A place travelers can visit Koutoubia Mosque
Reviews: Koutoubia Mosque
General description: Koutoubia MosqueThe Koutoubia mosque is one of the most important heritages of Marrakech, mainly due to the height of its minaret (70 meters), which is visible from almost all parts of the city. This makes it a perfect point of reference.
The construction of the mosque was completed at the end of the 12th century by the sultan al-Mansur Jacob. It is the oldest and the best building of the Almohad dynasty. It is believed that the three balls at the top of the minaret contain the jewelry belonging to one of the wives of the sultan al-Mansur.
Theoretically, only Muslims can enter the mosque, however, sometimes, foreign tourists also have the opportunity to go inside, but they have to be properly dressed.
