The Hotel Jardim Atlantico is a good distance from the airport and Funchal (about an hour by car) but it rewards its visitors with spectacular views from a stunning location. Of course, you can enjoy the surroundings on foot if you are fit but a rental car will help you to get around and see so much more. Our room was spacious, with a balcony and seaview onto Paul do Mar lying at the bottom of the cliff. There was an electric heater which came in handy at the end of February as it got colder during the clear nights. ... The cleanliness of the rooms was always excellent during our week's stay and our room was always cleaned early in the day. The evening buffet on the first night was just ok but it got better by the day, and on Sunday we really loved it because of the many good fish dishes on offer. The wines, largely Madeiran and Portuguese, were good and a reasonable price. We like and support the eco-friendly concept of the hotel which offers its guests lots of suggestions and support how to enjoy the wonderful nature on Madeira. We took part in a whale watching trip out of Calheta and enjoyed it immensely. We did not see any whales but lots of dolphins and this will remain one of the best memories of our lives. The guests at the Jardim Atlantico consisted mainly of elderly Germans, some French and a few Brits. The atmosphere seemed extremely friendly amongst them. This was undoubtedly also due to the outstanding service both from reception and the staff in the restaurant/kitchen. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff never lost their patience even if some things were a bit "trying" (e.g. plastic key card to room broken in the lock by guest). Rita, Alexandra and Tony at the reception (if I have missed anybody, please forgive me!) were amongst the most friendly and helpful reception staff we have ever met on our many travels, and we would like to thank them here again for their excellent service. They make the hotel! One little drawback of the eco-concept we must not leave out, though: the smell from the water-purification system behind the hotel often forced us to run the last 20m to our room door because the smell was really bad at times. Will we return? We hope so if we have the money and keep our health. read hotel review

The hotel boasts with the multiple award TUI holly over 10 years ago and the current ratio was not at all in the vicinity would come! For 9 days is DERTOUR a family for the half board 5.300 Euro from. We fly since years 3-4 time in the vacation and have never had such a bad value for money experiences! We will never visit this hotel again or DERTOUR book. read hotel review

    Sleep in the apartments is awful and with multiple interruptions per night feasible, since all, even from the covered living area, will be transferred. Furthermore, the climate very humid and very cool.

    The daily very similar buffet resembles a 3 star hotel. All juices are also extremely diluted with water. If you're on the offer as local fruit and vegetables hopes, will be disappointed - in 2 weeks there was 1 times avocado. Papaya, mango & co. Were less than in traces to find in the food. The breakfast is every day the same, cheapest food, scrambled eggs in the water, etc. It was not possible for new year's eve the 'gala dinner' should be eliminated, at least at this days meal. You refused simple. So did the food at least the expectations of the guests: it was a little more effort, but the just can't cook and we drove in the port to Funchal, to have a decent food.

    The 'fitness centre' consists of a about 3m times 90m strip with 4 devices at least 20 years old and be scrapped,. If you are not around 19 hours from the area is, must also, after the hotel the electricity turned off, in the dark to freedom keys. Nice large rooms very clean. Unfortunately very clairaudient, you can hear from the neighbors (wool pulled over) a lot with. Very quiet location, great view of the ocean, unfortunately through the altitude often in the clouds, if elsewhere the sun shines. In novrmber predominantly german guests, some scandianavians.     Nice large rooms, beds ok, and everyone has its own ceiling, very clean. The bathroom was beautifully large, with bath tub. Beautiful towels are sufficiently available, also pool towels are already ready.

A great hotel, which also looks after the environment, a wide, delicious and healthy food offering, with consistently friendly and interested staff. There are suggestions for hikes, with detailed route descriptions. The location at about 580m above sea level, and the views, are great. Very suitable for couples who don't need the hustle and bustle of the city, but would like to go hiking or want to do other trips. read hotel review

It was a very nice, relaxing vacation. But because of the totally positive emerged, all reviews on all sides showed full scores, i had (still) expected more. The sea view was not a real, centipede and other animals cavorted into the rooms, in the restaurant crumbs were only swept the table (and chairs) read hotel review

Nice hotel with spectacular view of the cliffs. The food is average and not all the rooms are quiet. The spa has a lot of room for improvement. You should book a rental car or additional excursions for longer stays. The representative manager is the soul of the hotel and compensates for the hotel's small faults with his warm nature. read hotel review

Eco-friendly hotel is situated on a cliff with a great view of the atlantic ocean, Staff was very friendly, restaurant is in the main building, the food was very good, the outdoor swimming pool Is without chlorzusatz (water is biologically filtered) the water pool was very cold, but still a nice, small area above the main building, older guests, the not so good in the stairs are, Should try in the main building to go back, we had room 7101 and up to the reception or restaurant were 96 steps to climb, it leads also to the side of a ... steep road after above, The hotel offers a next to the tour operators themselves, tips, events and trips to, One really cared very much around its guests, for families with small children not necessarily suitably, You should next to the hiking some excursions to join in, or rent a car (about 4 0 €including kilometers), because the island has very much sites, in the capital a sledging go through, or the skywalk visit (580 meters above sea level), the swimming pool in Porto Moniz is great, But this is expressly our opinion! read hotel review

Great base for a vacation in Madeira. Very large room with a magnificent view of the sea. The service and staff ensure a very warm atmosphere. You feel well cared for. The food (buffet) is very versatile and delicious! The bar has a great selection of cocktails - also nonalcoholic ones! In the afternoons there are delicious teas from fresh herbs. The hotel has Despite all the things the hotel offers, like walks, tours of the area, info evenings etc. you should still rent a car, so you can move around the island freely. The spa area is worth mentioning ... - it offers lots of different treatments and a good selection at a special rate. We had a studio with fantastic view of the sea. Rooms etc. are excellent, the furniture, however, could do with new covers. Unfortunately, there are no loungers on the balcony where 2 chairs and a table can be found. Well, you can't have everything and we did so much hiking that there was little time for wellness anyway. When staying, book massage well in advance since appointments fill up quickly. A back massage can be highly recommended! read hotel review

Hotel in a beautiful location and very quiet - just what we were looking for. If you want to see some of the island, a rental car is recommended. The one negative point is that they use waste water to water the plants, which makes it smell. read hotel review

We have a very lovely week in an apartment of the hotel. Separate living and sleeping area with a walk-in closet, bathroom with bathtub and bidet, integrated kitchenette with a hob, dishwasher and the highlight was a huge flower lined terrace. The apartment was not in the main building, but in a separate building right next to the hotel. Our recommendation is definitely always an apartment to book. Due to the location of the hotel spectacular views of the sea and the mountains. Distance to Funchal about 45 minutes drive. The drive is in a great condition. The hotel is ... ideal for hikers, not on partyrummel is possible. For hiking tours we recommend the adac guide and very important: procures to you the gps data from the hotel for the sat nav. Our recommendation is, in Funchal the restaurant riso sbramato' nearby the cable car, the Monte leads, to visit-super delicious. read hotel review

'welcome back home ', these were the words, with which i with my 3. visit in this still very good hotel was welcomed, although the last attendance also again two and a half years ago. As a sweetener obendrauf gave it then also again the same room in the terrace houses with magnificent sea view, but there is now really in all the rooms of the hotel. Thank you, for the warm welcome to Rita, a real pearl for this hotel, always a few nice words on the lips, and a good council ready. Let the performance of the other ... receptionist but not belittle, Rita is simply a very special person. Otherwise i can the hotel still same high standard certify, as the first visit in 2004. There are certainly here and there a few small things, which one be criticized, but you can see it clearly, that the management in the guidelines the standard very good stop. read hotel review

    The very large rooms are still in good condition, you see, that updated regularly. Only sofa, chairs and tables should be renewed. You 'know' i already for 9 years, are still in a sufficient condition, you can see, that you tried everything okay to hold, but after this time you can not more all signs of usage unseen make. The bed is absolutely okay, like the one or the other might something to be soft, the pillows (latex) is still the best, which i in a hotel ever had. The hygiene is still very good. Tv reception on satellite moved. The cell phone reception is in the terrace houses still very difficult.

    Breakfast is still very good. Daily 14 kinds of bread, rolls and pastries, 6-8 sorts jam, to the extent, 6-8 ingredients for the cereal in the morning, cheese, meats (presently up to 3 kinds of), eggs and bacon, 3-4 sorts juice (partially freshly) and 3 sorts of gesundheitswasser. The dinner was a little changed: monday until saturday there is the presentation quite normal buffet. The selection is but rather increasing: soup of the day, usually 8 kinds of salad (a real treat the mischsalate with combinations, the one could not quickly could), each 2 sorts of meat and fish, 3-4 side dishes, i had the impression, that the selection for vegetarians was improving. The dessert buffet was the indigenous capacity shifts and increase. A real test for Waage at home. The pool is simply amazing (up to 6 different kinds), different creams and fresh fruit. Only on sundays there is now still the great schedule buffet, the really what the eye is. The quality of the food is but on all days no less than, only the temperature of the food could be a bit be retouched, it was partially unfortunately only lukewarm. Even better is the service in the food has become. The many waiters are very attentive, empty plates quick and unobtrusive cleared, the napkin back down, it will immediately and a new brought.     The service is still very good.     'welcome back home ', these were the words, with which i with my 3. visit in this still very good hotel was welcomed, although the last attendance also again two and a half years ago. As a sweetener obendrauf gave it then also again the same room in the terrace houses with magnificent sea view, but there is now really in all the rooms of the hotel. Thank you, for the warm welcome to Rita, a real pearl for this hotel, always a few nice words on the lips, and a good council ready. Let the performance of the other receptionist but not belittle, Rita is simply a very special person. Otherwise i can the hotel still same high standard certify, as the first visit in 2004. There are certainly here and there a few small things, which one be criticized, but you can see it clearly, that the management in the guidelines the standard very good stop.

    It has again something in the more immediate vicinity of the hotel. The in november 2010 still empty building on take ' lombo da rocha' are now partially occupied, there is a small gift shop and a new restaurant. A small supermarket there is still give, but it is still a tenant looking for. Very good for all leihwagennutzer : the new gas station, on the take. Finally one must not want to go to Calheta soak up the drive.

We have during the 3 weeks our wanderurlaubs always comfortable and felt good. The staff is very friendly and always helpful. The cleanliness in all areas is excellent. The rooms are big and well equipped. The breakfast could be a little more substantial, but it is enough completely. Dinner was the variety of dishes always enough. Several salads, 2 meat dishes, 2 fish dishes, 1 vegetarian dish. Not to forget the large Selection of delicious desserts. All meals were always fresh and tasted excellent. A hotel both in the location, as well as the service was spectacular. For those in search of peace hikers the perfect hotel. Who noisy entertainment loves, is in the wrong place. The service the complete staff is super. On every question at the front desk or in the restaurant area you got in detail and friendly response. Definitely again. The location is a dream. Ideal starting point for levada hikes. A rental car is helpful, if one which from the island want to see. The buses have partly long journeys. Particularly beautiful was the prelude of the from the hotel organized dorfrundgang. Only the evening music at the bar could have been a bit more diverse must. As often described the hotel a top location! The service is excellent. All rooms have probably sea view. We had a large bungalow (respect for bungalows) in the first row; as you see in the photo.     As described, we had a bungalow (circa 70 square meter). Unfortunately, there was only bungalows (partly very badly soundproofed). Was in TUI catalog not described. This was but nevertheless brilliant. This is possible in the first row. The half the balcony glazed. For february great. The schiebefester just open. A feeling like in the conservatory with a fantastic view of the ocean! In b.5001 you already in the morning on the side sun. I have a couch to the front desk ordered and me stundenw. With opened windows nude sunbathing... And at the beginning of february! You should not be satisfied; simply change. The bungalows were certainly only 50% occupied. To consider one should however, that it has 100 steps to the main building are!

    Absolutely great! As several poor reviews lev. The food to be described, was for us not comprehensible. Faraon in Riu Palace hotels... The food here was really comparable. There was from. Salads, meat and always at least two super fish dishes (salmon, tuna, etc.). Great desserts and always fruit; also for breakfast. One should also always the price-performance ratio. Keep in mind! A super plus.

    The service i would like with 6 points. The cleaning of the rooms but despite repeated tip not always enough. The balcony was during the 2 weeks not even swept or mopped. We then made. Absolute professionals at the front desk! Three people speak really good german. In the restaurant was the staff also really friendly and attentive... There was a piggy bank for tips!

    We have the pool (was too cold) and the fitness room we didn't use it. But every 2. day Tennis played. There is a small indoor swimming pool with a sauna. The sauna i used regularly. There was evening entertainment. Can nothing at all letter. Were never there.

    The location, as mentioned great! A small place in the immediate vicinity. There is a supermarket in the hotel. Definitely book half-board... The food is delicious! A car for the whole stay not! Necessary. Was here again and again described; the but i have to disagree. We were 2 weeks and in the 2. week for a few days a car direct from the hotel rented! Very convenient and absolutely enough. The hotel has 2 small buses, which a lot of free! Transfers to hiking and villages (for example. Jardim do mar, Paul do Mar etc. Conduct). You can also various walks from the hotel from performing. The hotel offers then also liable to pay the costs. 2 times wöchtl. A transfer into the capital. We also used! Very convenient.
