We visit this hotel for 7 years again and again - at the time as a young couple and today with two kids and dog. We like especially the combination the beautiful and modern room, the excellent food and the spa area with super wellness offers. The personal character of the families- guided hotels does that you feel very comfortable. The freshly renovated swimming pool invites you to relaxing hours after a long day outdoors a. We can Mirabeau only recommend. read more

Very beautiful hotel with very good food. I was in the 'old' part, the however freshly renovated is. The room was sufficient large, the bathroom very nice and 'stylish' furnished (inclusive bathtub ). The service is very good, you feel very comfortable. In short: a very recommendable hotel. read more

perfect for skiing, hiking, SPA, food, drink and sleep! Modern, luxurious, quiet, fine class. Excellent kitchen. Good service, nice, informal team. Can be recommended to anyone traveling to Minneapolis. We have been taking over the age of 12 years skiing holidays in January and March in the Mirabeau and are anytime again extremely satisfied. read more

I liked the excellent gourmet kitchen, the nice view to Matterhorn, the big room, the very nice recreation/wellness area and the friendly stuff and friendly and helpful owner family. I also prefered the relativ calm location of the hotel ( very close to the station and center but not directly in the main street where it is often loud). read more

Once we found this hotel already 15 years a go, we always have stayed there. You feel in Mirabeau like home. We do not even consider any other hotel. Their packages are worth every CHF. The most important aspects for us when choosing a hotel is the food and the sauna facilities. In Mirabeau the food is excellent (the soups take your tongue) the soiree valaisienne is marvellous and the breakfast abondant. The new sauna section is comfortable and not too big. You really relax there. Hopefully also other people find this hotel and its personal atmosphere. We hardly can ... wait our next visit there. read more

everything in the attic suite was gorgeous, and clean and wonderful. I could have stayed a month!!! There was no coffee/tea machine, which would have been nice, but we just went to the bar to ask for coffee. mini bar was well stocked and not so expensive - I assumed Zermatt would have been expensive - but I was pleasantly surprised compared to other hotels .

  • Gastronomy
    5.5

we had half-board so breakfast and dinner served. Amazing food. Breakfast buffet catered to every craving. Croissants, cheese, fruit, cereal, different breads, dried fruit, meat, eggs, bacon - really good food, including real coffee (not the watered down american kind!) Dinner was a different menu each night with 4-5 different plates, including a salad buffet. It is nice to be able to make your own salad. We left a tip each night as the waiter/waitresses were really nice. Everything was beautiful and clean.

  • Service

Amazing - shows what a family run business has over a chain. Because it was our honeymoon they upgraded our suite, they were also very helpful with all our questions and were always there to answer.

  • Sport & Entertainment

Pool was nice. It is shared with the Ambassador Hotel, but was clean and long enough to do some laps! Free wireless in the rooms - nice touch, as most hotels charge extreme price for interent access. They also had a computer for those who didnt have a laptop.

Zermatt is well designed - once off the train there is a board with all the hotels, you just call and an electric car comes to pick you up to take you to the hotel - 200m away - no charge.

I've enjoyed my three days in this excellent hotel and was positively surprised, when I've got a room upgrade with beautiful view to the Matterhorn. Excellent 15 points Gault Millau restaurant with perfect service. Just one small complain: As I rather drink tea than coffee in the morning, I would have appreciated to get a choice of exclusive teas and not just a Lipton bag. For such kind of perfect hotel, this should be improved. I can highly recommend this hotel. read more

We would fully recommend the Hotel Mirabeau. We were greeted by a delightful young lady at reception and the staff throughout our stay could not have been more helpful. The food was superb . We enjoyed an excellent breakfast and each evening looked forward to a wonderful dinner ( not forgetting coffee and hazelnut cake in the garden in the afternoons!). Our room was large and spotlessly clean with a view of the Matterhorn. A perfect destination!! read more

This was our first visit to Zermatt and the Hotel Mirabeau alone would be enough to make us return. This is all-round the best ski hotel we have stayed in for quality of accommodation, food, location and service. The food in particular is excellent and of unstintingly high quality. read more

It is difficult to recommend this hotel highly enough. It has everything that one would expect from a top class hotel, but there are a number of areas where it sets itself apart. First (and perhaps foremost) the staff are delightful: highly efficient and professional whilst retaining an informality and good humour. We spent a week at the hotel with our two year old, and they made substantial efforts to ensure that we had everything we needed to keep the little fellow entertained. In addition, the food was first class, the sauna/steam rooms have to be experienced to be believed ..., the room was clean and spacious, the views of the Matterhorn were inspiring. It was a wonderful week, and we would be delighted to go back. read more

The hotel is divided into two buildings, with an underground corridor connecting them. We stayed inthe Alpine Residence, in a junior suite with a Matterhorn-view balcony. Our stay included breakfast. There is a computer terminal in the lower level with free internet access for guests. There were a few families with young children, but mostly middle-aged to older guests, with very few Americans. There are lots of public gathering areas, with a bar in the main bubilding, a wine lounge (very comfortable) in the residences building, and lots of outdoor chairs, sofas, and recliners. All are cushioned and supplied with ... blankets. read more

The room was large, clean, and airy, with windows and doors covering two full walls. Everything is sleek and modern, with beautiful wood everywhere. Beds were extremely comfortable. The bathroom was huge, with a sliding door separating the shower/toilet from the sink/tub area. Like the rest of the room, the bathroom was very sleek, with black vanity and beautiful natural-looking tile. The shower had both a stationary head and a hand-held one, which was a welcome change from other hotels. Towels were fluffy and kept warm on a towel warmer. The robes, as mentioned above, were too small for one of us. The balcony wrapped around a corner, so we had a view of the Matterhorn from one side and other mountains from the other. There were two very nice chairs with cushions.

We did not eat any dinners at the hotel restaurant, which is quite pricey but reportedly excellent. The Mirabeau's breakfast selections were far superior to any we had throughout Switzerland, with hot and cold choices. On a couple of days, we happened upon afternoon and evening snacks in the various lounge areas. These were fresh and excellent.

Hotel staff was excellent. Desk personnel were extremely helpful and friendly, willing to make reservations for us and assist us in every way. Everyone at the front desk spoke English. The only complaint we had was that the staff was initially unresponsive when we requested synthetic pillows and quilt because of allergies. When we called the desk at night, we were assured someone would be right up with the bedding, or that they would get right back to us. We did not hear back from that night, or get the bedding. After waiting up for awhile, we went to sleep using makeshift pillows. The next morning, after a second call, the bedding was promptly delivered. Laundry service was very fast: laundry promised within 24 hours was returned to us within 8.

The spa area, like the rooms, was immaculate. Located in the basement, it was anything but gloomy. There were the usual steam room and sauna, plus some areas that were unfamiliar to us. A relaxation room was the spa's best feature. It has soft leather, heated waterbeds with lavender-scented pillows, soft blenkets, and earphones with generally pleasing music. The lighting is quiet, and the room is spacious. On one rainy day, I even took a nap there. By far our favorite part of the hotel. There is a very nice pool, but we did not use it while we were there. My only complaint about the spa is that there should be an offering of large-sized robes. I did not ask for one at the desk, and do not know if there are any available, as there is no indication anywhere. The public computer with free internet access is located right outside the spa area.

The Mirabeau is located very close to the rail station, and a valet was waiting at the station when we arrived to transport us and our bags to the hotel. Its location at that end of town makes the Mirabeau a bit farther from the center of town than some other hotels, but the town is very small, and it is easy to walk anywhere. The train up to the Rothorn is nearby, as is the one to Gonergrat.

I cannot complement this hotel enough. From the moment we walked into the reception, the welcome we received already gave us an excellent 'vibe', and the hotel facilities and service continued to impress us throughout our stay. My parents stayed in the hotel building itself, and my brother and I stayed in the newly built Alpine Residence which is part of the hotel but in a separate buliding. The decor, the views from the balcony, the wonderful and classy wine lounge, the spa facilities and the food were all out of this world. However, the most impressive of all was ... the service which we received from the staff at all times. The owners and their daughter were available daily, and were always found socialising and chatting to their guests, as well as helping out with the reception work and in the bar and restaurants. The staff were by far the most pleasant, friendly and professional staff I have ever come across in any hotel, and this to me, is what made the stay at Hotel Mirabeau so pleasurable. I don't think I will ever find such a place again, and I can't wait to go back there during the winter ski season. read more

The rooms in the main hotel are more traditional in their decor, but are particularly large, comfortable with spacious balconies. My parents' room suited them perfectly and they spent most of their time sitting out on the balcony which afforded a wonderful view of the the Matterhorn itself. My brother and I stayed in the newly built alpine residence which was situated just across the hotel lawn. We absolutely loved the creams, browns and natural wood that made up the room, as well as the four-poster beds. The bathroom facilities were the best I have ever seen, and I must have spent 25 minutes every day in the shower! A spacious balcony which provided a full view of the Swiss Alpes, new towels twice daily, flat screen television, a little chocolate on the bedside table before going to bed, and they even folded up my night wear and placed it neatly under my pillow! If I was to recommend any particular room in the Hotel Mirabeau, I would strongly advise you to book a room in the Alpine Residence.

The French Cuisine Restaurant has had many impressive write ups in several food magazines, and for those who understand the process of 'starring' restaurants, I believe this to be the most highly regarded restaurant in Zermatt. Due to the cost of eating this quality of meal, we only managed one evening meal at the restaurant, however, I am not articulate enough to describe the wonedrful tastes which I experienced. It really is a must. There is another restaurant in the hotel which is available to all guests staying at 'half board', and as we were only paying for bed and breakfast, we did not get the chance to eat here. The breakfast however, awas served in the same restaurant, and there is nothing you could possibly want for breakfast which was not available. The fresh slices of melon and pineapple followed by crispy smoked bacon were my favourite. Again, the service at breakfast was 1st class.

This was the feature that impressed me most about the Hotel Mirabeau. The owners of the hotel and their daughter obviously lead by their very high example, and could be found at any time of the day. All staff behind the reception are particularly cheerful, friendly and helpful, and this was our first impression when we arrived. The rooms were cleaned in the morning, and fresh towels etc were provided twice daily. Bedclothes were turned back, little chocolates left by the bed, all these little things that make the service so special. The service at the bar and restaurant was equally high, and my particular favourite was the wine lounge situated on the ground floor of the alpine residence. We were invited for free wine and canapes in the wine lounge before going out to dinner, and this was an ideal opportunity to mix with other guests and with the owners. On August 1st (Swiss National Day)a special barbecue was available for all guests on the hotel lawn, with champagne and fireworks later on. For those who like to look after themselves, this hotel is perfect, with it's brand new swimming pool, several types of saunas & steam rooms, sunbed, and beauty treatments which include massage, facials etc. Every single person working at the Hotel Mirabeau was trained to the highest standard, and possessed the perfect mix of friendliness and professionalism.

A brand new swimming pool, 3 or 4 types of saunas and steam rooms, solarium, every kind of beauty treatment you could possibly imagine; these were all available to guests of the the hotel in the Hotel Wellness Centre. I cannot wait to go back there during the ski season so that I can book myself in for a massage after a hard day on the slopes. As for entertainment, the events organised were classy and sophisticated. Aperatif at 6pm in the wine lounge which included wine and canapes; traditional swiss barbecue, champagne and fireworks on the lawn on Swiss National Day. It suited us perfectly as we do not have any children, however, if you need more lively entertainment for adults or children you might need to request something specific.

As Zermatt is a car free town, most people walk everywhere, which is such a nice change from our heavily polluted towns in the UK. We arrived in Zermatt by train, and were very pleased to learn that the Hotel Mirabeau is situated only 3 minutes walk away from the station, therefore, carrying heavy bags, cases and skis to the Hotel was not a problem. However, if anyone finds that they simply cannot walk that far with heavy bags, there is a free taxi at the hotel, which runs on electric, which will pick you up from the station. The hotel is situated at the lower end of the main street, just out of ear-shot of the busy shops, restaurants and bars. Just two minutes up from the hotel you will find yourself in the middle of a vibrant and energetic town, however, if you like your sleep, the location of the Hotel Mirabeau means that you will not be kept awake by any noise.
