General description: Presidential Palace BratislavaPresidential Palace in Bratislava (Prezidentský palác, Grasalkovičov palác) is located on the square Hodžovo námestie and currently serves as the seat of the President of the Slovak Republic.
The palace was built by Anton Grasalkovića, Croatian count, in 1760. Originally, the building stood outside of the city walls. The palace first housed the seat of the president in times of the I Slovak Republic, subordinated to the Third Reich. Then again, when there was a breakup of Czechoslovakia.
Part of the palace is a park area with a garden in the French style. The trees growing in it were planted personally by European and world politicians. In the garden, there is a statue of Johann Nepomuk Hummel. In rooms of the palace numerous concerts were held, including one of Joseph Haydn - one of the three Viennese classics.
