General description: Jewel Tower

The Jewel Tower is one of the most famous tourist attractions that can be found in London. The place dates back to the 14th century, as it was erected in 1365.

The initial purpose of this building was the storage of the treasures belonging to King Edward III. These were known as the “King’s Privy Wardrobe”.

Currently, the place is used as a small museum which will present the history of the building to the visitors. The collection stored in here includes: replicas of precious objects, the model of ‘lost’ palace of Westminster as well as a clerk’s office from the 18th century. What is more, there are ornate ceiling carvings which come from the 14th century and a room devoted to the history of weights and measure.

Address:
Abingdon Street,
Westminster, London,
