General description: Monastery SavinaSavina Monastery is a Serbian Orthodox monastery which can be found in the near vicinity of Herceg Novi. The place is surrounded by lush green vegetation and beautiful vistas of the Bay of Kotor. It is located in an area which is considered to be one of the most beautiful parts of Montenegro.
The place was established by Stjepan Vukcic Kosaka in the 15th century. There are three churches located around Savina Monastery. The smallest church dates back to the 10th century. The place’s reconstruction was executed in the 17th century.
What is more, the visitors will be able to visit the Great Temple of the Assumption as well as the Church of St. Sava. The former dates back to the 18th century and the latter can be found outside of the exact boundaries of the monastery.
