My daughter and I stayed at this hotel from 22nd June - 6th July 2014. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left nothing was a problem for any member of staff. There was always someone at reception, always staff at bars and cleaners were always ensuring everything was kept in prime condition. The room was spacious and maintained to a very high standard. We were at the front of the hotel which was facing the street, although many people prefer a pool view we found the view to be very enjoyable as you could watch the locals ... go buy and witness some of the local culture. Food was excellent and there was always a wide variety to choose from with lots of things being freshly made while you waited. The service from waiters was fantastic and all staff were more than happy to help. Our waiter at the restaurant was Mohammed Ali, and everyday he went out of his way to make sure that we were more than satisfied with the service he provided. The pool and garden areas were immaculate at all times and the pool was always welcomed when the heat got too much. There were plenty of sun loungers and parasols available throughout the day. I have been to many holiday resorts but the animation team at this hotel far excelled any other. They worked endlessly every day to ensure that there was always plenty of activities on offer if people wished to participate. However, no pressure was ever put on people to take part, although I would recommend participating as the fun was endless. The evening entertainment was outstanding, especially the weekly beach party! Our rep Philip told us all the information that we needed to know about Tunisia and was always there to answer any queries that people had. Basically, this hotel has everything that anyone could ask for to ensure they have a fantastic holiday. I would definitely recommend this hotel and cannot wait to return. read hotel review

The location of the Hotel is right on a white sandy beach and about 30 min walk to the centre of Mahdia.with over 400 rooms the cleaning staff do a good job in veiw of time scale they have to work to.The main restaraunt is always busy but the waiters we had in our area ( top of dining hall )were very good,as soon as you had finished with your plate it was taken away,your drinks were always topped up as soon as your glass was empty.The waiters always bring coffee and warm milk to ... your table,If like me you like tea with your breakfast then its get your own time. the hotel was filled with different nationalitys and we got to know some Brits which was nice and we have made some more friends. The age of the guests ranged from 2 months old to some elderly personal. read hotel review

    Our room was very clean and very spacious,The mini bar contained 1 bottle of still water,and 1 bottle of fizzy water,,,For the week..UNLESS you wanted to have it stocked at a cost to YOU,,never before have I had this,in other 5 star hotels the mini bar was restocked every day with local beer, water and fruit juices. There were NO tea making facillites in the room,again this is the only time I have had this. The lights on the balcony did not work and they didnt have lenses on them or any form of protection from a bare lamp.We had to wait from sunday night to tuesday afternoon to get dressing gowns in the room.

    One main restaurant, one snack bar, one other restaurant for theme nights, We went to the Italian night which was a good evening but the meal was a set menu so the meal was plated up ready just to be served to you. The waiters were good and kept the drinks coming all evening.We did find throughout our stay that if you tipped the waiter he would look after you, but if you didnt,they would make you wait or not bother at all. In veiw we were ALL inclucive you still had to pay for some drinks.

    The service we recieved from the reception staff on arrival was not what I expect from a 5 star establishment,we arrived at 2330, I had to get my own bags from mini bus, then carry then into hotel, Not 5 star treatment. I asked the guy at reception for a beer as after 1hr 50 mins in a very warm mini bus I needed a drink...and was told the bar was closed so could not get a beer ( only to find out the bar in question closed at 2359).We were advised to go to the main dining room and have something to eat while our room details were sorted for everyone...what we were left to eat was salad with cheese and some ham from the evening meal with cling film over the bowls.

    The sun beds around the pool are snapped up very quickly with the TOWEL brigade in the morning,,putting there towels on sunbeds then not useing them untill later on in the morning, I got a little annoyed with entertainmnt crew presistantly asking you to take part in there games and wont take NO for an answer. The pool was a little on the cold side..all that sun and no solar heating to warm the pool..sad really.

    The beach is right at the bottom of the grounds and is very nice white sand, The security guard is very nice and helpful and will take your sun bed mattrass to where you want to go.Mahdia is about 30 min walk to centre but be careful as the drivers,all be it, car ,van, lorry, bus, or the dreaded MOPED are every where and the Highway Code DOES NOT EXIST in there minds,Mopeds are the worst offenders as they get everywhere, at night the mopeds dont use there lights when riding around and they dont wear crash helmets,,we saw 4 people on 1 machine,2 of which were children. Our rep sorted out a couple of trips for us, at a cost of course, The Colocium was worth the visit,but BEWARE of the beggers and sellers as they pester you constantly. We were also shocked at the amount of rubbish in the steets, its absolutly everywhere.

Not a 5 star Hotel at all! We stayed a week, booked with Neckermann (Nederland) and had an all inclusive package. The Hotel itself is lovely, decoration and clean. But, in the entire week we stayed, our bed linen was not changed a single time!! (despite asking - even in 3 different languages). Bathroom amenities: NOT 5 star - I get shampoo and shower gel in any hotel - I expected body lotion, mouth wash, conditioner and a tissue box. The towels were old and ragged. The balcony door did not lock - we asked a maintenance member to fix ... it - he could not fix it - his statement "oh don't worry - not important". The food was ok, but never really sizzling hot, the chefs who stood there to cook for the guests always already had 20 steaks pre cooked - so it was never to your liking and this action defeated its own whole purpose! The meat was WELL done, I mean. chew it and chew it for another 30min. The cocktails in the bar came from a machine - and all of them tasted the same - like jelly belly beans! The waiters tried their best, but urgently require training on how to behave. Waiters performed really lame jokes, like you'd order a glass of coke, they came with the bottle and acted as if pouring it over your meal - then jokingly put it in your glass. The worst of all, every waiter did this - every single time! OR you actaully need to walk up to a waiter and ask for a drink, he says "oh I am sorry I am not working today, just looking" - (yeah, dude I see that oyu are just looking - otherwise you'd notice I wanted a glass of water). The a la carte dinner was a set menu (included thorugh the tour operator) but the food was not a la carte, it was a separate room from the main dining hall, and it was exaclty the same food - the waiters came - threw the plate infront of us, and left - no explanation or anything - this was meant to be a Tunisian night dinner. On our last day the manager asked why we were leaving - I explained we have to get back to work - he asked how I found the hotel, I told him I expected a bit more and wanted to write him a letter, but that was impossible since the room was indeed equipped with a stationary folder but NO PEN. I wrote postcards to my family and asked for a pen at reception - I was told to stay near reception and return the pen! The manager also did not engage in a conversation - in neither German, nor English, nor French nor Dutch to find out how the hotel could improve. I really wonder where Iberostar got such a lousy team from? I assume most people loved the hotel because they have never been to a 5 star hotel before, nor have they been to Tunisia or anyhwere else, but seemed not bothered by cold soup, bad waiters, lame jokes, aggressive animation teams (who literally throw you off your sun lounge if you dont want to play soccer.) It also was pre-season which often contributes to a lower buzz, which means hotel personel needs to work a little extra to make it worth the guests while. Animation was ok, they tried their best, but we were not here for this. I tried Archery, the equipment is old and NOT SAFE! I ended up with a gigantic bruise, because the arm protectors were very old and falling appart. During the day the hotel is in energy saving mode - which I support as long as it does not interfere with safety. Our room was on the 4th floor, the corridoors have no natural light - yet between 12 noon and 4pm there is NO light - we used our mobile phone to find our room! Emergency exists are not labelled adequately. However, the pool is nice, the beach is nice and if the sun is shining and it was the middle of July and the animation team was not so desperate - I assume this hotel looks a whole lot better and more professional. If you are there for the beach and the pool and the sun, I would have never noticed all the other things. Hence my explanation that in low season, staff should work a littler harder and take extra care. AS for a pre season get away - I do not recommend this hotel. read hotel review

Beautiful arab decoration. Good facilities: massage, sauna, beach activities, music, dancing, etc. big variety of food, local and international. Service and clenning very high standard. Very closed to city center and old quartier. read hotel review

With about 450 rooms or a full utilization of about 1000 people a very large hotel. The hotel seemed very clean and newly built. Sole in the indoor swimming pool one sees more wear and tear. Otherwise very large see for example the lobby this resembles a palace. Wi-fi (free of charge) in the lobby/pool area/dining area // bar/room area partially. There is all-inclusive or half-board. At our travel time (january) only retirees these remain there several months. Mostly german nationality. read hotel review

    The rooms are very modern and in very good condition. We had a double room with sea view wonderful view! Minibar with water 1 time filled for free then liable to pay the costs! Flat screen tv/telephone in room and bathroom // hair dryer in the bathroom/free safe in the room/sfa and table/closet/odd. Separate toilet/bathroom both very clean/modern!

    Restaurant l Olivier : there was breakfast/lunch dinner Elsofra : à-la-carte restaurant (only with reservation. Bar didon snack bar and cocktail bar. Outside there are several snack // cocktail bars but this had not open! A shame! The food selection repeated every day and boring. Quality is good. There is the possibility of some dishes freshly to order these tasted very good! Cleanliness was very good. Tnkgelder are not a must but for good service of course (possibly every 2 day 1-2 td). Drink of the waiters always refilled.

    The service is very friendly and courteous. It will help where possible. Tips are not a must for a good service here! Arabic/ französischsprachiges staff predominantly. A few speak broken german. Mostly one could get along farther with english. The room cleaning is very good this make every day the beds and if gewübscht new bed sheets and towels. It is highly recommended the maid at the beginning 5 td to lay down the they earn about 0,50 Euro p. hour. Not noticeable we have the existing kids club. A room service for a fee of 10 td and the cost of the meal is also available.

    The entertainment at night was very weak // boring for example, one evening a dance evening the entertainers 30 minutes dancing and that was it. archery/Bocce/Tennis free highly recommended. Disco very good, but to our time except us empty! Beach is very nice and clean // water was very clear. Pool area very clean and enough beach chairs were available. Indoor pool partly a bit rusty!

    Distance to the airport Enfidha 115 kilometer, depending on what a transferfahrzeug 1.5-3 hour drive. This is really hard! The city center of mahdia is by taxi (3-5 td) 5 minutes away. Sousse was about 1 hour away. The hotel's own beach is from the hotel 50 metres away. This is always security people of the hotel security. Shopping possibilities were bad. In the shops is always very cheap counterfeit unbrauchbares sold. Every shop sells the same. Often, the negotiable prices on the get ripped off. So beware! In the environment everything is very cheap with the taxi. The infrastructure in Tunisia is very bad. Discos/night life except for the hotel is not available. Excursions were offered by the travel agency offered. Noticeable we camel rides (boring!) 40 td p. p and a quad tour 60 td per person this is really recommendable (duration 2-3 hour)

Nice hotel, located right on the beach. The entire staff was very friendly and always a smile on The lips (although this certainly sometimes difficult for it). No problems with the communication, because nearly all speak german. The lobby is very impressive and grand. The food, a big compliment to the kitchen, very varied with fresh vegetables and salads, for each taste always somewhat thereby, the dessert with fresh fruit, pastries or tortenstückchen, brilliant! What more do you need, we probably-felt very much and will be back, no doubt. read hotel review

    The food was very varied, for every taste Something already in the morning freshly pressed orange juice or Fresh zubereitest omelettes or fried eggs, cereal or fresh bread. Lunch and dinner buffet with salads, vegetables, fish, meat, Potatoes. The desserts fabulous. The waiters were very friendly (also without tip), the plates were immediately cleared away, if one is ready. Fixed tables and if one to its table are the drinks ready.

    The hotel is right on the beach. The transfer from the airport took about 2 hours. Only had a guided tour to mahdia (is offered by the hotel) for about 2 hours, very interesting the small streets and bazaars. Other trips we did not participate, since we only 1 week were there, but we will certainly another quality.

December/january 2014 were also a few german guests in the hotel. There were mostly other nationalities such as tunisian, french and italian. We were over Sylvester there.     The size of the room was not very large. The decor is still hardly aging. Always so nice, as the opening in june 2010. The cleanliness of the room, was nothing to complain about.

    At Sylvester the food was very good. It pleased me however not, that a Sylvester-dinner self-service at the buffet took place, rather than service with course menus. After Sylvester there was the buffet at least the next 3 days the leftovers from the firm. Other days, the food was much more simple, but still good. The price-performance ratio was in comparison to before worse, so the prices doubled.

    Before and Sylvester the animation team very proud from 5 persons (1 caregiver, 1 dj and 3 hüpfende men). On Sylvester-dinner was then still a belly dancer were on. Altogether the entertainment was rather poor and downmarket. The entertainment after Sylvester on very little to nothing at all reduced, because many guests left. To the first weekend in january remained then only 40 guests in the whole hotel. Child care and mini disco was only to 31-12-2013 instead. From new year was the child care and mini disco ceased.

Large hotel complex. Cleanliness in the hotel itself is good! Internet access in the hotel lobby is good, but in the rooms hardly possible. Food the whole day you can breakfast/lunch/dinner, snacks at the snack bar or at the pool bar! Average age is mixed from each something and mostly german, we had the feeling. read hotel review

    Room size was absolutely fine. Unfortunately we found the allocation of rooms unfair. We have 2 couples kennengelern, which had a room with additional beds beucht and had a suite right at the top and the other had booked an economy room without sea view and got one in the 3 stick with sea view get. We can have more per person than the other and booked seaview and completely down over the kitchen where every morning starting from half 8. ramba zamba and only had a small ocean view. We found very annoying. The room is adequate. Very large bed. Air conditioning, small fridge (with us broken) small table with chairs, tv, hair dryer in the bathroom, telephone). Bathroom was large and well equipped!

    There are 2 restaurants. A à la carte restaurant and the main restaurant with buffet. 3 bars (pool bar, a snack bar and a bar in the hotel). The hotel is of course very large and therefore also you must also with many people expect. Just abnds in the restaurant or at the bar it can happen already times a little louder! The food is okay. Every day is a different theme. It is always something there for everyone (is of course a matter of taste). Drinks are as good as all included (original drinks you had to pay extra) cleanliness and hygiene in the restaurant are good! Tips must not be, but always a nice guests! With 2 Dinar (1 Euro) brings the already another smile on their face!

    The friendliness of the staff is different! Our waiter were very nice and friendly. If you times 2 Dinar gives (1 Euro) then are you still attentive and look exactly, whether you have a need. Some is unfortunately also with the no bock had to make something. Foreign language skills were good! Most of the staff spoke up to 5 languages! In the room the cleanliness was unfortunately not that good. Mirror and the faucet in the sink was not even wiped. If the sign on the bed it was changed but never again nicely addressed. As one morning was one has it also found again. :-(

    Unfortunately, it was very far away from the airport! On arrival we are 2 hour drive ☹ very long time when it in the middle of the night and the environment can see, the beach is 2 minutes away from the hotel. We were not in the city but the beach you could them to see, and it is estimated that there are 10 to 15 minutes walk to get there. In the hotel itself, there were also small stores where you everything you need gets!

Stay from 12-10-2013 until 26-10-2013 Hotel iberostar royal el mansour Place: mahdia, Country: tunisia Unfortunately the stay under no good star (iberostar). Where is directly nothing: A - and departure waiting times despite plentiful switch, unfortunately only a few a day. Transfer journey, we were the only guests that is why it quickly. Bus/car was not up to the european safety standard. The beaches along the coast to mahdia were so badly which i had already had fear at my resort to the water head. Hotel stay. Check-in: very good, fast, competent and friendly staff. Room: well, spacious, good size. ... The electricity must be saved is clear, tv light and climate must during the absence not run however the fridge when leaving The room also is issued the first time we had never experienced. Some guests are cooled medicines (for example insulin and so on.) Rely on. The cleaning of the rooms was superficial but still justifiablely. (no 5 star standard) The cleaning of the corridors in the living area, carpet, during our 2 week stay not 1 time cleaned. Impossible for 5 stars. Pool: couches just acceptable. Umbrellas ok. We europeans drive south, because we soak up the sun and not from 14/15 hours at the pool in hausschatten beach chairs. Beach: pool chairs nor straight acceptable. Umbrellas for a normal europeans much too low. 70% the guests were several times daily to complain that the head on the strohschirm The food was not the standard. Also there seems in the 1st week some problems with the hygiene to have been. Our vacation and strandbekanntschaften nearly all had stomach/intestinal problems, we unfortunately also. In the 2. week the food was a bit better, but never the 4/5 star. Guests at the pool told us that she already 4 times in the hotel and the quality always good. Also they want their never again visit.
