A cycling holiday based at S'Illot, East Mallorca

The Hotel Mariant was rated a 3 star hotel. There were some 200 rooms at a rough count - accurate details can be found from the hotel website. Half the rooms faced out onto an open area that was designated an early civilisation settlement and so gave a good outlook. if you were on the opposite side however, you would look out over more apartments and balconies. This was the shady side as well so it would not be much fun relaxing on your balcony. Our room, was on the sunny, open side, on the second of four floors.The ... room was quite adequate and was cleaned every day. The room tv was an old one, a 17inch model, tucked up high in the corner with only BBC World News as an english speaking channel. Our board was All Inclusive which was a new experience for us and worked out fine particularly when you could have almost any dtrink you wanted between 10am and 11pm. As it was a 3 star hotel, I was expecting the food to be ok. In fact it was excellent with a wide choice at both breakfast, lunch and dinner. At lunch and dinner there wetre always a selection of salads, 2 choices of fish and maybe 3 choices of meat (rabbit casserole, pork in a cream sauce and say chicken in a batter(. there was also a pasta and sauce dish and an adequate selection of fruit or sweets. Our holiday was booked as a CYCLING HOLIDAY through an English company using a German bike tour company. Although we were the only cyclists that week (first week of October), the majority of the guests were German simply because the hotel was used by numerous German tour companies. It did not really worry us most of the staff, although Spanish, spoke a smattering of English. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Mostly the guests were of the "mature" age and looked as if they spent most of the day in the sun. There were a few younger couples - we were in the 65 age range but spent every day bar one, out on a cycle ride either inland or along the coast. We would leave about 10am on a 45 km ride, get back about 4pm, have a cold drink then walk down to the lovely (but crowded) sandy beach (5 minutes walk away) for a swim. The sea was warm and clear - lovely. As I said, we went the first week of October and the area had a very nice friendly atmosphere - I am sure it could be somewhat different in August!! read more

    I have made all my comments about the room under the heading "the hotel in general" - not realising thetre was a separate section for everything! There was air conditioning - no fridge and you were informed not to take drinks from the bar up to your room. We therefore bought some bottled water to use in the room. A safe was an extra (2.5 euros per day) and was located down in reception. I am sure the rules about taking drinks up to their rooms have come about as a result of people taking advantage of the facilities and causing inconvenience to other clients.

    The hotel was an hours drive from the airport. It was a 2 minute walk to the Promenade and 5 minutes to one of two beaches. We were booked on a cycling holiday so each day we went out. There were details of excursions ftrom the hotel but it was all in German. However, all you had to do was to walk down to the Promenade and thetre cwere shops, restaurants, various outlets organising horse rides, jeep rides, sea trips etc.

Hello all together, there is much about the mariant gequakt, but for one week beach vacation everything was OK. The staff were very friendly, food was good and plentiful and the room need we for sleeping and not to dirt to find. For party and Ballermann tourist not really suitable. read more

We were in the neighboring house, had an apartment with a view of the sea, which we enjoyed very much. The food was very tasty and varied, lunch as evenings always several meat and fish dishes. We here felt really good, the proximity to the beach the right or to the left of the hotel was very pleasant, also the long promenade to stroll we enjoyed very much. It was everything clean and tidy. The mariant hotel is a typical star hotel. Planty righdy many rooms. Generally the hotel is (i speak from the main building, in the adjoining building were not we) relatively clean and inviting, for three stars in any case acceptable. You can all-inclusive or half-board, i believe. The hotel we have with way. De as a last-minute trip and we were in october there and Hotel Mariant turned out to be extremely rentnerfreundlich. There were hardly any young people in the hotel (old couples and very few families with children and still less couples as we ), the mood was ... always quite verkatert and there were no animation (at 2 days there was a dj and played almost always the same songs, mainly german pop, oldies and of course Abba.). The hotel was but almost in german hands (many east germans). read more

    The room was for three stars acceptable, relatively clean (one saw in the bath small signs of dirt, is however not too bad ), well equipped and you also had a small tv (with RTL even \u263a ). In the main building there was an airco in every room. The room was however a bit cramped (i am talking about the double room, we had to the luggages under the sofa push) and lots of other extremely clairaudient. You heard everything, what the neighbours said/made. We had often the feeling, the walls are made of cardboard... Ear plugs are recommendable! \u263a the balcony was very small and you could easily in the privacy of the neighbors penetration. A mini bar there was not, a safe cost 20 Euro.

    There was at any time of the day a buffet, in the overall flavor and scope a star hotel is. The choice was okay, but not outstanding, it was edible, but just a few things were really good and we have often had the impression, the some food from the previous day warm was. Moreover, there were the dishes at the buffet only lukewarm, so you, as soon as you get to your place, the food only cold 'enjoy' could. There was soft drinks, beer and 3 wines as a self-service drink. Some tasted just disgusting, only the water (with carbonic acid), 7 up, Pepsi, the beer and the wines you could drink. There was a bar next to of the lobby, in the soft drinks and some cocktails for offer gave, these were of the quality it was not outstanding, the 'right' cocktails (Pina colada, coco loco ) you had to pay (3.90). Even if you really good, all inclusive for me something else. Furthermore, there was actually only until 22:30 o'clock what to drink at the bar, however, when we were there, you came to meet us and we were allowed until 23 o'clock what order, but still not acceptable. From 23 o'clock you got so despite universe inclusive nothing more to drink, which i thought was very unpleasant thought.

    The staff were more or less (un) friendly. The bar staff was always nice over, while the friendliness at the reception often much to be desired left (there are only a really positive exception). Clearly, they were helpful, but a friendly impression there was as mentioned only a lady. Foreign language skills are available, some speak perfect german, other broken, some only speak spanish, so could certainly be better. The cleaning of the rooms went somewhat badly fast, was but sufficient.

    The pool was quite small, however therefor clean. The shower was as good as not working and the most funny, but not really for cleaning help. \u263a the entertainment and the kids club there were not (at least not in october), for sport offers there were billiards (costs 1 Euro) and a ping-pong table on the children's playground opposite. Furthermore, there was pinball and slot machines (but were already quite old), and internet access, the but was a little expensive. Evenings there was no entertainment, only on tuesdays and saturdays a dj past, the same songs played (more or less, mainly oldies and hits, only little modern). During the day there was the same play list (oldies, Abba-medley, hit, then 100 times Abba medley), the from the speakers by the pool dudelte, no entertainment. The beaches were quite nice, the water had a great color, there was only a bit of a lot of seaweed. The sand is fine and there were no stones, so you could not to the feet hurt.

    The airport in Palma can be reached by the shuttle bus after about 45 minutes of the beautiful beach of sa coma is 5 minutes on foot away, a smaller beach (don't know how it's called) is still a little closer to you. There you walk through the tourist center with many supermarkets, bars and other hotels, so hotel-owned beach isn't available, however, you can with 3 stars not expect. Shopping and entertainment possibilities there are enough, karaoke bars, singers, and artists (especially recommendable is an artist, the photos malt/ sprayt, evening mood 8. on the way to the Playa de Sa Coma). In comparison to hotel is here more the matter.

Who the mariant not good, the expected either a five star hotel to the small price or he tried, with the tour operator a part of the price for the journey refunded to get. We felt way, you feel really good and will be like to come again. read more

We were now the 3 year and didn't regret it. It was nice as always. The food was great, so varied, there must something for everyone his. The only minor problem you don't know what you should take there is so much choice. Delicious We wanted to be a room to the street and had but one to the pool, was not a problem at all and it was changed. We have the front desk the time experienced friendly and helpful. in the dining room everything was as at the schnürchen, Packo was everywhere, had its people in the grasp ... and also helped with. But only to watch is not he was also behind the bar a whirlwind. Arnold also has a great team had, but it is the best. A rather small hotel, with small pool, and few loungers, what however not a problem is, as right nearby 2 beaches are. The hotel is clean and the staff are very so hard the complex and the building clean to keep. The furniture has already gotten a bit old, what the hotel but a rather comfortable atmosphere gives. read more

    There is a relatively small restaurant. The food is in buffet form offered, which unfortunately during dinner times especially evenings starting from half 7 to buffet battle will be.     In comparison to some reviews here is in our opinion the staff very friendly and always made an effort with each guest in the local language to speak. However is the communication English very much easier. The cleaning ladies were friendly, and to fulfill every wish. The service in the restaurant is also very friendly after a tablecloth dirty, they immediately exchanged. The service at the bar is nice.

    Close to the hotel there are many pub, restaurants, a diving station and if you get the small street walk down the right, as well as left beach, in a few minutes walking distance are. Left in sa coma can you evenings nice 'stroll' go. The surrounding places are easily accessible by local bus to reach. And thank god the hotel is far away from El Arenal.

For one week all inclusive the hotel was ok. At the buffet one has always found something, what one could eat. A lady at the front desk was not really friendliness stocked. You can much, long and nice for a stroll. Around the corner ( on the shopping street toward beach of sa coma) you can delicious eat out. To a week on Mallorca at the beach just to relax, is the mariant already reasonable. read more

In the hotel Mariant arrived, waiting for us in the room a bed with dirty, sweatier, used bed sheets, furthermore hair in bed-just disgusting! The bathroom was not cleaned, the towels used, in the washbasin, as well as in the bathtub hairs were previous guests-just disgusting! We have the staff immediately addressed (polite) and offered, that we just wait, until the staff the room cleaned and we a clean room can, without used bed sheets and used towels-the answer: the staff have end of workday, al I then asked us But please another cleaned room to give; it was called ... salop: we are fully-booked. We had to really on used bed sheets sleep, we would have another possibility had, we would have definitely gone! Unfortunately, as we the next 7 days find, referred this catastrophic condition not only to the room and the service, but also on the food, ( the quality, the selection). We had all-inclusive. This simply only disgustingly! read more

We were 5 days there. And I have to say a really recommendable hotel, which in the price-performance -proportion at the top is. At the cocktails you must still work (which however for the price reasonable are ), the television program you could still spiking (only three German channels, but it was irrelevant, because one wants to have a vacation;-O, apart from that one can only say: Come & join!. neighboring house of the hotel is at main street located. By arriving and departing buses ( sister hotel hotel Mariant park opposite), Lorries very loud. Bathroom in very poor condition (bath curtain depends only on be uneven and threads ) bath tub should urgently renewed, dirt in the corners. No safety deposit box, no mini bar. All together is stay in this neighboring house not recommendable. We were very satisfied with the hotel. The three stars are perfectly adequate. What often is being criticized, is the food. This but we were totally satisfied. The main courses varied always for us and was always something delicious for everyone. The dining room is quite large and you can also outside nice place to sit and eat. Altogether are the outdoor areas very tidy. The pool is quite large and above all clean. Chairs and sunscreens there was also very many. Otherwise are the two beaches of sa coma and s'illot not far. Particularly positive to call the staff ... is. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating. Altogether we had a nice holiday and can definitely recommend this hotel! read more
