Characterful hotel, slightly old fashioned, but preferable to "plastic hotels" that could be anywhere. Loved the bear at the entrance! Our room was spacious and clean. We were part of a coach tour from the UK, staying on a half board basis. Most of our fellow guests were retired. read more

    The room was of a good size, heating was easy to control for individual preference. The shower was basic, but adequate.

    We stayed on half board basis, the food was very good, a generous buffet breakfast and a 4 course dinner with 2 choices. For those with a large appetite extras were offered. If there is a criticism, smoking is still permitted in the public areas, e.g. the bar and reception. Please, make some room for us non smokers!!

    Staff were very friendly and efficient, nothing seemed too much trouble. Their knowledge of English was good. We felt always welcome, unlike in other establishments, where guests on coach parties can be treated like second class citizens. The personal attention of the owners was a nice touch, also! Room cleaning was efficient. Request were fulfilled promptly On request, the reception called a doctor, who arrived promptly.

    The hotel is located in the village, close to the church. The train station and local buses are approx. 5 minutes walk . basic shopping facilities nearby, but better in Zell am Hamersbach a short train ride away, and free for guests with the Konus guest card. Hotel will provide time tables. Do not miss the pottery in Zell, producing a large range of items with a lovely chicken design.

    We found our bedroom very big. The balcony would be for the summer have been great. For the room i would have had a description of the gesamthotels desired. Furnished the room was enough. The toilet was clean but it was on the 2. day not cleaned, but only the towels replaced.

    The next places you could perfectly with the train reach. Even to Freiburg one came easily. Only 2-minute walk away from the hotel was the railroad tracks. The hotel is perfect for people who like hiking.

All in all the hotel from the outside a relevant to the age good impression. The guest rooms were clean. The guests were mostly in advanced age 50 +.     The room on the attic storey was very small, so that always only one person could move around. The mattresses were worn out and the beds creaked. The existing tv had also already seen its better days, the remote control only worked sometimes. The mountings in the bath were already very long not new anymore. The water temperature was very hard to adjust, and the shower head sprayed in all directions. The an exhaust fan was very loud, very old and ran after turning off the light still for a very long time after. Positive is the cleanliness %blank% in the room, as well as in the bath to evaluate.

    To eat can be said, that the meal on the first evening unfortunately not was very good. The served roulades were so hard, that they will not be cut could. Complaints were no replacement enough. Only an apology by a 10-year-old girl, the management enough. At the other days the food was rather mediocre. Apart from the 6-course meal on new year's eve, the really big was great.

The main problem with this hotel is the smoking in the bar and reception area, also the size of the bar is small and uncomfortable, even if no smoking was allowed. No where to relax after your dinner. The bells chiming from the church opposite our room at 6am everymorning we got used to, but many guests will not like. No entertainment on Christmas Eve for us, even though we realized that it was Christmas Day for Germany, told whilst we were there. read more

I have in the hotel felt comfortable in spite of the lots of people, the too many with buses arrived. The service during dinner in the dining room was good, the breakfast was as a buffet offered. The room is functional decorated and offers enough space. It is clean the bathroom as well. Everything is a bit old-fashioned impression. read more

We traveled as a couple and we were without consulting a handicapped accessible room in the side building assigned. The bathroom was correspondingly large, but with increased, therefore uncomfortable toilet, behindertenduschstuhl in the bathroom, a feeling as in the hospital, which was the chlorine smell in the room has, the us every time greeted, if we to the room went and only after extensive air disappeared. Otherwise a spacious non-smoking room, we went on the balcony and there was a scruffy table a randvoller ashtray. The whole balcony was not cleaned at all and dingy. The curtains had not more ... all the hangers and hanging so some places by. After the first night was clear, also the mattress sags, which led to back pain. The creaking of the bettrahmens was certainly still in the next room to hear clearly. Because of the back pain we complained, that we without demand in a disabled room were accommodated. As an answer we learned, the mattresses if only new-which clearly cannot be true-and we have now a much larger room. Our complaint evaporate without any interest and merciless categorically shot down. At least the full ashtray was emptied. The first dinner was plentiful, one was asked, whether one consulting would like to the food was decent comfort food. The place was however without further inquiry assigned with a indiscrete tag with surname and length of stay and the place was not disputable. So we sat evening so in a dearless, beaten track, unpleasant lit, dark vertafelten corner with a view of countless antlers and stuffed animals, very appetizing. Also here, no platzwechsel possible, only on the final day we were allowed to the preferred guests in the friendlier main room change. The breakfast buffet was sufficient, but not diverse, very schinkenlastig. Also here a assigned spot right on the path, and it should be mentioned, that there is still a lot of window seats were free. At the window but we never sat. Coffee was in the pot on the table provided. A real coffee machine with a usual today variety of various types of coffee, there was not. Conclusion: a biederes hotel for retired people, a nest for a couple as unsuitable, that you only after house wishes to. A budget price should a hotel a little more about its guests and a bit more friendliness and courtesy you can in the black forest offers. Our impression, we are not here welcome. read more

This was a lovely small family run hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and really put themselves out for us. We were an all adult group of about 40 on a coaching holiday. We stayed over Christmas and had a wonderful time. The food was very good and every room comfortable and clean. The only problem were the pillows - probably typical all feather, which as Britishers we are not used to. read more

    I had a single room with central heating, a small balcony, reasonably sized wardrobe and very comfortable single bed. The bathroom consisted of a toilet, shower and basin and hairdryer. It was very clean. There was no telephone or coffee/tea making facilities, which was a little disappointing.

    The food was very good - cooked fresh every day. Probably traditional style. There was a bar with a good selection of local wines, beers and spirits. Everywhere was very clean. Prices seemed reasonable. Atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. Tipping was by a central system at the end of our stay. The owners really put themselves out for us, especially as we had to have breakfast at 5 a.m. on the last day to leave by 6 a.m. They made sure the breakfast rolls and bread were delivered early to accommodate us.

    The staff were excellent - very friendly and helpful. Only a very small staff when we were there. The manager and wife had limited knowledge of English but one of the other staff spoke a little more English (but then none of us spoke German!). Room was cleaned every day and this seemed an efficient service.

    The hotel arranged for an entertainer on Christmas Day evening, who was great fun and got everyone to join in. As it was winter and the Christmas period there was not much available locally. However in the summer we understand there were organised walks available. Scenery was stunning.

    There were some lovely shops in the town, which was quite small. There were bars and restaurants available. It was a very hilly, countryside area - very picturesque. We were on a coach tour, so did not have to enquire about other excursions available. As this seemed to be a holiday area I would imagine there would be something available. Roads seemed excellent, so car travel would be easy.

Had a really great christmas in this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was super. We enjoyed every meal. A great place to stay. The only drawback was that smoking was still permitted in the bar and reception. But our overall opinion is that we would certainly go again. read more

A very well located family-run hotel in the black forest, with heart and brain! Especially the good food, the friendliness the ' international staff ' especially the landlords give this house the special charm. A hostess, the hostess was born, the always present boss and the warmth, this black forest rarity from. The room was in the basement very dark and cramped. In front of the bathroom window was a concrete wall. The double bed was broken. On our please a different room on the upper floors to receive, we were told the a travel group logged in and this not in different categories can accommodate. Every evening dance parties for the present travel group instead, what tourists which beside the hall you rooms have is not pleasant. We are in the 2. Night in a different hotel in the place was moved, because we just too loud was. For the groups ... every night animation want to have is this hotel very recommendable. read more

A friendly and attentive staff to all meal times. Not so nice was the behind the front desk smoking and not always very attentive to the guests Was reacted. The food was magnificent and you could in any case ask for seconds, in case not full. Very nice location. Central point for excursions of all kinds. read more

Of 5a 8 October 2012 we have 120 musicians and fans in hotel bears a wonderful weekend had. Everything has worked fine and everyone was satisfied. The rooms, the food, the service all great. My buddy and I were with our motorcycles random at the hotel in Unterharmersbach passed. Spontaneously asking for night and good luck. Everything is good here: mostly friendly staff, very attentive service, clean rooms, delicious and rich food. The motorbikes can be safe and dry behind the house will be turned off. We come very gladly in next opportunity again. read more
