General description: Luxor MuseumThe Luxor Museum is a museum located in the city of Luxor, on a promenade of the East Bank of the Nile river. The museum houses a rich collection of works of art from the temples and necropolis located in an ancient city of Thebes (modern Luxor). The most interesting items come from the tomb of Tutankhamun in the Valley ofthe Kings - a gilded head of the goddess Hathor, or barges, designed for Pharaoh to go the other world. Other attractions include reliefs from the temple of Karnak Akhenaten, depicting scenes from everyday life, well-preserved statues from the New Kingdom and a found in Karnak statue of Thutmose III.
The Luxor Museum facilities include a visitors’ center, a cafeteria, a bookshop and a library. The museum is accessible for handicapped.
