I can't understand why all this hotel complain about. It is although already somewhat older however the rooms are massive and also the bathroom with jacuzzi in the standard room (bath tub with jacuzzi function ) the staff is always friendly and gives great atmosphere even if you not much understands. You got along with english relatively well. The guest relations manager speaks 7 languages including german and all problems solved immediately, or it is all tried to the problem to solve. I myself can really recommend the hotel. I will definitely during the next caracas stay book this hotel ... again. read more

Stayed in an apartment (the apartment towers are separate to the main building), these include a basic kitchenette which can be equipped on request to reception (providing a deposit). In general, while the hotel and apartments are comfortable, they are not well-maintained. Problems that can occur include lift service, internet (apartments need a modem, which may not be immediately available and don't work well, throughput is 100-200kb/s downlink), air-conditioning, etc. Guests are mostly business people, well-off tourists, and prominent guests including state visitors to Venezuela as well as rock groups. Security is increased substantially for state visits, though it's always ... friendly. Many military / political groups seem to be billeted at the hotel for long periods as well. read more

Apartments are from 1-3 bedrooms, reasonably spacious, some floors have been renovated and are in better condition than others. They generally include 2 TVs, kitchenette and 1-2 bathrooms. Air conditioning is standard. No balconies, but big flower-pots outside the windows. A safe is included. Cleanliness is iffy.

  • Gastronomy
    5.0

Arrangement included breakfast buffet: quite good, lots of variety, included some local dishes as well as fresh fruit and juices. The hotel bar is expensive, it's better to walk a few metres to one of the bars or restaurants in the adjoining shopping centre. The hotel bar has WiFi open to all (sometimes not working).

  • Service
    2.0

In general the staff seem demotivated, disorganized, friendly enough but not able to follow-up on requests. Room cleaning so-so, often seeming to just go through the motions. Laundry service is good, needs to be requested by phone, but extra laundry bags and forms can be requested to save time if the service is needed more than once. Hotel taxis good, safe, though not cheap. There is a travel agency in the basement (Candes), but seemed unable to organize any tours. There is a price-list for trips with the hotel taxi at the main door.

Fitness studio well maintained, pool area very nice though pool extremely over-chlorinated.

  • Location

Though close to the centre (one metro stop from Plaza Venezuela), the area around the hotel (Sabana Grande) has a reputation for being dangerous after 9-10pm. Hotel gates close at approx. 9pm, and only guests are allowed in without registering first at reception. No convenient supermarkets close by, only chance to make basic purchases is at Farmatodo. The El Recreo shopping centre is directly connected to the hotel (again, the connecting passageways are closed after 9pm), this has restaurants, boutiques, pharmacy, hairdresser, and a cinema. The Citibank ATM is useful for foreign visitors and takes a "normal" PIN, i.e. doesn't ask for extra digits. Withdrawals are at the official exchange rate of course.
