The building has a beautiful and calm location and the atmosphere is exceptionally.
Transportation to and from the hotel of the restaurant is extremely poor - a great shame. We have therefore during our entire stay only once in the beautiful restaurant to evening ate.
The breakfast is ok.
The lift to the rooms during the whole stay defect. For disabled guests would be the access to their rooms therefore only very hard have been possible.
The pool area is well-kept and huge.
We had a very inexpensive offer for this house.
A rental car is in any case urgently ... recommendable. read more

We had booked a suite; the rooms was huge with 2 balcony. Most impressive we found the super nice location with a large garden and brilliant kitchen and the perfect service of the restaurant.
The hotel lies however somewhat off the beaten track, but with rental car not a problem represents. All together we would this hotel definitely further-recommended and also again. read more

For a five star hotel absolutely bad. Partly the consumption of the food was not possible. Musty Lasagna, chicken drumstick. No heating bloody of the restaurant 12-14 degrees for room temperature. Bad, minimalist always the same' breakfast buffet' Instant something (should coffee his)
the room and the bathroom had significant exposure wear but they were clean so reasonable. New year's Eve, we were taken to a hotel to watch fireworks drivers to Funchal. He appeared to return a little late in the day, obviously inebriated to strong. We and a other couple of the transport and a taxi. I had ... a nearby service police's attention to this matter made (he spoke English). He said, he could do nothing about it, we should manager inform the hotel. The done, we were given the 30 euros for the taxi and the driver drives furthermore guests. read more

We were there at the end of November in the hotel, there were only three rooms occupied. The hotel was literally on 'flame' why. In the room even though we got a small electrical heating, so it was in the room reasonably warm. However, it was freezing in the rest of the hotel. When we ate in the hotel, we had to wear our jackets. The carpaccio were still frozen, so room temperature. The breakfast was brought to our room, because it was in the dining room was just too cold. If the load is too small, you will need ... to close the hotel. But its guests a stay screening is not the solution. The drive was also very adventurous. The hotel is very far off the beaten path. In the village you must be very winding and narrow road traffic. read more

Very nice relatively new hotel (Baujah 2003). Very quiet and secluded. The hotel is located about 800m above sea level on. You will need about .20 minute walk to the main road (highway). The new highway is already almost ready, so that the drive between highway and about 1/3 of the time to be reduced. read more

The main building seems to be an old manor house and is located along with modern Installation for beds and the also restaurant and grown indoor pool in the middle a large, very beautiful garden. The alone is already worth, extensively on foot. He offers a sun terrace with a swimming pool small also a bar row beautiful Squares and places to sit, where you with a book and a glass of wine comfortable power.
the main building did not appear to be too long refurbished. But not without the beautiful Wooden floors and the charm earlier for decades. In ... the annex with rooms it is clearly stated more modern to, the restaurant seemed a bit sterile. From the rooms in the indoor pool or restaurant leads by course. This could perhaps a, twice more often being brushed aside. And also the great garden lose something, because for example due to the many leaves and branches is located.
the rooms (we were in the new Cultivation) were reasonable, in the beds we had a good night's sleep.
I had a bit of the impression, that the staff not keep up with the maintenance.
but apart from that: a very beautiful House.
oh yes: the hotel lies approximately 700 meters above the sea. In other words, there is always a little cooler than 'down' this altitude overcomes you, if you from the ocean to the hotel. The drive is on Madeira-typically small lane up the hill. read more

Five stars are three too much, in spite of the good location

Good Location. By car to reach long-drawn-out. The barking and the tap close call in the morning and in the evening from the neighborhood, a little affected the idyll. Due to the seclusion we had booked half-board. However, the dinner (menu with half-board) was rather Spartan and repeated every three days. A la carte was only for guests with perseverance with diet or intentions to be recommended. The staff is overstrained, if more than five tables were occupied. The ate breakfast was for me as a fan cornflakesbuffet and lovers of the English breakfast and fresh fruit and juices, but ... okay. The tablecloths and napkins should be replaced with such without holes. Cleanliness in all areas was a large drawback. Stains on the tablecloths, dead lizards in the hallways, there are at least two days. The carpets in the rooms have striking spots. The bathroom was not cleaned properly every day. However, the towels were changed daily and towels, even if you don't accommodated the request, went to changing hands to put them on the floor. The wellness area (pool, fitness) was in good order, but it was not used by US taken. The bar (bar Henrys) was never open, the bar by the pool mostly not. All in all, the staff was not well organized (or was it?). The lack of cleanliness and the rather bland and slowly enough to justify horrible dinner (also on Madeira) No five stars. Here the management should urgently help or a few stars in. read more

The hotel is in the main building in a former Quinta (=Villa) with adjoining "new building". The lodge buildings are situated in the hotel, large, which was located garden. Its own fruit and vegetable garden!! (You could taste food) booked with breakfast and evening three went there twice. Breakfast was ok, although quite monotonuous (little variation) and very limited selection. But something of everything (fried eggs or scrambled eggs, bacon, baked beans, cereals, breads, rolls, croissants, jam - partly made! - etc. Absolute pluspoint: Always fresh fruit and fresh juices! Show dinner: something of everything. Small but well thought-out of ... choice. Food ok. The hotel has on the whole a very reasonable condition. Just the cleanliness in some areas could be better; down corners. We had the impression that we also rather in the post season, there were as the hotel was pretty weak frequented. Nevertheless always and everywhere not intrusive staff. "Guest mix under the age of; German, Dutch, British. Although all obviously hikers, or outdoor activists. Mostly couples. Compared to some other reviews you can't forget the cost: in the value for money I would area was well Resettlement. read more

A quiet hotel for people who want to relax. After a busy day wandering around wait pool, jacuzzi and steam bath, or you could just few steps in the nicely designed historic Park. The hotel was at the time of our holiday exclusively from middle-aged couples (mostly from Germany) visited on weekends, to which a few Portuguese after nightfall. The restaurant was good, the service sometimes a little forgetful, but always friendly. Delicious breakfast buffet! The only downside: The long and adventurous Driving directions via steep streets makes it will not be the ideal location for Madeira. Nevertheless, I would ... stay here again in a heartbeat - especially after I want to the tourist ghettos seen from Funchal. read more

Nice hotel location in Camara de Lobos, approx. 25 km to the west of Funchal. Outside of the large hotel area. The hotel is really small, merely approx. 50 rooms, some of them are suites. Old main building with new construction (2003). Spacious hotel location with everything, what one needs for enjoyment. Super kind personnel. read more
