A place travelers can visit Prambanan Tempel
Reviews: Prambanan Tempel
General description: Prambanan TempelPrambanan is a complex of Hindu temples, located near Yogyakarta, in the region of central Java (Indonesia). It was built during the 9th century, but soon after, it was abandoned, probably due to the burst of the volcano Mount Merapi. Forgotten during hundreds of years and lost in the jungle, he was discovered by the British in the 18th century.
In the middle of the 20th century, the temples have been restored, and today we can admire most of these monumental buildings. These are richly decorated with reliefs and statues. The largest temple is dedicated to Vishnu and Brahma, the gods of the trimourti (i.e. "Hindu Trinity").
To reach Prambanam, it is recommended to use public transportation, or simply to enjoy a tour package of Yogyakarta. The journey takes about an hour. There are some hotels and hostels in the surrounding area, so it's possible to spend one or several nights in order to have the time to admire temples when the sun rises.
