Made to order by King Ludwig I, Königsplatz consists of numerous Greek style temples: the Glyptothek, the Propyläen Gate and the Museum of Antiquities, as well as the Lenbachhaus art gallery and the Byzantine Abbey of St. Boniface. Königsplatz is also the doorway to Munich’s world-class Kunstareal museum district, which includes the three Pinakothek galleries among several others.
