Nice and small hotel, very friendly staff, very professional front desk. Because there is a coral reef, there were high waves and you have to swim a few meters at the sea long walk. Good location, a lot of shops and restaurants nearby. International guests, also a few russians but not at all negative anything else. Our favorite was, that - in comparison to other hotels which we have seen-in the citrus everything is open and there is no wall between beach and hotel. And alone the sunsets are worth a trip! read more

We know this hotel since about 15 years. Before 2 years changed the owner and the hotel has been completely renovated and two floors added. As far as you a deluxe room bay, has the citrus to the two best hotels in hikkaduwa (the other is more expensive). The new management cares a lot about the guests and improvements to be desired. In some reviews described weekend-rioting by local groups is spared. That is probably connected from the utilization of the hotel from. Guest structure: mostly older guests, in our stay we had about 1/3 russian, but hardly any negative ... noticeable. read more

    The deluxe -rooms are very big and free from mold. Very nice ocean view with amazing sunsets. The furnishing is new and is apart from too few storage space in the closets hardly any wishes open. Free safe, a flat-screen tv, minibar, kettle, hair dryer in the bathroom. Tip: if you the mini bar simply dispel and the content there is, you can for their own drinks, without that there are problems. The air conditioning can be easily regulate and when the blower on stage 1, it is not too noisy. The mattresses were rather soft, who has back problems, could be as unpleasant feel. In the deluxe rooms, the door to the side of the road, however from the busy galle road was a lot of noise ( hupende buses etc.). Who has an easy sleep, should urgently bring earplugs. The standard -rooms are quiet, but small and not quite as well maintained.

    Breakfast and dinner are good and rich with wide choice. Hygienic flawless. The actually completely unnecessary attempt, west to cook, is naturally sometimes wrong. However luckily there was each evening beside the theme buffet (Italy, english, mexican etc.) Also a wide choice local curry dishes, the really recommendable are. The price of drinks for hotel standards moderate, in simple beach bars is often higher prices. Tip : for dinner you can also the tables by the pool set, it is clearly more relaxing than in the covered and somewhat noisy restaurant.

    The complete staff is very friendly and tried hard, one could in english and sometimes also in german communicate well. The cleaning of the rooms works for the relationship of price to the country very good. Initially is the cleaning of the rooms sometimes a bit late (after 2:00 p. m.). But a friendly note to the management was sufficient, in order to the problem to solve. Flowers on the bed, as in the past, there is unfortunately not more.

    The swimming pool is cleaned daily, chairs are abundant, the towels come from the dryer and smell pleasant fresh. Apart from a folklore show on sunday evening has (luckily) no entertainment. But live music during dinner, the on the duration a bit annoying.

    Transfer from the airport by bus around 3 to 4 hour. It should soon be better, if the new motorway to to the airport goes. The hotel was pleasant on the edge of town from hikkaduwa. The center is on foot in around 10 to 15 minutes walking distance. For swimming one goes about 10 minutes to the left the beach down, but be careful, the surf is very high. For snorkelling is the hikkaduwa reef (to the right at the beach down, on Hotel Coral sands ) really recommendable, here you can see very many and also large fish, and tame sea turtles, with algae feed leave. Night life you should not expect too much, the best is in the evening in the 'top secret' what los (about 15 minutes to the left at the beach down). Very moderate drink prices (large arrack 170 rupee ), the music goes but unfortunately rather direction techno (formerly there reggä ).

The hotel is in hikkaduwa in my opinion one of the best. European standard, you don't expect, but outside europe not be surprising! We were in the renovated rooms and it was still everything okay. The bathroom was not more so chic, but the room was big enough and the beds were very comfortable. Towels and bed linen was always clean, against some tip was especially good cleared up and one made clean. The view was unique, as we were right on the sea looked and the sound of the waves always factor was. The road on the other side ... you could hardly hear it. At night is anyway hardly traffic during the day and you could one or another horn notice, but not intrusive. The staff were very friendly and eager to help. So friendly waiters i have never experienced before, not in Karibik or in Thailand. The friendliness hung not of tips off. The pool is from one to 2.5 meters deep and not, as in previous contributions mentioned, too small. Of course you can't with the pool landscapes of egypt or Turkey compare. For holiday by the pool that country would be much too unfortunate. As many speakers have mentioned, is the beach right, if one the stairs down, not for swimming adequate. The is however not problematic, since either 5 minutes to the left the beach (waves for brave swimmers and enthusiastic surfer) on ' reefend' begins ( reefend surfschool ) or a few steps to the right a small, quiet bathing area is available, in which you many colorful fish can. Even further to the right (5 minutes), a larger, quieter beach. Often we met turtles. The food in the restaurant is reasonable and the cooks are very hard. Chicken tasted always good. The offered fruits and the desserts were fantastic. In addition there was mostly fresh juice, the not like in other hotels only from concentrate touched. So for example on some days fresh maracujasaft, a dream! The breakfast is varied and ranged from einiheimischem curry to english breakfast. Excursions could be very good with the locals book, for example with the driver directly in front of the hotel with a large, white bus. We have very good experiences with the tuktuk and bus drivers there. On the road there are many shops, so that makes for a nice evening stroll to go can. The sales assistants are also not intrusive and nerves with a 'no' not further. The people are however always very interested, where it is, how long you stay, where you were and how to get it in their country will take place. In the evening it is worth to ' mambos' to go, this is a bar directly at the beach, where especially saturday is busy. The cocktails are very recommendable. For children under 12 years i think, is Sri Lanka definitely not adequate. The shuttle from the airport is four hours and the beach is through the waves not for small children adequate. There is also on excursions lots to see, through the traffic the stretch but mostly a bit of a hassle. I would directly book the hotel again and will definitely again holiday in Sri Lanka make. Recommendable hotel, good service, friendliness of the staff and some waiters in the restaurant speak and understand something german. Beach directly at the hotel for swimming not suitable-but after approximately 500 meters walk is a beautiful bay. In the deluxe rooms (4. floor) are the front doors to the busy street after galle and therefore is the street noise audible. The hotel reagirte during our stay with the installation of reinforced doors. Lachbild tv in the room - negative no supply of the german wave. Last third of our stay predominantly russian-speaking. The local care for Neckermann, bucher, th. Cook ... was very concerned all requests to solve-in our travels so unique and worth mentioning! Over this we had for 95 Euro per person Jeep Safari in the national park udawalawe booked. This trip was totally overpriced-we then took our trips very cheap local tuk-tuk driver, partly also speak german (recommended means gram upalie, to be met in the approximately 500 meters from farm-house). But, that it is a 3.5 star hotel is, you can not complain at all. And you should also consider, that a relative poor country, but nevertheless relatively expensive when booking of excursions. The hotel is on a very busy street. Who has an easy sleep, should in any case take your earplugs. The staff are very friendly and really always make an effort, problem as quickly as possible to fix it. Orders at lunchtime in the restaurant you have a bit more time to the food comes. As a guest receives one every day one l bottle of ... water free of charge in the room. Opposite the hotel is a bigger supermarket, where one can buy favorably, of drinks, ice, various foodstuffs to drogerieartikeln. We have several excursions done. Highly recommend is a short trip in the tsunami museum, mangrovenbootsfahrt, 2 day trip to kandy. ' days must be, as one for a very long time about 4 hours after kandy drives. Cheap if you shop want, then you should by train ( 60 rupees 2. class) after galle drive. Where you can a lot cheap shopping. From yala nationalpark we were rather disappointed. 3 hours autfahrt to yala, 4 hours Jeep Safari and a few animals seen, since the park is extremely large and one must already have luck must, around leopards or crocodiles to see. Beware of small train drivers! Always on the drive persistent the price negotiate. In front of the hotel there was daily the same man. His name is' brämi' or similar. He should not trust. Too expensive and other hotel guests were he ripped off. More hotel guests booked through the beach boys a trip and a prepayment of 40 €transacted. But the day of the trip is not at the meeting point appeared and the money was gone. We were very satisfied overall with the hotel! read more

Probably is the rating with the allocated rooms. We had luck with our (314): it totally damp, very dirty bathroom and to top it off, moldy and full of mold covered pillows and mattress covers (see photo). That was actually the worst, which we ever in a hotel experienced. After complaint, was a spare room in the other building was to assigned. That would actually be very pleasant been, if the noise not so great to hear would be. For all, who like in the morning around 5:00 from tuktuklärm, the deafening horns of the penalty be woken up ..., a good alternative. (we do not understand, why no intermediate doors are used, the noise to depreciate). So, now for the positives the staff were in all areas really friendly, always cheerful and courteous. The food was excellent and diverse. The pool is nice, unfortunately, there was hardly any beach and no bathing possibility in the sea. You must already walk a bit. What we also the one negative was, was the wi-fi access, the mostly did not work and if in a 2 meter ² large closet, in which each the mails of the neighbors could read. For the size of the hotel not adequate or there should be no mention in the hotel description find. read more

The hotel is I believe one of the best hotels in hikkaduwa, the rooms are very clean. I'have never seen such a friendly staff and I am already very much traveled. The staff have a positive character and are always very relaxed, even the largest stress. The food was amazing! Both international, as well as indian cuisine are offered daily. The chef is also a tv star to be, once a cooking show right at the hotel rotated. That says a lot about the kitchen of the hotel from, in positive sense, of course. To the bathing beach you have ... a few minutes walk, as it is because of the corals was not possible, at the hotel beach to swim, is however a very short walk. Otherwise there are lots of excursions right at the hotel to book. All in all it was really a very lovely vacation in the hotel citrus, which I absolutely recommend can. read more

The hotel is directly at the beach, but without direct access to the sea. The through road in front of the hotel is in the rooms on the seaside not to hear. The guests arrived at the end of our vacation mostly from eastern european countries and this made itself massively in the volume, as well as in the ess and manners noticeable. Even the very friendly and accommodating staff I had extreme trouble! The rooms in the main building were large and well maintained and all have a small balcony from the sea and the abensonne wonderful to enjoy ... (room number 310). The bathroom is large and getting a bit old. The living room is sufficient closets and safe equipped. The luxury guest rooms in the adjacent building are beautiful, but the eingangstüre goes to the street and the noise is from 06:00 A. M. in the morning not to be missed! The bathroom here is very small and in the living room are no closets for clothes available. read more

    Clean, large and fully equipped with air-conditioning, kettle, safe, telephone, mini bar, tv, balcony and large shower in the bathroom! Everything getting quite old, but not run-down, but really reasonable! Because the hotel about 200 meters away from the sea is, the rooms are all a bit damp and smell accordingly, but it is not disturbing, but simply cannot be avoided!

    The restaurant, which is located in the outdoor area is, is huge and fully covered with wonderful view of the sea. In the subsequent green area, we could a wonderful candllightdinner enjoy! The dishes were all fresh and beautifully arranged. There is both a european as well as an asian food corner. In our 3 weeks we had 2 a fresh seafood platter, with large prawns, lobster, kings praws, fresh locals fish and crabs, which to our taste together was. In the drinks is a tip and on the whole staffmannschaft distributed. The tables and the plates were always quickly cleared and cleaned. The slightly small bar is also recommendable!

    The staff is definitely friendly, accommodating and helpful. It is always English spoken. And complaints is soon solution has been found. The room was always fresh and clean and the laundry in the house work smart.

    There was every evening live music, which wonderful unobtrusive suit. During the day there were no animation, which we found very relaxing found. Towels there were enough free at the pool boy and there were enough chairs. Only the shade-giving trees were for lunch very desired! In the open hotel lobby there is free wi-fi-access.

    The hotel lies in a very well maintained green complex with beautiful pool, which cleaned daily is. On the complex it is extremely quiet and the staff worries about every wish! For swimming in the sea you should either left or right from the hotel approximately 5 to 10 minutes for a wonderful sand-and surfing beach walk. With citrus in hikkaduwa we have very relaxing vacation had. ( September 2012 ) very friendly and helpful staff, good, varied food. Although we in the monsoon were there, were the temperatures between 26 and 32 C °. Rains very often and hard. In the town are not very many shops given also not in the nearby city of Galle. Bile but a very nice Fortress of the Dutch built. Definitely the 3-day tour in the south to book. It is a safari tour the circa 300 Euro but it costs is very recommendable. Baden in the sea is somewhat ... difficult because of the very high waves and nature reef and coral. Despite all, it was very relaxing. read more

The hotel was 2011 completely renovated and the hotel chain 'citrus leisure' overextended. The hotel is all very well maintained, has approximately 60 rooms, a pool with enough chairs ( loungers, cushions and towels were free of charge ), a restaurant, a cocktail bar, wi-fi there are in the lobby free (works well!). The restaurant is to all sides to be desired, so you great food on the water window can. Also the lobby allows a view of the pool area and beach behind it. read more

    The rooms we found it great! Very spacious, clean, neat furnished, furniture, mattresses etc. Very new, with a balcony included chairs and table, flatscreen tv on the wall ( about 10 English channels ), mini bar, telephone, safe, kettle with teas and coffee, clean bath included hair dryer, great shower with adjustable shower head, also soap, shampoo etc. There was always from the hotel. Outlets in the rooms the citrus - hotels are 'european' and need no adapter! We had a technical problem in our first room, what we immediately a move in a ' superior - room' offered, the spacious was, otherwise but also comfortable as the ' standard - room'. The cleaning worked absolutely great and thoroughly, per room there was daily a bottle of water (1 liter) free of charge.

    We really liked the food! In the morning, there was always a rich ' american breakfast'. Different types of bread, rolls and toast, cheese and sausage, fresh tomato, cucumber, different marmelade, cereal, yoghurt, fresh fruits, in addition one could fresh omelets, mirror- / scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, or french toast, prepared. Then there was even curry and singhalesische breakfast items. Evenings there were changing theme buffet. Time it was Italian ( pizza, different pasta), time mongolian (with showcooking from mongolian restaurants knows), time barbecue (with different meat and fresh seafood from the grill). Additionally always a wide selection of curry and rice. Also the dessert area was with fresh fruit, different cakes, tiramisu, puddings etc. Always very tasty! The beverage prices were relatively 'european', a bottle of beer (500 milliliter) costs circa 2,50 Euro, Fanta, Cola etc. About 2€, cocktails from 3€, a bottle of water or soda 1 euros. With cocktails and longdrinks were however branded spirits used ( Smirnoff, Bacardi etc.).

    All of the staff at the hotel, from the reception over the waiters, chefs to the housekeepers, is just absolutely accommodating, friendly, competent and ready to help, and the without tips or other 'bribes'! The waiters and chefs throw everything tip generally in a big money, where then afterwards everything fair share. One must therefore not a waiter especially 'grease', all were really absolutely fast, reliable and friendly! Also the cleaning crew, the can also a few flowers in the room leave. The hotel reception helped us with all of our questions very great help. The complete staff speaks perfect English.

    The pool captivates by its gorgeous area, so that you the pool on the open ocean hinausblickt. The pool was regularly cleaned, water samples were taken, it was absolutely clean and the water very pleasant! An animation there was (which we very pleased) not. Evenings for the food but always a band or solomusiker, the for a pleasant atmosphere at the cocktail bar next to the restaurant have ensured.

    The hotel is ( as all city hotels in the south sri lanka) on the 'bile road', the main street the capital Colombo in the biggest city of the south, galle, leads. It is located relatively central in hikkaduwa, train station, market etc. Are all more than reachable on foot. Restaurants, shops, internet cafes and so on are in the immediate vicinity ( partly. Direct on the other side of the street). On the other side is right the beach and the dreamlike indian ocean. Directly in front of the hotel is a coral reef, which made swimming somewhat difficult, however you go 20 meters to the right or left and could easily into the water!

Really beautiful hotel! You feel really good. Breakfast is super, leaves nothing to be desired. Pool is clean! Direct sea view! Unfortunately you can not directly at the hotel beach baden, but that doesn't matter, a bit runs does good. Value for money is very good. Evening agenda! Hikkaduwa is a beautiful village with many restaurants, shops... Good excursions. Nice people... read more

I'm sending you a nice pool ( large enough for swimming, deep enough hineinzuspringen ) and enough chairs, the pool exactly distribute, as the grasfläche next to it. We were there with half board. The guests are very international with a preponderance of local and indians (?) at the weekend. Of families to couples are all in almost all age categories available with a tendency to younger audience (30 years; so no retired) In comparison to some other buildings ... in the surroundings the hotel is solidly built and kept the tsunami 2004 without; merely the kitchen on the ground floor was flooded. read more

    Room... The was such a thing... We had accidentally (this is a bad job with the telephone reservation (after it electronically problem and we from the travel agent have been contacted) to owe a 'budget' room booked. Nevertheless it was large (almost a kind of mini-duplex) and clean. Merely a little dark due to the construction ( big balcony was about one and a half meters higher than the rest from the room). Furthermore it was damp (you smell but it was as a part of). However tu I difficult to judge, whether a specific problem from this room was or a fundamental problem of strandhotel in this area the world... Air conditioning in the constant operation has the problem a little relaxed. Tv was available but only indian channels, as well as English. However I doubt, that it in this area is there any German program returns. Safe was free available and sufficiently large, a extensive fotosuarüstung velvet laptop to accommodate. We didn't use the mini bar. But there was daily a fresh bottle of water, as well as tea as much as you want (sackerl are available)

    There is 1 main restaurant for breakfast ( lunch? I know not at all, whether full board in this hotel were ), dinner; each of the buffet. You sit under one roof, apart from that there is however after 3 sides fully open. Is however the local temperature not a problem. Breakfast is good and sufficient selection. Dinner also. There are always several pub curryvariationen to the apart from that reasonably european accented buffet. This is one of the 2 points of criticism, I have; I would have liked a little more pub variations desired. Complaint 2 concerns the good successful theme nights, the ace from time to time returns. Since there will be no buffet returns, are unnecessary long queues - as the logistics simply not; it is partly freshly cooked. That cannot work. Ah yes... And beef I would avoid. That is however no single phenomenon from the hotel citrus, but spread over very Sri Lanka. The stuff is tough as leather - either it is simply not (cook) or the source material is useless; the is however no point of criticism, but I think - amusing marginal ;-) Price are moderate

    The hotel is as three star hotel run. Purely from the staff it needs no comparison to go with a ( pub) four star hotel. All speak several languages, merely German is rarity. With English however no topic. Cleaning of the room was done well. Over other I can for lack of use say anything

    I can at this point only the pool evaluate, because an animation convenient not available was - apart from occasional live music in the evening and a show, that we might experience (the not at all bad was). The pool is nothing fancy however therefor functional and clean. Beach: see above in my description. Loungers there were always enough (free ) available. Only under circumstances not by the pool - at the latest grass is the however not a problem. Thanks to trees and palm trees is also no schattenmangel Internet ( wi-fi) is available but sometimes is the hardware apparently overburdened... The wi-fi antenna has a moderate range ( next to the reception is the best front desk) and obviously (here only it-affine people read more) the ip lease-duration too long set, which means, that you now and then no ip assigned gets. Manual attitude of the ip settings helps here sometimes. Or you can the front desk to restart the routers persuade :-)

    The hotel is directly at the beach. This is however somewhat useless. By the more (than on the mediterranean) strong tide you can beach chairs. Since the sandy beach itself just 5 meters wide, to the water starts. Really bathe can one there but not. It is a short walk either at the beach or over the street - it is far better to swim ( as long as the waves are not too high) and beach chairs. Furthermore you can then also dealing with tame became riesenmeeresschildkröten make, the there from the locals regularly feed leave. As a tourist the mit in little luck, usually want the locals (for a little money-nona) at the hands... The hotel lies directly in the village of hikkaduwa, if not in the center; to get there it is 5 to 10 minutes hike. The ( only?) airport in kolombo is about kilometers away what very few sounds however because of the traffic conditions in Sri Lanka quite a drive from 4 hours may mean ( at night it is about one and a half - 2 hours). Excursions there are-as on the whole island infinite.

In any case the hotel is recommendable. With the cleanliness and the service we were very satisfied. The beach right on the hotel not suitable for swimming. You must be approximately 300 to 400 meters to the right or left Go. Especially on the left is the beach just amazing. On this side there are also various Beach bars with good and reasonably priced Offered. Animation and sporting activities there are in this hotel not. The hotel is centrally located and offers lots of space and space. It is a new hotel and has everything, what one wished. It is clean and also the staff are always hard and helpful. In the rooms is everything available, what is needed, and also the bathroom leaves modern Optics to. The rooms offer a beautiful atmosphere. We only the breakfast used, the however very varied was. The' pool snack' was also delicious and the buffets in the evening looked very inviting. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The room service look at several times on the day ... and everything is clean without great' additional fees' active to have. read more

We have 2 weeks the hotel Citrus can enjoy and we can only recommend it... We felt really great felt. Tip about 800 meters away from the hotel there was the beach bar (top secret) here you can free the couches with canopy use, as well as cheap cocktails slurp...
