The oberforsthof is a medium sized hotel. The whole complex is very clean. We are on the late morning arrived and were immediately invited a 2. breakfast to go, we have exceptionally friendly felt. In the afternoon, there were in the wintere a skiers' snack, deftig or sweetly, everything was there. In the entire hotel free of charge wlan. The guest structure was mixed, many nationalities, in the holiday time mainly families. read more

    Perfect service, everybody was despite high season extremely friendly and obliging. The cleaning of the rooms worked quickly, laundry also perfect. Nice kindertante 17-21 hours. We had a complaint, it was exemplary treatment.

    The perfect entrance to the ski amadé region, only from the ski cellar with the road, the skis and the post office... Alpendorf is actually a hoteldorf, so plenty of bars and restaurants available, but also sports shops, a tennis court... The next place for shopping and with complete infrasttruktur is Sankt Johann, a few minutes by car.

I have written many reviews over the past years and all have been positive. This is the first one where I feel my family and I have such a bad experience I needed to share it. This is not a five star establishment, so if that is what you are looking for, please avoid it! And the most important factor is we had been coming to this hotel for 20 years beforehand but needless to say; we will never be returning again as the standard has dropped so badly. Over our stay, I wrote up a list of what was ... wrong with the service, etc, so here it is: - On arrival, we found out there had been a change of ownership and we were treated as if we were there for the first time. At a five star hotel, we expect them to know we have been there around 20 times. We were very fond of the previous owners who knew us well. - The hair driers in both rooms were so dirty and sticky we had to get them changed. - There are no English TV channels which was fine for me as I also speak German, but pretty shocking for my father and girlfriend who only speak English. I am not saying this was a huge issue as we were skiing most of the time but it would have been nice to be able to watch some TV in the afternoons before dinner. And needless to say, a five star establishment should offer English TV channels. - The swimming pool was a milky colour, so definitely NOT clean. We have a pool at home so I can most certainly say the water did not have the clarity needed. We went swimming on the first day and then didn't for the rest of the week. - The images of the pool on the hotel website are very deceiving/not correct. For 20 years, the pool was an indoor AND outdoor pool, with plastic flaps in between, which allowed you to swim outside in the winter also, with snow all around - it was absolutely fantastic! HOWEVER, there is now a wall built where the flaps used to be but all photos and videos on the website still show access into an outdoor pool - LIES. This was obviously done to save money. - The reception staff are extremely unfriendly and unhelpful. - The wifi is unsecured and disconnects every time you do not use it for 3 minutes or so. This was the case not only with my phone but all three internet enabled phones we had with us. A 5 star hotel should have password protected wifi and as most places do, change the password each week to avoid unauthorised people using it. - The website is a joke as there are so many spelling mistakes it is the most unprofessional website I have ever seen. If a hotel cannot spell POOL or MENU there is something very wrong. Finally, but most importantly, two of our skis were stolen right out of the cellar storage space. There is ONE camera in the room which ridiculously only has the ski boots in its view - the cheaper and less likely to be stolen item of the two. The access to the room is via room card only from the outside (but I have observed guests allowing other people in who are trying to get in at the same time, assuming they are guests too) but accessible through a door without lock from within the hotel. This allows anyone to walk right into the hotel (in ski gear no one is able to question everyone walking in as their is no security or even doorman) and go downstairs to take skis. When we told the hotel reception this had happened, we were informed they would take care of the police report. This was two days before our departure. On the morning of our departure, when we had 7 hours of driving ahead, they informed us we had missed the policeman who had been there the day before so we had to go into town to the police station to make a statement. We were furious as no one had informed us the police were coming as we would have stayed to make a statement and in the afternoon the day before our departure, my parents had also been into town shopping so could have taken care of it all then. When we told the staff we had not been informed and had no time to go to the police station on the morning of our departure, we were simply told one of the colleagues had said we had been informed. Therefore, we were indirectly accused of lying. All four of us. We then asked for the manager and I will not spend too long on him as he is not worth the time wasted writing about him. In short, he was worse than all his staff put together and his parting words were: he does not care about how his guests are treated, he is happy with his staff and he does not care we will never be returning. He is simply the definition of why, after 18 years of growing up in Austria, I would never ever live there again. Please do not go to this hotel! We most certainly never will - such a shame as the couple who used to own it were absolutely lovely and so very accommodating! The standard was flawless for 20 years but after this year and the change in owner, we will not be returning. AVOID! read more

Foreign language the waiter could not be evaluated, but german was for the most waiter a huge problem. Wellness area very small for the size of the hotel and the hot tub was already very long not cleaned. read more

The complete staff including standard of cleanliness of the restaurant was extremely friendly and attentive. The food was really good, ideas - and diverse. The kitchen has apparently on regional specialties focalized (this could even better communicate). There is also a private kids buffet. The ambience was perfect for a ski holiday, the decoration was very christmas, but not tacky, there were homemade cookies. The fireplace room was to relax after the dinner. The spa area was clean and had everything to offer, which one wishes itself. The sauna area was unfortunately somewhat small. Chairs were but sufficient available. The ... rooms was clean and noticeable was the large bathroom. To ski lift you had to only the road cross, it was not 2 minutes. The ski area is for all ages and can in the best way suitably. All in all a successful vacation. read more

A great wellness and hiking vacation in a very nice and varied region. A highlight is sure the kitchen. We were looking forward already to by the other reviews and we must say, we weren't disappointed. Service always very friendly and attentive, all very hard. Wellness area super, especially the water beds in the relaxation area the forget everyday life. It is also very on small details respected, you will find it very rarely. So for us it is clear, we will be back. read more

The hotel is in the higher district Alpendorf with a magnificent view. To the center from St.Johann it was a few kilometers, you very good on foot or actually necessarily a car needs. The food was too many delicious and diverse and offered especially for breakfast a massive choice. The own high expectations at the ' hoods kitchen' after our assessment evenings however not always fulfilled. The gala dinner (7 course) on Sunday then it was again top class. The drink prices ( especially for wine/ coffee) are unfortunately quite high. Service and staff were in any Respect perfect. ... We felt very comfortable and felt very much at ease. Garden and terrace are just amazing, the spa area really deserves its name. Again thanks for the room-Upgrade! So great we stayed rarely in a hotel! read more

We really liked the hotel, however the trails were not so nice. You can probably in St.Johann better skiing and hiking. It was in September not much going on. There were too many older people in the hotel. read more

It is a stunning hotel with exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. The food is magnificent. The wellness area and the pertinent lawn for sunbathing are great. Very pleasant is the possibility, in the hotel bath coat on the terrace and even during the nachmittagsbüfetts in the dining room sit on them. The general decor is very stylish, absolute cleanliness of course. Only in the pool outside area could more often to be cleaned. ( green streaks in the spillway). Unfortunately are also missing tiles in the outdoor swimming pool and therefore waschbetonplatten on the reason to complain about. Shops in ... the alpine village of as well as not available, but who needs it with the rich choice of food. If you are looking for a hiking vacation planned, must know, that in a car rely on, in other valleys/towns. Possibilities for hiking directly from the hotel are limited. Altogether the hotel is very recommendable, even if you so far, a four stars-star bucher was. The only fault was unfortunately at the end of our vacation a travel group with 70 persons, the usually more noise make as couple or families. Unfortunately! read more

Had a short break in a comfort room on the internet increased (the normal price and were disappointed! Neither the size of the room yet the furnishing were a comfort double room room. It made altogether a very good impression. Especially the beautiful entrance area is second to none. We booked half board. The types of people were not particularly good, all age groups and groups.     We had a classic-suite, the furniture was ok, could have been a bit be more ambitious. Quality the double bed was, we ' have wonderful slept. The fact that we grandchild with had, were the places to sit limited, the couch was a couch doubles. But most of the time we were out and about anyway or in the wellness area. The balcony was huge, was around the corner. Was altogether certainly 10 meters long, with tables and chairs equipped. I would have maybe a couch wanted. But when I addressed it could have been, you would surely the request met. The bathroom was sufficient, combined tub/ shower, toilet extra, for us optimally. Safe, telephone, mini bar available. Small touches, like a bowl of candy, pretzel sticks was again and again provided free of charge.

    We booked half board, whereby however still in addition a lunch or in the afternoon pastry was offered. In the 14 days there was no court twice, standard were four course, sundays 6 courses. It everything was very good prepared, all cooked on the spot. Excellence. The waiters very attentive, wishes, for example for our grandchild they were all met. Especially children opposite everything was made possible. By a regional cycling the hotel was two days in superstress. But also in this situation there was no deterioration. Price a drink are a five star hotel just. The selection of wines very good included the advice. A instruction we would have however, what the terrassenbetrieb regards. The terrace is very beautifully designed, but you should maybe on the purchase of a fixed marquee as protection from the sun think about it. But that only a small instruction

    The service leaves nothing to be desired. The staff attentive, friendly, always for wishes approachable, without being intrusive. You have always the impression, you the most important guest are. The room was cleaned thoroughly. What was most pleased, that the room already was clean, if we from the breakfast came, but however at the latest until: o'clock. dashaben in most five star hotels already experienced differently. For example at the kempinski Dresden ( taschenberg -palais) one can until afternoon time! Several times we have laundry delivered, the also already in the afternoon again in perfect condition in the room was. Other hotels need to next day time. Couldn't be better! Questions at the front desk were always friendly answered.

    The next large plus point. Wi-fi in the entire place and the free! Five star hotels in Germany demand totally excessive price. Furthermore, there is a internet-point in the fireplace-bar. The wellness area is not huge, but for the size of the hotel just. The pool area was very clean, everyday there was sufficiently and free of charge in the form of a drink bar This has led however some Families with children not just gebührlich to behavior. The waiters was but also here attentive and eliminates some clams... Rei. The beautifully laid out garden had a large sunbed area and could also still with a simulated laid out swimming pond fully equipped, very well received.

    The location of the hotel is breathtaking. It is located in the district of Alpendorf the main town st. Johann i. pongau on a hill. The view into the Salzach-valley is simply a dream. When we opened our suite referred, we are right on the balcony and it was immediately the 'wow-effect' as. The view is fantastic. The place st. Johann is around 15 minutes away on foot, by car 5 minutes But there is very high traffic, so do within walking distance explore. There are many shops available. Excursions off course without limits. We were delighted by the many small-and großarl, very recommendable.
