Hello,
we stayed in the appartements in May this year. Good things first: Nice view, spacious appartements.
Now the bad.
Appartements were not properly cleaned when we arrived. Dishes dirty, bathroom dirty, toilet (!) dirty upon arrival. Since we arrived late and nobody is there from 6pm at reception (originally they leave earlier than that each day), we cleaned it ourselves. Next day we complained and NO apologies whatsoever - they sent somebody to clean it (though we had already done it.)
Next thing: I wanted to pay with Accor vouchers (made reservation through Accor hotline requesting a voucher ... stay). The very unfriendly owner told me he would not except them. I told them that they have to, since they are with the Accor group. But he kicked me out of the reception, yelling at me, that this is not a big hotel and I should use it elsewhere. (I re-checked with Accor - they normally have to accept the Accor vouchers!!). This was all very disappointing.
And then the small things: ants on the table, BBQ not working properly, etc. pp
One hint for all intending to stay: Airlie Beach has not real beach + the Lagoon (artificial lake in Airlie) is quite far away. You definitely need a car if you stay in these appartements.
All in all, very disappointing. If you want to have a nice, relaxed holiday in which you want to feel as a welcome guest - do NOT go to Grand Mercure Azure Sea!

On the journey we were already quite excited what was to be expected because the hotel was quite high. The bus had a hard time but it worked out and yes we were rewarded with a great view. read more
