Perfect as base for ecotourism in the Baliem Valle

If you are going to this resort - you are anyway an Ecotourist - focusing on culture, nature etc. and not on fun, fitness, party etc. This hotel is perfect for Ecotourism. It is located approx. 1900 m above sea level - and therefore it is fairly cold in the evening, take a pullover with you. The Hotel Manager and his team are extremely friendly and try to make your stay as perfect as possible. As we were the only guest (season starts in June, we were there in April) we had a wonderful time. Every evening we had a ... local warm soup as starter - perfect if the temperature is a little fresh. The rooms/bungalows are very nice, made out of wood and adapted to the local enviroment (Dani houses). since some months electricity is available 24h, including hot water for showers. the rooms are clean, styled with hand crafts, the beds are big and cosy. the lobby is decorated with local hand craft and gives a very special atmosphere. if you need alcohol for dinner, you have to bring it yourself - but I recommend to stick to the excellent tea. the wooden planks on the terasse of the bungalows and on the way to the bungalows suffer extremely under the rainy weather conditions. Although nothing happend some of the planks need definitely to be replace as they pose a certain danger to the guests. We can strongly recommend the resort to people who do not need a luxury environment (like pool etc). it is perfect to feel the athmosphere of the Baliem Valley and be part of nature. read hotel review
