Reviews: Cape St. Vincent
General description: Cape St. VincentCape St. Vincent is a cape in the Portuguese region of Algarve. It forms the southwesternmost tip of mainland Europe. It is located about six kilometers west of the village of Sagres. The Cape is named after Vincent of Saragossa.
The 24-meter high and 150 years old lighthouse is the only building in the surrounding area. With a visibility of up to 90 km, this is one of the most important beacons along the Atlantic coast. The lighthouse was built on the ruins of an old monastery. Some remnants are still visible.
The cape is the beginning of the E9 European long distance path through Brittany and along the North Sea and the Baltic Sea to the Baltic region.
