This communal residential complex, created by Friedensreich Hundertwasser, contradicts every rule of symmetry and rectangularity.
Hundertwasser contemporary Austrian architecture
Hundertwasser was an often controversial architect who lived and worked in the 20th century. He work aimed to connect nature and architecture and his trademark bright colors are always easy to recognize. He avoided symetrical straight lines and liked to create curved organic structures.
Hundertwasser in Vienna
As he was born in Vienna it is not surprising that you can find many of his buildings here. They include The Hundertwasser House, KunstHausWien and the District Heating Plant.
NOTE: You cannot actually enter the Hundertwasser House as it is private accommodation. Around the corner from the flats there is however the KunstHausWien which is a Hundertwasser Museum. They are often mixed up and Hundertwasser House often actually refers to the museum. In this case they have been grouped together.
