A week relax, the winter escape, - worked fine! The hotel is somewhat outdated, but in a remarkable good condition. The location just perfect! In other words directly at the beach. Only few minutes on foot in the bummelstraßen to nerja and to the balcony d 'Europa. The check in was very professional and friendly, the glass sparkling wine obligatory. Our room on the 6. floor was always fast and properly cleaned (without! Tip) During our stay the hotel was fully occupied and accordingly hectic to the meal times. There was always (!) Refilled and the dishes were of good ... quality, tasty and sufficiently available. The service was very attentive. Negatively to us was the selection of dishes noticed. Only a few, real 'highlights '. Not the quality, taste the food 'bad' was, but for dinner würstchengoulasch-o in the Riu? Not really ok. And then the price of drinks, the in my opinion quite high are. A 'cruzcampo' 0.33 for 3 €? Water 0,5 2,50. I still can't understand why in a 4 star hotel fees for the safe due and the wifi after an hour also is subject to a charge. In short, - this hotel is absolutely recommendable, it lives of the natural friendliness and warmth of all the staff. We have in any case as' welcome ' felt and will definitely come again read more

    The design of the room was well-appointed as well as the size. Although our room ' only had a sea view, we had an open view to the mediterranean sea. The diligent cleaning maids worked very well and responsive even our wishes regarding the cleaning time. Everything made a neat impression.

    There were many possibilities in the hotel to food. Every evening found other events for entertainment of the guests instead of. The quality and quantity of the dishes in the restaurant was satisfying, but the dishes ( particularly the coffee pots), once sighted and be changed. Everywhere was one but around cleanliness endeavored and complaints were immediately taken care of.

    Already the reception on arrival was awesome. Although we in this hotel for the first time were, we were welcomed as regular guests. We were surprised by the cleanliness of the hotel and the room. Free we had every day unique sunrises. Reassuring we found the daily presence of a doctor in the hotel.

Beach area, a few minutes walk to the city center. In the environment lots of small bars and restaurants, Friendly staff. The dinner buffet repeated from week to week. The quality of the dishes is Orderly and had variety. Many English tourist the majority of the guests in October 2012 60+. The house is approximately 25 years old, the furnishing functional. The hotel is directly at the beach the very accessible and clean. The hotel staff is in all areas very friendly and helpful. For a four-star hotel was the food what we most criticize must. Because we other installations know we were ultimately disappointed from the offer, the preparation and especially from the monotony of the food. read more

    The shuttle from the airport took about 45 minutes and was ok. Excursions there were very many, so it is recommendable a rental car to book. We booked this at travelbooking in TUI responsible for 8 days and the price-performance -proportion very satisfied. Nerja is a relatively small city with bid, however without large shops.

The hotel is quite large, has approximately 240 rooms and is really getting a bit old. The lobby is very nice with some nice places to sit. Which us however bother us, these were ( very old-fashioned) key massive trailers with the room numbers on it. You should, where appropriate, a key lose, would the finder right, in which room you are. For the safe use again ' briefkastenschlüssel ' with the room number. As we are better used. If you a car had rented, was additionally keys and knipse for the parking space -gate in addition. One had thus ... daily four key in use; the was very annoying and is really dated. read more

    The size of the room was the hotel category. The furniture should however once again, as they apparently had from the new come. The crt is not up-to-date anymore. Should also carpets occasionally 'washed' will. The bathroom was altogether a little worn; especially the wannenarmaturen should be replaced. The hair dryer is not usable! The air conditioning was partly somewhat loud; but it worked flawless. The balcony was nice, we had a great view side on the sea. What however extremely unpleasant, were the ventilation shafts of the kitchen, you looked. So you could evenings not really comfortable on the balcony sit, since various essensgerüche on the balcony wafted were. Here you should quickly remedy. The safe was on the floor appropriate and as described above with a briefkastenschlüssel to worn; very inconvenient and dated.

Even at breakfast there was almost every day the same (the same sausage, the same cheese). However especially there were far from enough fresh fruits; some came from the can. That must not be. As we did in the past year on Tenerife ( no Riu-hotel) better experienced. We had us some ' specials' desired.

    Very different. The staff at the reception was only partly very well trained; much idea had not possibilities to do water sports or nice tapas bars. The waiter in the hotel against were really great; very friendly, speedy and above all attentive. The cleaning of the rooms was flawless; the ladies always friendly. It was also partly good German spoken. Spanish but more fun, if you in Spain already vacation makes.

    The entertainment was good; not pushy. The pleasant and always good tempered entertainer, both in the morning, as well as evenings really hard. The beach was quite narrow, gravel and fully, however therefor really on the doorstep. From partial large rocks apart, was the water very clean and wonderfully refreshing. There were also showers at the beach to the later flush of sand and salt. Chairs on the beach you could rent; loungers by the pool of the hotel there were actually sufficiently; however also here loungers powerful reserved; and the before 7 o'clock in the morning (very annoying!)! The pool-mr its work properly, everything was clean; the loungers should however slowly but surely be renewed! However is the pool for the size of the hotel clearly much, way too small; really swim you can unfortunately not.

    The location is great. Fall formal into the sea. To the airport malaga, we are about 50 minutes with the rental car went. Also shops you could easily reach; partly also on foot. For tours the location is nerja optimal, since one in every direction drive can. Whether malaga, Marbella or Granada; everywhere is you in about 1a one and a half hour.

All in all the hotel is very good, but already a bit worn. Adopted points of criticism we have: The Frühstückgläser are partly not very clean. The loungers in the outdoor area sometimes a bit dirty. Unfortunately after our complaints nothing to change. Otherwise is the WiFi overly expensive and almost unusable slow and furthermore on a device limited. Free -Wi-Fi there was only for an hour in the piece per day in the lobby. But now to the positive: Despite this small faults it was a very nice and quiet stay. The staff is really friendly and accommodating. The ... food is great and diverse. In the surroundings there are also many really nice bars and restaurants. There is lots of interesting excursion destinations in the surroundings. read more

The location of the hotel is really good and the staff members were at least friendly. However could not hide the fact, that the hotel very badly soundproofed and the conversations of the neighbors, toilet, etc. About the normal level also heard. Complaints at the front desk could-also because of bad language skills not adäqaut be edited. The cushions were very high and hard. Even a austauschkissen brought no improvement. The bed was very hard and the mattresses worn out. My wife had the week right back pain and still has to do. During the 1 week was at quiet ... and relaxing could not sleep, because the buzz of the airconditioning while almost the entire day was to be heard. After a week stay at this hotel were more bodies than before the vacation, since we hardly really deep and firm in this hotel defeat could. We had our honeymoon truly expected. read more

The RIU Monica is a relatively large area, consisting of about 240 rooms, all have at least a lateral view of the sea. The pool and the beautiful garden area make a very well-kept impression. The breakfast and dinner you can unfortunately not in the open take ( half board). In August make 60% English family vacation, approximately 30% germans, end of August the number of German couple much too. The hotel is a bit outdated, the tv-device are 20-years-old, also the chairs by the pool. read more

    The rooms are big enough, with a table and armchairs mistake, the air conditioning is unfortunately centrally controlled. The bathroom is outdated, one must to showering in the bathtub rise, a curtain is not so sexy. Also the tv- device must 20-years-old its, nothing flat screen and so, the German program trickle so before itself, the sound is just as bad, the screen diagonal quite small. Only good, that the tv not above the ceiling is installed.

    There is a big restaurant, unfortunately not in the open. The quality of the buffet is very good, it was immediately refilled, in case something is missing. Unfortunately there is no freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast! At least breakfast is the English guests adjusted. Unfortunately there is in the RIU Monica - apparently in all rius-two meal layers, in August at: o'clock and the 2. At: o'clock, which was a bit late. But you can usually the layer also change. A good bottle of wine, you could get for 13,50 Euro.

    The waiters are always present and friendly, speak generally German and English. At breakfast and at dinner plates were quickly cleared away. In case it complaints is, you at the front desk fast, the guests very fast towels were changed. The rooms are always clean cleaned, at different times however.     A professional animateur is from the morning until the evening for entertainment, starting with the water aerobics at: o'clock and go to the show for kids to the dinner. The beach is very near, but narrow. On some days you can lion's mane jellyfish live watching, mostly the water is however very clean and clearly, but only 20°! Loungers by the pool there were enough, but really beautiful worn out! Nice were the shady spots under palm trees!

    The hotel lies proximity to the beach, whereby the beach at this point very narrow and pebbly, the few loungers ( you have to rent) is possible also diagonally in the sand, because the area slightly derogatory is. In 15 minutes you are on foot in town, there are lots of small shops for strolling and several restaurants respectively cafes. A strong hour's drive away are malaga and Granada, the Alhambra is a must for every tourist on the costa del sol. The famous caves of nerja are worth seeing. You can all these cities well with the regular bus.

The Riu-hotel has his four stars with good reason deserved. The rooms are in very good condition and both with ceiling fan, as well as with a air conditioning equipped. Also the buffet, especially in the evening, could have a very wide selection of different meals. The beach is right in front of the door. He is not overly huge, but it is always a place for sunbathing. A very large plus point also the many loungers, so the typical reserve with towels superfluous is. Because we have very good experiences with a Riu-hotel on Gran Canaria did, we were looking for this year specifically to a hotel this group on the Costa del Sol. Our expectations were completely fulfilled. Everything was clean, everybody was friendly, everything should work worked. No Bugs. The information, which we needed, we could the front desk or travel guide give. Age structure well mixed. The hotel was mostly in British but everything was quiet and relaxed. Nothing with fight and rioting. The first loungers by the pool were already from 7:00 A. M. reserved. However not only of ... German guests. Small tip still on the edge-the internet you can per day for 90 minutes free of charge (with own notebook, iPad etc.). But this applies only in the piece. Sends you for example in the morning a mail and would like to in the evening briefly the answer get. Is not. First on the next day again for 90 minutes. Is in Riu already, but then subject to a charge. With a Wi-Fi-net to earn money is in our opinion not anymore. Finally we were also not to enjoying in Nerja but on the canary Islands was the topic internet completely free of charge. For a one time vacation without bankruptcies, bad luck and breakdown is the RIU Monica definitely recommendable. read more

Altogether a succesful vacation, hotel very recommendable, the food could been more diverse. The service and the kindness of the staff is great. The beach is not ideal: small and stony, but is the pool good. Would spend another vacation there. read more

Great hotel, really nice service, really magnificent kitchen with two different Abendessenterminen. Once at 18:00 o'clock and once at 20:15 o'clock ( one selects on arrival, but in any case change. Very pleasant: feasts table Assignment for dinner. To 2. passage, they had the door closed and everything new and freshly prepared ( wonderful!). In case a trip, you can in any case earlier than 08:00 A. M. (= beginning normal breakfast time) a slimmed-down breakfast ( no hot food, like for instance scrambled eggs) take. You should only to the night before at the front desk ... reported. In case we again after Nerja again, as it is a wonderful starting point for sightseeing, such as Malaga, Torremolinos, Marbella, Cordoba, Sevilla, Granada and so on is, we certainly again the RIU Monica select. read more

The vacation was altogether really fantastic. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The area was clean and nicely decorated. The rooms have a good size and a great lateral view of the see. The few minutes' walk to the center from neja do the fun not detract from our stay. One comes past at bars and small shops, as well as markets even evenings still open are. The beach is also wonderful, however no Ellen long sandy beach - smaller bays-. Unfortunately were the chairs by the pool regularly by pensioners from 7 o'clock in the morning occupied, so ... you this behavior also've learned to lunch at all to get a table. The rentable loungers at the beach are okay, but rather unstable and worn. The loungers by the pool are stable and pleasant. The dinner will two times serves, so that no overcrowding prevails. The time of day with check in by prior arrangement, is however during the stay flexible. Fantastic it was, that one for its whole stay a table for dinner assigned got, so the waiter already on the 2. the desired drinks guess could \u263a. Also great was the trip to Gibraltar. Absolutely worth seeing! Unfortunately is the drive nevertheless enormously. The cave of nerja us personally not of the socks off. Despite all the offered excursions also noisy travel companion very good. However should you for this extra bring money. The excursions striking hard on the reisebudge. Especially several persons. So costs some excursions per person 120 €. Altogether the hotel i would definitely recommendable. We in our 8 days stay so comfortable and felt very much at ease. read more

Good vacation hotel the furniture was already older but in good condition. The entertainment possibilities around the hotel are very good, with a lot of pubs in which the locals drink. As a location for hikes in the area very suitable. read more

Had a very nice stay, gladly come again. The staff were very friendly and able. We had a very beautiful room with direct view of the sea. The average tourist was in advanced age, probably because of the travel time. All in all our were expectations more than satisfied. read more

Staff very attentive., dining room, attractive, very good selection at the buffet. The outdoor area was very to desire. The pool area not appealing, the beach chair mattresses worn, and the seating in the pool restaurant as in a cheap ice cream parlor. This hotel unfortunately a little abandoned. read more
