A hidden gem, should I keep it a secret?

The Seeburg is a " grand old lady " which the owners are bringing into the 21st century. The 30 or so rooms are being modernised to a high standard throughout as are other areas of the hotel. The staff work hard keeping the bedrooms and the rest of the hotel and grounds very clean and tidy. Breakfast, lunch and dinner can be had either inside, out on the canopied veranda or by the lakeside. Hotel guests come from across the globe and ages are varied some returning year after year. read more

Spacious and comfortable, with very large traditional bed, 2 easy chairs, table and writing desk. The room had 2 sets of double french doors opening onto a full length balcony, with 2 chairs, overlooking the gardens and lake with views to Brienz and the mountains. The shower-room was large and modern. A flat screen tv and free wifi were also provided in this recently refurbished room.

  • Gastronomy

The hotel provides a very good buffet breakfast. Half and full board options are available and there is an a la carte menu. The a la carte menu is, in my opinion, a little limited but nonetheless the traditional dishes are of good quality and quantity. As the owner is a qualified chef pride is taken in cleanliness and presentation throughout. Having dinner by the water's edge on a warm Summer evening has its own ambience.

  • Service
    6.0

All the staff I have always found to be extremely friendly and genuine. They work hard affording excellent service. Their knowledge of " non-Swiss " languages appears good, especially English. The cleaning of rooms is thorough, new towels daily, and unpretentious.

  • Sport & Entertainment
    6.0

Leisure activities not needed , in my opinion, due to position and accessibility of the surrounds. Lake swimming is possible with sun-loungers provided.

The tranquil hotel is situated right on the edge of Lake Brienz, the local road ending at the hotel itself. The hotel can also be reached by boat and is served by its own lake ferry stop. Ringgengberg railway station is less than a 10 minute walk and even closer is the local bus stop. Interlaken can be reached in minutes by car, bus, train and boat or one could always enjoy the walk. Interlaken is the hub for the Jungfrau Region with its many excursion and sightseeing possibilities. It is also the main shopping/commercial centre for the region and has links by road and rail to other towns, cities and regions of Switzerland.

We have the short stay in Hotel Seeburg ring genberg we really enjoyed-especially the absolute peace and the proximity to the lake. Ring genberg is also the ideal starting point for many excursions in the area/lake Thun and brienz Jungfrau region. The reception by the hotel manager was very friendly and accommodating. The room was newly renovated and very comfortable. For those requested room price we would have expected, that the towels in the bathroom were changed regularly. This happened however first after request. The breakfast buffet was small but fine. It was missing at nothing-even if you came to ... breakfast. In the evening we visited twice the restaurant in the hotel. The food was fresh and good! During warm weather, the food is available in the garden directly on the lake are a high light and distributed the whole a special ambience. We will consider this hotel for my next visit again. read more

Hotel Seeburg, Lake Brienz, Switzerland

We found the hotel excellent in every way except for the steep walk up to the village/station and bus stop. However we knew this beforehand and in all other respects it is a delightful hotel in a delightful spot beside Lake Brienz. The train journey into Interlaken takes just 3 minutes from where you can travel to anywhere in Switzerland easily. The staff and management were most helpful and the cost at this hotel is considerably less than in say Interlaken. read more

Families led hotel with great, extremely quiet location and a private access to the lake. Train station within a five-minute walk reachable. With bad weather can be taken in a winter garden, the releases the view of the lake. Not so nice we found the plastic chairs on the terrace, because they do not comply with the rest of the atmosphere and presentable. read more

Hotel Seeburg, stuck in the 70's but all else is great! archived

The Hotel Seeburg had a family run type of feel, very cozy with a friendly, helpful staff. The size of the hotel can accommodate many guests and the views of Brienzer Lake were amazing. The hotel was clean, and pet/family friendly which was much appreciated. Parking was also available at the hotel. Luckily we were not staying inside of our rooms but to sleep, as the decor was very outdated. The rooms were small, the bathrooms were smaller, and there was no access to our balcony except through single-paned windows. The furniture was also outdated, but functional. It was like ... The hotel was clean, and pet/family friendly which was much appreciated, however our rooms were really small and extremely outdated. One person could barely fit in the bathroom, however it was clean and always had hot water. There was no access to our balcony except through single-paned windows. With the view the hotel provides, it would have been nice to be able to sit on the balcony and enjoy it. The furniture was also outdated, but functional. Honestly, the entire hotel needs to be gutted out and refitted with new appliances, carpet, furniture and decor. If they did this, they could easily increase the price per room and the amount of stars they have because the views and location is perfect. All in all it was clean, but a little disappointing when we got inside the hotel and our room.

  • Gastronomy

We only had breakfast and it was very minimal. I would suggest they provide more breakfast items of a wider variety.

  • Service

The service at the hotel was great. The front desk clerk was spoke many different languages and overall was very helpful and courteous. The breakfast at our hotel was included, albeit very minimal, however we asked for boiled eggs (which were not provided at the buffet) and the waiter happily provided them. I did not like books/maps provided at the hotel. We did not receive a single map of the city of Interlaken (which would have been nice), nor could we find any info packets with hiking trails or local attractions. Aside from the information provided near the front desk, every thing service-wise at the hotel was great.

The Hotel sits a few minutes just outside of Interlaken, but the hotel provided free public transportation tickets for the local bus or train for the entire length of our stay. The bus/train ride was only a few minutes into Interlaken and the bus/train stop was a only a short walk from the hotel. There is also a ferry that is directly in front of the hotel, which was another exceptional mode of transportation. We were very pleased to be outside of Interlaken city, as Hotel Seeburg is in the small, cozy town of Ringgenberg. The town of Ringgenberg is very small, mostly residential with not many shops. But as the train/bus brought us to bigger towns within a few minutes, that was not an issue. All in all the hotel location was quite, peaceful and serene...exactly what we hoped it would be.
