available in the rooms would be also this would be a contemporary offer.

    With the catering trade we were very satisfied. All coworkers - from the management to the maids were very friendly and also tried very hard, the guests a pleasant and enjoyable stay.     The pool of the hotel Merengue the area was pretty dowdy (quadratisch-praktisch-gut). Since the pools are from ex -Mambo and the Bachata much nicer laid out. In the main season it could possibly have been difficult, a place to find. The beach is very nice - plenty of palm trees ensure the whole day natural shade (there is therefore no umbrellas). Here also everyone ' his' place to chill out - there are enough lounge chairs. Changing rooms, showers and toilet are always in accessible proximity and especially. The latter very clean and well maintained. We loved our morning daily Tennis played, and must as, that the hotel management time for new coating concerns should, since the subsoil in many places already plain lies.     The resort is situated at the Playa de maimon, about 7 kilometer from Puerto Plata away. In the neighboring Bahia de maimon - once idyllic bay with stunning panorama (from aussichtspavillon of the Bachata from to admire), builds a company a facility for cruise ships. While Bachata partly by building noise affected, in Merengue thereof nothing true. Since the north of the dominican republic to Kolumbus times populated and it was more infrastructure, could be substantially more destinations find than in Punta Cana. The hotel was in the past very good and has unfortunately deteriorated. Especially at weekends is the serenity of the hotel zero. The area itself and the rooms are very clean and in a good residential condition The guest structure is well mixed from infant to pensioners/pensioner everyone was represented. There are german, dutch, british, austrians, swiss, americans and canadians and dominicans to be met. None of the nationalities was above average, except for the weekends. read hotel review

    The rooms are clean, have a mini-bar with refridgerator (each 2. day), bathroom with bathtub, wb and toilet, daily cleaning. Tv with two german channels. Large box spring beds and air conditioning. One of the aforementioned weekends was under our room a small nursery by local guests. I counted 14 children from babies to about 12 years old. The 12 - year-old was the kindergarten teacher. While the parents evening celebrations went were the children with a price tag noise level of us are more or less protected. One can hardly believe it, if you was not there... Mrs example also had to smile as i of which reported (understandably) me was the laugh since passed already... After a short more vigorous approach by mrs b. with the front desk was the nursery closed for a short time. When our travel agent left the hotel germed the need for a nursery and this was recently again in operation. Yes, in hindsight very funny...

    From sunday evening until friday lunch is the food very good. There is enough choice and the quality of the food was very good. It is in the change two speciality restaurants once a week can be booked. The steakhouse and the italian. In both the food was very well prepared and tasty. There were different theme nights and there was always something tasty to find. Now i come times to the weekends. Three pieces at the number had my girlfriend and i really bear. On the weekends, from friday lunch travel many locals with countless children in the hotel. These are very friendly, no question. But the behaviour which in the stands in no relation to the number of the hotels. I see this as an organizational shortcoming of the hotel staff! The local guests pushing itself in principle before, try various meals at the output and didn't like the angebissenen cake pieces or angeleckten server just back. My friend has been of small boys and beatniks young groped. I have these shortcomings repeatedly complained, the front desk understood at once neither german nor english. Our travel agent here mrs b. and mr k. of the TUI (also for 1-2 - fly undelegated) were not in the location this to remedy deficiencies. Mrs b. was very hard but also through discussions with the staff of nothing. Mr k. was not really interested, knew the lack already and told us we should be the next time spend more money and book another hotel. Convinced that the quality and integrity of the TUI travel agent...

    The staff is very friendly and speaks usually following languages: spanish, english, french, german partially also russian. The room cleaning was always very thorough and there was never any reason to complain. The child care seems to be very good, two ladies cared for the children, even with various problems they remained always friendly and courteous. The handling of complaints was, as long as there is a technical background was very good. As soon as the organization or the management was you can't call it service. See below...
